We'll just have to save for it. Re: Cara and Matt's First Build - Baldivis 383Dec 03, 2015 9:22 pm We could but we have an overdraft that has little interest so we would just use that if we need too. Air con isn't a big cost for us to save for but we also have to do the alfresco flooring and the pool flooring so it all adds up. I'm sure the market value of the house will be a lot better than the bank value. Just a shame that's all Our dream home viewtopic.php?t=75306 Building our first home - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75306 Re: Cara and Matt's First Build - Baldivis 384Dec 03, 2015 10:09 pm Caraf88 We could but we have an overdraft that has little interest so we would just use that if we need too. It can run all the ways to $21k ducted temp control to every zone hehe. Re: Cara and Matt's First Build - Baldivis 385Dec 04, 2015 1:30 am Try total kooling solutions they did our home now and it's AMAZING I have never walked into a home with a aircon like ours. They quoted the new house for us, daikin every room zoned, over 15kw system with a premium inverter for $11500 They also are the only company to warrant there install for 5 years all others are only 2 years Re: Cara and Matt's First Build - Baldivis 386Dec 04, 2015 2:28 am Natalie92 Try total kooling solutions they did our home now and it's AMAZING I have never walked into a home with a aircon like ours. After heaps of research reading and asking heaps of questions , I went with Actron Air EPS+ Platinum 17Kw, 7 zones wifi connection, 5 years warranty for $15300. Did not chose Daikin because their compressor can't reduce speed as low as Actron EPS+ Platinum inverter. Some time you need to cool just 1 room you don't want the compressor to run at 40% that is a waste of electricity. Also Daikin does not spray protection coating on the PCB in the outdoor unit, which leads to "U4 error message" down the track. Finally Actron is made in Australia . Support Aussie Product hahahaha Re: Cara and Matt's First Build - Baldivis 387Dec 04, 2015 8:04 am I think we are just going to go Evap. We have a pool so when we are really hot we will be out in that and Evap will keep us comfortable and it is cheaper to run. If we didn't have a pool I would pick ducted without a doubt. Both our neighbours just got Evap installed and it is a lot better these days. Perth has sub tropical weather now, a lot more humid and hot day. My old home has it, i had to put in a spit system air con. Re: Cara and Matt's First Build - Baldivis 389Dec 04, 2015 10:05 am Lots of places do interest free on aircons so you could pay it off, better than adding it to your mortgage and paying interest on it too!! Then save up like you would have anyway and use the money to off set your mortgage until the interest free period is up Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70984 Re: Cara and Matt's First Build - Baldivis 390Dec 04, 2015 10:07 am When the weather is humid we would mostly be out in the pool. But we will look into ducted still. I'm just not liking the fact with ducted most people are vigilant with using it because of how costly it is to run. I am currently in the tropics and Perth is a dream compared to the tropic weather. Our dream home viewtopic.php?t=75306 That why I chose actron air, it has the ability just to cool 1 room and compressor reduce its power to 20%. I also plan to put 5kw solar panel on the roof. Re: Cara and Matt's First Build - Baldivis 393Dec 04, 2015 12:03 pm We were told by an aircon installer that splits are the better way to go, being 2 storey we can't do ducted in certain rooms anyway so now we'll probably do splits throughout, but going to try survive as long as we can without A/C or just put 1 split in the main living to begin with down the track Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70984 Re: Cara and Matt's First Build - Baldivis 394Dec 04, 2015 12:46 pm archetto We were told by an aircon installer that splits are the better way to go, being 2 storey we can't do ducted in certain rooms anyway so now we'll probably do splits throughout, but going to try survive as long as we can without A/C or just put 1 split in the main living to begin with down the track With double storey, you need to plan first. You need the ARC people to design the system and work with the builder to put it in while the house still under construction. This way you can run the duct to any room that you like. I don't like the thought of having a split system hanging of the wall for every rooms, specially the the front elevation of the house. Re: Cara and Matt's First Build - Baldivis 395Dec 04, 2015 2:08 pm Yeah we know but we didn't want A/C at the time and still don't but when we come to sell it we will likely need to put it in, we have a very strong sea breeze that rips through! We can do ducting to most rooms if needed its just the master bedroom is under the slab so that is the only one that would have to have a split. But we were told that splits are better so guess we will see when the time comes what works out the best to install! Edit, apart from one model so win win either manufacturer Only the indoor system. If I remember right the outside unit is made in Thailand. Where as actron air is fully design and made in Australia. Re: Cara and Matt's First Build - Baldivis 398Dec 04, 2015 7:06 pm Correct, indoor units, still good as opposed to buying a brand that is fully imported with no investment in Australia. I think evap in the Perth climate is good, the only downside I believe is when there is smoke outside, it's so quick to pump that through the house. I've yet to nail down an Aircon brand but it will be between Daikin and Actron, they both have their good points, especially when you compare their premium inverters. The Australian company will most probably sway me, but I know Daikin are quite reliable and quiet from first hand experience. Luckily I have a friend that is an HVAC installer and electrician but have yet to ask his opinion as we are a while away from choosing. Re: Cara and Matt's First Build - Baldivis 399Dec 09, 2015 9:24 am We purchased a new bed for the guest room! I wasn't sure whether to get a double or a queen. A queen will fit in the spare room fine but I thought with a double it would feel more spacious. We ended up going with the queen because it ended up costing only $30 more including the mattress. We pick it up just after Christmas so I'll be sure to post some photos ️ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our dream home viewtopic.php?t=75306 Building our first home - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75306 Re: Cara and Matt's First Build - Baldivis 400Dec 09, 2015 9:31 am I just seen that bed yesterday and I will probably get it for our guest room too!
