The two worst trades as far as quality goes with our build have been gyprock & painter, both very ordinary. Don't they consider that a defect? Where are the standards! Yep MrsJM that is funny- I hope ur ss is decent about final product when u get there but they say u have to stand 1.5 away from wall and if u can't see it from there it's not a defect - u can't look at things from side view or anything , they don't like to fix what they don't have to, and a word of advice to anyone doing electrical- I'm in lake Mac area but not sure how far down this Leco works but I'm being ripped off like u wouldn't believe, not sure if it's coral or just Leco but I've worked out I'm worse off going through Leco directly. Re: Coral Homes general build thread 3744Mar 17, 2016 9:39 pm HI! Newbie here Have been "stalking" the forum for a few months. Finally have my own thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=82452 Plans are in with council/private certifier atm. Colour selection & clipsal on 7th April! Cheers, Tegan (& Josh) Marcoola 30 with CORAL HOMES 2016 SANDSTONE LAKES, NINGI Queensland Our Build Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=82452 Re: Coral Homes general build thread 3745Mar 18, 2016 7:01 am Has anyone dealt with the painter directly and paid cash for feature walls? I would really like to do this but heard of anyone doing it Re: Coral Homes general build thread 3746Mar 18, 2016 7:02 am We got told we can firstbuild92. Not up to that stage yet but hopeful as we want to change our media room colour! SS said it shouldn't be a problem though, but I guess it's up to the painter Re: Coral Homes general build thread 3747Mar 18, 2016 7:27 am Lexie85 We got told we can firstbuild92. Hopefully our painter is happy to do it! I just thought it would be easy to get it out of the road but I didn't even think of it at the colour appointment. Our gyprock started getting installed yesterday but I have no idea when they paint! Re: Coral Homes general build thread 3748Mar 18, 2016 9:56 am Our paint was ordinary and he had to come back 3 timesa. During PCI we were advised we needed to opt for the 'Level 5 paint finish' for ALL defects related to plaster or paint in ALL light to be resolved. Ordinarily they only accept it as a defect is standing back from the wall and natural light is available. Any issues with seeing plaster seams or patch areas with lights on at night is not considered a defect unless you have level 5 paint finish. Something the sales consultant did not tell us or try to upsell us with Re: Coral Homes general build thread 3749Mar 20, 2016 9:20 pm chriss841 chriss841 I've been pretty negative (or realistic, depends if you're a glass half full kinda person) but now we've finished our decking, driveway and turf our home has finally realised expectations! Handover is scheduled for Tuesday with council attending Monday morning for final sign off. If Tuesday is the day it will make for a five month turnaround.. obviously less than impressed with the time however as I look at other builds I think we've been pretty lucky.. I love your colour choices, can i ask what colour your roof, garage and windows are? I read that the bricks are Savannah, nice choice! Love the extended deck out the back. Re: Coral Homes general build thread 3750Mar 21, 2016 9:43 am Morning all.... does anyone know who drills the waste holes in the stone top in bathroom vanity units and when it is done? We are owner supplying vanities (coral to install) but the supplier won't drill the waste holes in the stone top because we are not using their basins. This is obviously going to be a problem if Coral's stone mason rather than the plumber onsite, drills the holes in the unit pre-installation... going to cause a bit of an issue and will need to urgently find another option. Ahhh it never ends lol! If they are not, I dare say the plumber will do it and may not be pretty! Re: Coral Homes general build thread 3753Mar 21, 2016 3:36 pm Gunna The plumber can do it with a diamond tipped stone hole saw. Might be a bit messy but at least there is no danger of it being put in the wrong place. Ah ok thanks. I think I remember seeing that on tv haha. Is this how coral usually do it do you know? Waiting to hear back from SS but thinking if they crack it or otherwise botch it, they may not take responsibility if we owner supply (as well as the added nightmare of getting a replacement). We were wanting to upgrade our bricks to Northbridge. Via the sales rep at Port Macquarie office we were verbally given a price and were happy to upgrade , now colour variation prices are back and they have a cost of $7,192.00. Have taken this up with them and they have said that there is no email confirmation of the price. So just wondering how many bricks are in a Longreach? Does anyone know. I had my heart set on these bricks and now very upset that this has happened. Warning to everyone, get email confirmation on any prices from Coral!!!!! Re: Coral Homes general build thread 3755Mar 21, 2016 6:59 pm I'm finally back! We are currently waiting on the certifier. We had our colour appointment today and electrical next week! I would love to start our own thread but I can't seem to work out how to on my phone. We are building a marcoola 30 at murwillumbah Re: Coral Homes general build thread 3756Mar 22, 2016 10:20 am I just realised that we wont have any powerpoints on our actual island bench in the kitchen.. I will have one down the bottom on the far side for vacuum but where would you put it so you could use say an electric frypan? _________________________ Building the Noosa 26 with Coral Homes https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=80794 Re: Coral Homes general build thread 3758Mar 22, 2016 10:43 am Ryalls_first_build I just realised that we wont have any powerpoints on our actual island bench in the kitchen.. We are putting one on the side up the top, maybe on both sides I think it was. If there is already power to the island it should be to hard to get one higher I would think?? Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 15075 Hi so sorry for the late reply.
