Building with Metricon 3603Sep 13, 2016 10:59 pm Tribe7 If your brick work is bad sun then organize an inspector for your own due diligence to be 100% happy with what has been constructed for your money. Several people have experienced brick issues, our selves included. With the correct information and assistance anything can be fixed. We did get a private inspector . Here is the report regarding brick and mortar . Other than this there are many area you can see a brick sticks out or bows in goes in. I guess is within the tolerance so it's not on the report . If we have the time and money , I'd like them to re do the whole house . Hubby said as long as they re do the pointing and mortar it will look decent. It's just shocking to me this sort of finish is ok with M . Building with Metricon 3604Sep 13, 2016 11:03 pm Orpheus sunxiaoxuan23926 Orpheus, what should I say to my SM? The gaps and warping must make you cross. I would be livid. Good on you for getting an inspector, least you know where the major issues are. I feel really bad for you, it's so disappointing to see your lovely home with out of plumb bricks. If it helps sun we have timber battening around our garage door too, they paint it to match. Metal bracket things above the fixed Windows. Re: Building with Metricon 3607Sep 14, 2016 5:47 pm Will Metricon let me salvage the bricks they are not using? They are tossing away a lot of bricks that have chips etc. I am thinking to save them for future front or side wall Nev _________________ Blog | ( will start once received tender ) H1 thread | https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=77665 Re: Building with Metricon 3608Sep 14, 2016 6:05 pm Neville S Will Metricon let me salvage the bricks they are not using? Re: Building with Metricon 3610Sep 15, 2016 5:17 am Hi everyone, We were told we have reached practical completion by Metricon. When requesting to accompany our independent practical completion inspection PCI inspector, we were told we can not accompany the inspector during his inspection not by the inspector but by our site manager /supervisor instead. Does SM usually refuse owner's these kind of request from your experience? Had the SM being seasonable? Are we entitled to if we really want to attend? Thank you very much KKPP Building with Metricon 3611Sep 15, 2016 8:44 am KKPP Hi everyone, We were told we have reached practical completion by Metricon. Thank you very much KKPP Hi KKPP, I have just done my PCI last Friday , my SM at Metricon was quite welcome private Inspector. Despite the bad finishing on my house , my SM have actually requested reschedule the inspector to come one day prior to the PCI so we could have the report when we go through the the house . It was very helpful. My inspector is really good. He listed all the defects with photo, relevant regulation tells you the tolerance . Money worth spending My SM definitely didn't say don't come with inspector , nor the inspector says you can't there when I am inspecting . However our plans is to meet the inspector before he finish the job on site so we can have a chat. Normally inspection takes one and half hours depend on house size . I would be turning up for the inspection if I were you Re: Building with Metricon 3613Sep 15, 2016 9:29 am Thanks very much everyone Feel frustrated due to lack of knowledge and experience in these areas. Can SM refuse us being there because of occupation health and safety concerns etc? but our house is almost completely finished, the fence is removed, rubbish bin and portable loo are all gone. I feel it is a bit daunting confronted by the SM and telling me to get out due to OHS, are OHS etc legitimate reasons? I feel it is a bit daunting confronted by the SM and telling me to get out due to OHS, are OHS etc legitimate reasons? To me , he cannot refuse you to be there for H&s reasons. The house is at its final stage/ PCI, there should be less safety concerns . If there is , I'd say its manageable . My SM did tell us don't visit site unless he is there. That's the reason SM is there ! He is managing the risk . He will tell you don't touch that don't step on that. Push for an answer . Again I have done my PCI , knew exactly what you are going through. At this stage , do whatever you feels right , no need to care house the SM feels and too nice to the builder. One thing you need to remember , if you think things are not right , most likely it is not right ! Building with Metricon 3616Sep 16, 2016 11:30 am Sorry guys I have been hijacking this tread during the last couple of days . For those of you who have finished building with Metricon , I would like to ask who cleans the site ? I am talking about uneven land due to the mulch builder dumped around the house ? Thanks again! My understanding is they will do a clean up of the site prior to handover, have you discussed it with the SM? They won't go around levelling your land but you should expect all rubbish and waste removed. We had so many issue at PCI and didn't have time to walk outside the house until the SM has to leave . Rubbish and the bin have been removed . It's just the mulch . A lot of mulch .
