Browse Forums Building A New House Re: _lucinda's house 322Oct 12, 2013 7:24 am Hey Lucinda, I think we may have driven past your build the other day. I recognised it from the pics you posted. It's looking good in person. Any further progress since? Re: _lucinda's house 323Oct 12, 2013 3:55 pm Thanks Pannacotta. I'm hoping it will look a little unique. I think it looks amazing. We were there today for a few minutes, without camera, but the roofers and bricklayer were hard at work. And I just love it. Can anyone tell me why there is a strip down the middle of the brick--sort of looks like foam in between. Is it to allow for expansion and contraction? Pics in the next few days. Re: _lucinda's house 325Oct 12, 2013 4:53 pm I think you are right Lucinda. They are for expansion and contraction. I think they are called expansion joints. We have them too. It's great how your build is progressing along nicely Re: _lucinda's house 326Oct 14, 2013 5:24 pm Plumbing http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k107/jjzs/samples/plumbing_zps9e3b8290.jpg More bricks; and roof tiles almost complete. http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k107/jjzs/samples/bricks_side_zps2adfc012.jpg Re: _lucinda's house 327Oct 14, 2013 5:48 pm Your house looks great lucinda, including the brick from all sides your builder is certainly moving fast, overtaken me now! Not a red back in site--the supplier changed apparently and I was really worried I'd have red base--I know there will be chips, and I'm happy to have grey behind the chips, but I didn't want red! Some more pics, roof tiles--they are beautiful, picture does not do justice to them http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k107/jjzs/samples/roof_tile_zps045b3277.jpg Side windows http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k107/jjzs/samples/side_windows_zps3255d2e5.jpg Really friendly brickies, happy to answer my dumb questions http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k107/jjzs/samples/brickies_zps3ca51a88.jpg Re: _lucinda's house 333Oct 17, 2013 2:22 pm Bricks look great! Dog knows he's cute--husband says his sole purpose in life is to be cute! I think he's saying "huh, it'll do, but there's not much pee space there!". Davelle Funny to see the difference where your render is and isn't Hickies told me they would be standard brickies red brick--I'm so glad they are black/dark grey. I don't mind the colour red, but I didn't want any red on the outside. Re: _lucinda's house 336Oct 17, 2013 6:43 pm This is going so quick! Have they given you a rough date?
