There are a few hiccups here and there, but what do you expect no human or builder is perfect at perfecting everything. I've had some issues, but nothing major. So my build, is something that I'm glad of, and I am proud of our house, and can't wait to for landscaping!!! Here are some of our photos!! Will post some more photos next month when our custom curtains and blinds have arrive and are installed!!! SORRY IF IT'S A BIT MESSY!! THE LONG AWAITED SETTLING PHOTOS!!! 312Nov 30, 2011 11:00 am OMG Jovi, I cant believe you in already. It doesnt feel like that long ago that I posted about our Leon and the trouble we were having with our block. Your house looks beautiful. Any issues so far, after you moved in? Well the land I told you about that looked like it would be ok.... We brought it back in March. We are still waiting for settlement Its been delayed 4 times now. Weve been told now it will be December 13, so fingers crossed. We are still building the Leon, although we did have a look at DFH "cosgrove 321". I loved it but it was just a bit over budget with the extras I wanted. So we are sticking with Simonds because of the promotion. Im finding a lot of issues with them at the moment though. Our colour appointment is tomorrow and stuff Im finding out now about their standard range, Im not impressed about. Some things im not impressed with are; * told that due to the change over in brick companies we will be able to get the brick we want as part of there standard range. No we cant, its at least a category 7 ($3000 upgrade) * told the concrete floor was part of the alfresco price (email to prove it too). No its not. ($2000 upgrade) So basically its a $16,956 roof and 2 pillers * Ceasar stone bench tops Only get to choose from 5 colours * White floor tiles are not standard $800 to upgrade I could go on forever. Its really disapointing and it hasnt even started yet. I hope it goes smoothly from here on, the colour appointment will be interesting tomorrow. Im thinking Ill start a build thread then. Hi Decambla. Yes we moved in about 2 months ago, has actually gone very fast. Still settling in slowly.. . Yes we have issues: the most current being, after the heavy rain last week a small part of the ground at the back of the yard decided to sink into the ground. The water kept running down the cracks and we couldn't figure out why, so we called the water board and it's suspected the sewage system most likely has a crack in it and the water is flowing through, which is bad because all the soil will eventually block the pipes causing a very major problem. Also there were problems with the AC not working, but it is fixed now, and one or two hairline cracks in the cornice, window sills and skirting. But very minor. Really, that's really appalling, why so many delays? I hope your settlement for the land is soon but!! . Also you make a good point about Simonds standard range, I too would agree with you. - We paid about the same price with our bricks, they were upgraded (est. $3000) - Thats a very hefty price for an alfresco. Now I don't know what promotion you have, but in ours, it cost around $7000 and I assume that's for everyone not in the promotion too. - Yes the caesar stone colours are very minimal, but if you don't know what to pick go with neutral colours. - OMG, our tiles are white and from the standard range. Only unless they changed there range. Okay hope all is well at the Colour Appt. Tell me when you've started your thread!! THE LONG AWAITED SETTLING PHOTOS!!! 314Jun 21, 2012 4:19 pm HI Jovie, I am building with SImonds as well. The Leon. I was wondering, what is the height of your slab from ground level? Thought Id ask because a house built with a slight slop looks much better then a levelled one. Hope your still contributing to this forum. Congratulations! Nice to put that to bed before christmas, now you can relax 3 7692 What? It's a lighting question, the control joint is only needed at 12m centres, a bulkhead or change of direction will suffice as a 'break' in the ceiling, just make… 8 9016 |
