I see your point.
I guess I'm viewing it as a preventative action. I'd rather identify an issue before it happens. I also believe if I was adamant that I did not a certain individual or team to work on the house then I they could accommodate it. Of course that would theoretically require waiting for a different individual or team to become available and I would have no cause to complain for any delay. But I would accept that. I'm made it pretty clear to my SS that I'm in no hurry, I would prefer quality over haste.
I recently read about a fellow RI customer in Northam who has experienced some poor workmanship and got a little scared. I guess I have no choice but to trust my builder.
If they do indeed start the bricklaying next week I won't even be around to see it. I'll be camping in Denmark and hopefully catching a few salmon. Out of sight, out of mind!
