Btw, I am replacing the kitchen door knobs with wrought iron ones to match all my wrought iron stuff and the woodstove. All ones at prestart too modern. So I just chose the simple knobs for now. After h/over I will gradually replace them. Most likely I will use these small twist ones, I love them: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Our Half Acre Heaven- lockup and heaps of progress!! 285Feb 04, 2014 7:46 pm one more pic of the kitchen.... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We were promised (& PAID for) an extra chipboard covering over the kitchen benchtops to protect the diamond gloss whilst still under construction. It hasn't been done. There's some sort of cork stuff over the plastic and my darling rang SS who said not good enough. I HOPE he sorts it out before anything happens!!!! Otherwise we have pics to say they didn't do it right from the start, so fingers crossed it will be in place soon and there won't be any damage.... Re: Our Half Acre Heaven- lockup and heaps of progress!! 286Feb 04, 2014 7:48 pm According to the site supervisor the painter starts later this week. Wow, all this progress is amazing to me. The plumber has also been in. I'm hoping to have more photos to post soon. We have chosen a wood look laminex for our kitchen, so nerves about it . They have done a really good job in making the lines match up on those drawers . Iv seen some horrible line ups . The satin heartwood looks beautiful and "natural" as I hoped it would. The painter didn't come as planned, we are apparently getting another guy as the original painter is too far behind (5 houses). Site super pointed this out to us; apparently he has no idea why they haven't done it yet! And cos DH is a relentless gardener, we've started on a small woodland area near the boundary (which won't be in the site clean). One (ES) banksia integrifolia, bridal star, night jasmine, a couple of grevilleas: a Firesprite for the birds, a bippinatifida and native irises. Also another banksia grandis is right on the edge. There's a couple more plantings but I can't spell the names! The area directly in front is where we will get mulch and manure etc delivered so it won't be developed. The area behind the rock plantings will be our pond. We're excited about our garden plan!! He was one of the two trades we were allowed to nominate & he's an excellent tiler. Because of work and other commitments I can't get down for a couple of weeks so have to rely on photos my darling will take... Drat it all!!! It's getting too exciting to be away from it... Love your kitchen and again the living space is amazing. Love your wrought iron handles. Garden is looking good. will be so nice that when you move in you have some vegetation around the place. We have the choice of either coming down for a meeting with the tiler or having meeting via phone. What would you recommend. Do you think it is essential to be there? We have the choice of either coming down for a meeting with the tiler or having meeting via phone. What would you recommend. Do you think it is essential to be there? Hi Jibs, thank you! Once we move down our 300 plus plants it will actually look a bit like instant garden.... AKB, I just realised why I love the wrought iron handles, they are similar to what they used to have on the classic old black and brass trimmed wood stove oven door...Thank you Home Angels, I am happy that my alternative choice has worked so well. Jibs, To answer your question, the SS told me that the tiling meeting is just to physically confirm that the tiles delivered on site are in fact exactly what you ordered. Anything more than that- such as tile layout etc, (specific requests re features) he said could be covered directly with the tiler (although they usually do run through this all at the same time). Did you get detailed diagrams on the final plan and addenda notes as to how and where features etc are to be laid? We were glad to be there as I had to change the way our laundry feature tile was to be laid. Our tiler pointed out that the chocolate pencil would be running through the middle of the taps if I stayed with the feature sandwiched between the two wall tiles. It looked great in theory! (We saved money by using the standard 200x200 wall and floor tiles this time since we paid a ridiculous amount to the builder for laying our feature tiles and the pencils.) So the tiling suppliers (who confirmed the way it was to be laid) aren't as cluey as we hope they are! I hope this helps your decision. Thanks everyone else for your encouraging words Re: Our Half Acre Heaven- tiling pics- almost completed! 298Feb 13, 2014 10:37 pm I'm happy to post some pics of tiling in progress, happier still because the schedule has been freed up this weekend so I can see it all in person!! and it will all be finished tomorrow: The laundry: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Bathroom with potpourri pencil: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Ensuite with heath pencil: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Kitchen from FFL: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Where the woodstove sits: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Close up of my roosters, "the Boys" with the candy twist border.
