Amber tiles gave me a sample of all my tiles. We still haven't chosen our feature tiles but i'm pretty sure you'd have to buy a sample of those if you wanted them.

the cso seems to be the contact once everything goes to head office - the cso rang me on thursday to say that everything had been sent to private certifier, and all the letters i've been getting are signed off by her - she seems very helpful ::smile::

Buy samples? Did you have to buy your samples? :::

We got all ours for free, one porcelain, one standard ceramic (wall) and two different feature tiles. I highly recommend dealing with Majer over Amber, Majer have a bigger range and were much more willing to discount tiles so they would fit in Coral's allowance.

I'll get the wifey to post pics in our thread.

That might depend on the shop you are going and not on the name, Alk, because our experience with Amber and Majer are totally the other way around. Majer was not very clear about how much a discount/m2 would be while Amber was very quick in discounting $ 7 / m2.
Bringing home some free tiles would be a great support in choosing the Laminates so if we go with them I'll make sure we'll get them too. Thanks for the tip.

Isn't it funny how different the tile companies are. I guess it depends on which branch you are dealing with. We had better luck with Amber down here on the coast. They had a great selection and straight away priced matched our main floor tile so that we could get everything through them. And were more than willing to give us free samples.

I was speaking with our SC this morning and he said from here on in Coral only deal with Beaumont Tiles but if you've already made your selection with Majer & Amber then that is fine. But any new selections are all to go through Beaumont.

hi bek, i just rang my sc she and she has confirmed the same info, but she's said that as the finishes booklet sent out with my contracts had all the other suppliers listed, as long as i was happy to, i could still stick with them... ::smile::

i'll have to go for an outing tommorrow perhaps...poor little n, i'm sure he's sick of drving around ::sad::

We went to the Sales Guy yesterday and he confirmed that too. Because of the shops listed in the yellow booklet we can go to all four, yeahhh. :z:

Taking this opportunity to talk tiles, one of the ladies at Majers told us that we had to pay extra to get 400 x 400 mm wall tiles layed, she stated that only the 330 x 330 tile was included in the price. The booklet says 450 x 600 mm max.

Then when the CSO rang about our appoinment she warned me not to choose a heavy wall tile because that would generate higher costs as more thrusses would be needed in the frame. What kind of house are they building you wonder?

Has anybody had this kind of information?

hi annilies - from what i can figure 330 x 330 is the max that is included in their price, but 450 x 600 is the max they will lay so they will lay the bigger tiles if you want them, but it will cost extra. I can also understand why the tiles would need more support than standard 300mm or 500mm wide trusses and standard gyprock would provide ::wink::

i think a 400 x 400 tile could be quite heavy... maybe ask Suh? her house is finished and she used large wall tiles i think... :th:

Thanks, good idea to ask Suh. Today we had a look at Beaumont Tiles in Kunda Park but they are not really up to scratch in their new contract with Coral having hardly any 330 x 330 Floor Tiles on display. The good thing is that they offer Perry Homes's silver stickered tiles for Coral as well and they are in the $30 price range.
We queried the heavy wall tile and extra thrusses issue and none of the shop recognised it.

ooooh, exciting news!!! i went to the coomera retreat displays yesterday and saw my galley kitchen :z:

i loved it, it was HUGE!!! i also saw my CS ice snow benchtops (99%sure they were ice snow ::study::

) in the stradbroke display - lovely ::lol::

i also chose a carpet from the silver range - not quite the colour i thought i was looking for but it's a 50% wool blend in a neutral colour - so i should still be able to have some nice feature walls without the carpets clashing ::wornout::

there were some beautiful soft carpets there, and i thought and thought on it, bit realistically, i have a 2 year old boy - i had to go one of the "heavier duty" carpets :lol:

otherwise it could need replacing within 2 or 3 years and i don't want that thanks... ::wink::

I have also reevaluated some of my colours ideas lately - the grey theme has gone out the window ::sad::

but mainly because most of the laminates i was liking just didn't sit well with the grey theme...the main thing though it to create a fresh, open, bright space - how hard can it be :lol:

also, question - does anyone know what internal wall paint whites they've used in the coomera retreat displays? (bek, i'm hoping you can help me here ::lol::

) i was hoping to get the colour sheets but the lady was sooo busy that i thought it could just wait... ::sad::

also, other sort of exciting news - i got my insurance certificate from the BSA today in the mail and i sent of my application for the boundary relaxation ::wornout::

You sound like you've been busy Jess.

I was at the displays twice over the weekend, we may have even walked past each other LOL! The Hamilton is painted in Dulux Lexicon Quarter and the one next door is Dulux Natural White, what we're going with now. And yes the benchtops are either CS Ice Snow or QQ Ice, they're basically exactly the same colour but i'm not sure which brand Coral use with regards to their stone.

And I hear you with the carpet. With two boys myself i'm stearing clear of Wool altogether and going with a solution died nylon. It's costing us a bit more but it has a 15 year warranty, which i'm sure i'll need

Silver range is nice, top choice.
We went for the violet carpet in that range, the missus thought i'd lost it when I said I thought purple carpet would be the goer ::celeb::

What colour did you go for and got a pic?

Also out of interest, how much did it cost to apply for boundary relaxiation???

Great news, Jess, about the BSA paperwork. We got ours last week so we might start building around the same time, hey? :z:

We are in our second week in Council, so 2 to 4 weeks more to go.

Regarding the tiles we decided to go with Amber Noosaville after visiting Amber M'dore at the same day as Beaumont. We could'n find anything there either so we are happy we explored all the possibilities and decided to go with a 300 x 450 Marble White high gloss wall tile ($35/m2) for Ensuite, bathroom and toilet.
They also had a 330 x 330 floortile ($33.00/m2) in several colours and we choose blue for the Ensuite, black for bathroom and toilet and grey for the Laundry.
For the rest of the house we are going to buy a 600 x 600 Marble White high gloss ourselves.
At the moment we are causing ourselves a headache in order to come up with a nice feature in Ensuite and bathroom. Because the latter will be black and white it might as well be something in daring colours and texture.
July 14th we have our finishing appointment so we are counting down and still have some things to decide.

Just a little question to you all, does anybody know what kind of costs the laying of a rectified wall tile will incur?
I rang the SS but he doesn't have a tiler appointed to our job number yet, so I can't ring anybody for a quote.

maybe your chosen wet area tiles will be so WOW you may not even need a feature annelies ::wink::

they sound exciting and very daring!

i'll drag mum along with me - she wants to go anyway as the hamilton display is for sale as a leaseback and she enquired on the weekend about the price, leaseback term etc - i hope mum and dad buy it, it would be sooo cool to own a display home ::hyst::

Thanks Jess, yeah, not sure about the features either. Regarding the extra costs for rectified I asked a couple of people who are in the progress of building on this Forum. Hopefully they'll know.

Another question is about the M2 of the wet areas. How do you know how many M2 tiles you need without any drawings? Or is that something they do at the Tile Shop based on the floorplan or did you contact Coral about that.
I asked the Sales Guy before when we wanted the size of the splashback and we ended up measuring the kitchen in de display home. Surely that can't be the way to do it, isn't it?

Trust me it will look good with our Kempas floorboards.

We didn't apply for a boundary relaxation so we are 6m back. Just was wondering how much Council slugs everyone for really doing nothing on their part.

hi annelies, the m2 for the wet areas would be included in the contract price and can be worked out from your 1:100 floor plan how much tiling is required...do you mean for the walls? whene i spoke to majer they said they would need the plans so you could have your tiles appointment, i'm assuming so that they could measure up and calculate any extra... :th:
