Nah! Too easy
For us, nothing has happened today, as I just visited during my lunch. I was too nice to sign the PCI with some items inclomplete, eg. stairs carpet, skirtings, shower screen to name a few. But, like others, when you reach this stage, you just want to sign, get the keys and move in. You pretty much had enough.
As to our electricity grid connection, not happy We paid $880 upfront for a promise to have electricity by last Friday. They claimed rain, even though last Friday there was no rain. Then due to "changes in regulations" that they claim they did not know, I ended up chasing the job with the provider, provide the electrician with the job number, yet today, still no connection. Did I also mention no communication about when it will be done? As I said, once people get their money, they do not give a sh.t. It's not that I'm running out of the country for $880
My advice to all. Do not sign off your PCI till all the major work is done, and all is left are paint retouch and fixes.
If a service says they require the money upfront, find someone else to do the job for you. Plenty out there.
Like my landscaper. I offered deposit to confirm the job with him, he said "Not till the job is done and you are happy with my work". No wonder he is still in business after 25 years.
I totally get the sign off in PCI Vatche - right now we are so eager to get into the house I think I would just about sign off in anything!!!
We have also learnt the hard way about paying in advance and the very valuable lesson of not trusting that people have correctly recorded your selections - check everything before you sign - lesson to everyone!!!!
I drove up by our place last night and force of habit checked all the doors to make sure if was secured (we have had light fittings we've paid for separately installed already) and saw our flooring was laid - it's looking pretty good. Will try to get a pic and post soon. From what we can tell just a few minor things to finish off now - like the installation of the toilets lol! But PCI is possibly next week!!!
A bigger house yes pls would love to see the floors. On pci look I say until what is a not negotiable is finished don't move in . We delayed 2 out of our 4 weeks holidays to get some stuff rectified now all that is missing are a couple of lights and the dishwasher panel. You will find the longer you wait the more that not negotiable list diminishes
Even though we have waited a while all the trades called not everything is done but they have been polite and professional and I really don't have anything negative to say about the after sales service . Yes you have to wait a bit but the bulk of the house is done and its beautiful trust me guys it will all be ok. Big hugs and good wishes
