Will post pics when we can get inside again, oh yeah can't wait for carpet. Driveway first though, hopefully next week, would be wonderful. Re: Building Clarendon Madison. 265Aug 02, 2009 3:36 pm Here ya go, steps photo, it look a little ratty around the alfresco concrete edge but that will be tiled later. I'll need to sort out some ag-pipe for it. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is NOT clean! Well not by my standards. http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r293/Heathenpics/DSCN0221.jpg Aaaaaaah sooooo close now, so keen to get the driveway and flooring in. Re: Building Clarendon Madison. 266Aug 02, 2009 5:44 pm Very nice steps. Indeed! Thanks for the pics. Love the render colour. Dosn't seem to be my definition of CLEAN either I wouldn't be too happy about that front step. If they knew that they were going to dig out that much then they must have known that they would need a....a......a.......OH YES THAT''S IT...by gee I've got it...A ....STEP! cheeky today aren't I? www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Building Clarendon Madison. 267Aug 02, 2009 6:54 pm Why thank you very much, I really like the colours also, I think they are Mocha and Wallybut, with Surfmist window frames and door/garage door. Though I can't claim credit for choosing them or I'll be in trouble. Yes a step at the front door would have been nice and I agree it's obvious something would have been needed, though I've got that sorted out, the concretor doing our driveway said he'd make it look "all nice" for us and drain correctly. C put a big drainage pipe in next to the garage for the driveway gutter/grate to connect into the rear easement, someone was thinking there, phew. Will post pics of the driveway when done. If we can ever get inside again I'll remember my camera next time too. Re: Building Clarendon Madison. 268Aug 02, 2009 7:49 pm Your house looks great! it won't be too long now!! I was told that all steps in a stairs must be is equal height, that's the regulation. The first step seems a bit shorter?? Building Clarendon Brighton - Done and moved in Sept 2009 Re: Building Clarendon Madison. 269Aug 03, 2009 7:19 am eho Your house looks great! it won't be too long now!! I was told that all steps in a stairs must be is equal height, that's the regulation. The first step seems a bit shorter?? Hmmmm, thanks eho I did'nt know that, though maybe once the tiling is done it will raise the first 1 a little. Re: Building Clarendon Madison. 270Aug 06, 2009 7:19 pm Still no handover date, final inspection was 2 weeks ago, so the house is finished, most of the faults have supposedly been fixed, so I really can't understand why they keep dragging this on at such a late stage. SS says he is waiting on a report from Boral to make sure the gyprock is of correct quality, I don't understand this either. Anyway if we have no handover date by Monday we will be going to the office sometime next week to throw a big tantrum, such a pain to have to do that just before handover, but it's looking inevitable. Re: Building Clarendon Madison. 271Aug 06, 2009 7:40 pm Why don't you ring Boral and ask them how long it takes for an answer to that question. But hang on...isn't the gyprock already ON the walls INSIDE? Is that what you mean? Does that mean that they would rip it all out if it wasn't up to standard. Maybe I am misunderstanding what you mean? www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Building Clarendon Madison. 272Aug 06, 2009 8:32 pm This was what I was wondering also, just makes no sense unless that is what they mean, I'm sure it will be ok though. SS will call us when he receives the report, though we will call his supervisor tomorrow and see what she says.
You'd think they would just want to finish the thing and get our money asap. Also in the contract it says C will not be responsible for any damaged fences, hmmmm now I know why, anyway just because it says they are not responsible does not mean they have to actually destroy it without regard for the neighbours and us. They had frames leaning against it and now earth has piled up about 40mm on the fence and knocked it right over. A labourer with a shovel would take 30 mins to fix this but I guess I will be now. Lucky my parents own a grog shop, time for drinkies, mmmmmmmmmmmmm numb, yeah much better. Re: Building Clarendon Madison. 273Aug 07, 2009 1:12 pm Hi Heathen, Your house is looking great! I am also building a Madison. Just one thing I noticed in your photos, on our plans it has a front porch. i.e. a concreted area. It seems you only have the threshold. Something you should check on your plans...or did you deliberately leave it out so you can have the driveway and porch as one? Re: Building Clarendon Madison. 274Aug 07, 2009 4:53 pm Hi Oneshow,
Thanks for the nice comment, great choice on the "Madison" too, heh. Uuuummmmm you mean you get a real porch?????? I will bring it up with C and ask why, I would'nt be surprised if someone did forget it. Though we are getting a concretor to do the porch and garage in one, my Dad asked the same thing the other day when we were looking at the photos. The driveway design document we received from C showed the area we had to concrete and the porch was part of it. Re: Building Clarendon Madison. 275Aug 07, 2009 5:09 pm I think the "porch" in the plans is actually the steel supports and brick columns for the front balcony, on the plans this is what they are marked as. Actually it's better this way as the porch area shown on the plans only goes across 1 garage, that would mean when our concretors do the driveway it will look homogenous instead of having expansion joints where old concrete would meet new concrete. I think the plans just show "porch area" and not actual concrete. You'll see what I mean when the driveway is done. Re: Building Clarendon Madison. 277Aug 07, 2009 6:11 pm bel Hey Heathen, Missed the end of your build! Looking great and hopefully you have a handover date now? Bel Thanks so much Bel. Though still no handover date even after today's effort of making calls and trying to get a date. We have concretor and flooring people calling us looking to start. Re: Building Clarendon Madison. 278Aug 07, 2009 6:30 pm Ok, it is now 1 whole year and week since we demolished our old house, the big C have been nothing but hell to deal with every step of the way, we really wish we walked away, even after paying $4,000.
Right at the start they wasted 6 months of our time, in December it will be 2 years since we signed up with them. There are people on this forum who were signed with C but walked away at the last minute, we have followed thier build threads after using another builder and watched them move in to thier beautiful homes while we are still waiting. Our SS has been hard to contact this week, been elusive with reasons why we have not had handover. We are unlikely to get handover next week either. Re: Building Clarendon Madison. 279Aug 07, 2009 7:35 pm Heathen, I so feel for you, we were with them & due to start this time last year, probably the same time frame as you. When we pulled out I thought that it would take heaps longer but we have gone through the planning stage & gone back to Council & we are now in our new home. I am sure that you will be in very soon & it will all be a distant memory when you don't have to deal with them any more. Your home looks fantastic, I bet you can't wait to enjoy it. We now have a blog. http://allaboutthebuild.blogspot.com/ Re: Building Clarendon Madison. 280Aug 08, 2009 10:30 am Hi Danma, Thanks, yes we are very happy with the home but as you mentioned the time it has taken is unbelievable, I think W did a great job on your home too and in maybe a third of the time including the pre-build stuff. Just amazing, obviously thier customer service is terrific. I feel so sorry for anyone going through the same hassles we are. I still highly recommend using a reputable independent inspector though, otherwise they will try and get away with anything they can. It is Genneral stairs, but they won't deal with anyone off the street. They will only work with clients of project home builders. I tried to but some of these exact… 3 9173 The two 15mm holes are obviously not compliant. The Dept of Fair Trading would love to see this one! Do the gutters pool water after it stops raining?
