Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building a PD Illoura 241Feb 06, 2009 8:36 am Zerosignal, the same issue can happen with Nougat.
I was out at the new Point Cook displays and there was a Simonds single storey with Nougat. There is a lot of green near the sales office door on the bricks. I am very worried also. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Building a PD Illoura 242Feb 06, 2009 8:47 am Might have to give Austral a call..
Did you ever speak to them Mikky? Re: Building a PD Illoura 243Feb 06, 2009 9:04 am mikkyG iTalk Great house and colours. I'm about to build with PD (well the building process might start in July) and I was wondering what brick colour you have in your house. I was after something like yours but unfortunately ourhome is going to be from the 'Lifestyle' range. Thanks Our bricks are called Parchment. Keep an eye out for how the green brick siutation progresses before jumping in I say. I'm lost in here. What's the green brick situation ? Re: Building a PD Illoura 244Feb 06, 2009 9:28 am Yep Jo is right - Nougat can turn green, in fact i spoke to both Boral and Austral as we have always had our eyes set on a light brick and they told me it can happen to any of the lighter bricks.
They said it is not a fault of the bricks and it actually has to do with the acid washing process. Apparently lighter bricks should be hang washed/sponged rather than acid washed, and the reason alot of them turn green is because whoever is responsible for the brick cleaning either doesn't read the packaging (apparently it is written on it) or they can't be bothered doing the hand cleaning which is more time consuming. My bricks are fine now - no greeness, but I'm very worried as to what they could turn out like after the cleaning. My karma ran over your dogma Re: Building a PD Illoura 245Feb 06, 2009 10:44 am iTalk I'm lost in here. What's the green brick situation ? Jump back to page 15 and have a look about half way down the todo list theres a picture of some green bricks. As said above the light coloured bricks can have a reaction to the acid washing process and they turn a shade of green. PD have had the guys out once already to neutralise the bricks but it hasnt made any difference. It'll be very high on the 'you dont get the last cheque until' list come monday. I spoke to a few people and never got told the handwashing speel. I guess there could be something in that but seriously who is going to hand wash the morter off the outside of a 30sq house? Jump back to page 15 and have a look about half way down the todo list Sorry to hear that. It does look awful. Well let's hope PD could fix it for you Re: Building a PD Illoura 247Feb 06, 2009 2:59 pm I actually emailed my CSC and said how can this be prevented. She said they spoke to SS and he said if it did happen they would get someone out to neutralise the bricks and then the would go back to normal (seems like it didn't work for you MikkyG)
She also said something about they are more likely to turn green in winter than in Summer due to the cold My karma ran over your dogma Re: Building a PD Illoura 248Feb 06, 2009 3:34 pm I just got a call from our new SS, PD have cancelled the PCI for Monday. Our old SS handed over to the new guy who when he saw what was left he felt we weren't really at PCI time yet. Not really upset as we were thinking the same but were kinda hoping that we were wrong
We are still going to meet he new SS on Monday to go over the list. For now tho bring on a trip on the spirit of Tasmania. Be back on here maybe Monday. Re: Building a PD Illoura 250Feb 16, 2009 8:02 pm Well back from our little trip over to Tas, we were moving my mum and dad back, bringing their cars back on the boat, it was a good trip and we managed to evade the 47 degree day in Melbourne.
Well theres been HEAPS of activity out at the site. Just about everything is in, these pictures are about a week old now, so tomorrow I plan to get some new ones. Our trilock cost either $150 or $250 lisanne - sorry I can't remember which it was, hopefully MikkyG can Our bricks went green too Mikky, only a few on the side but frustrating none the less. Is your issue resolved? My karma ran over your dogma Re: Building a PD Illoura 254Feb 17, 2009 7:38 am haywgl Wow! It all looks great Love the tiles and the splashback. Is your issue resolved? Nope I cant remember what it cost us, I dont remember being too scared of the price when they gave it to us so Im going to go with $150 I dont know what these handles generally feel like but ours has a fair bit of play in it, something I'd normally associate it with someone having yanked it heaps, ahh well we'll see how that plays out. How could I have missed the green bricks!? Yup the bricks are on longer green! Well there are a couple out the back that they missed but what ever they did to em it worked a treat! And PD even had the blue brick cut out and replaced with a non blue varierty brick Re: Building a PD Illoura 256Feb 17, 2009 6:43 pm Okay heres some new pictures
Our bathrooms all done yay! And I managed to find some of the contact glass fog stuff for the bathroom window, one thing we forgot for contract variations. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ So Jackie's like a little over 5 foot tall? And those are 9 foot ceilings and the mirror has a 2cm gap from the cornice.. Jackie's going to need a rag on a broom handle Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The main bathrooms just missing some plater to fill where they put up too many tiles. The mirror bloke just wanted to put the mirror over the top because it would cover it but the SS insisted it be filled, undercoated then mirror over the top, top bloke. Jackie's going to love cleaning this one, it goes all the way to the top and side to side over the bath and vanity. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Mmmm more splash back... ahgghhhhghghg... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Theres a funny story to this, at pre plaster Kev noticed that one of the studs had been cut part way through and needed strengthening. Our SS at the time said it was done but we were always a little unsure of it. We asked the new SS but he was unable to find enough evidence in the paperwork to satisfy himself that it was actually done. So at the PCI we decided they would take the plaster down and make double sure it was fixed. You can't really see it from the picture, but it turns out it was! (Sorry Trav ) But I've got to say that I am VERY HAPPY how far PD went to make sure that everyone was sure it was done properly! Well done! Hey guys building a new place through a volume builder and just wondering if i should complain to the site supervisor as we just had plasterboard installed. Looks like… 0 11836 Elvis has left the building... The site supervisor quit after 2 month on the project. I guess he was just instructed to bark at people, but didn't like when he was… 26 21631 |
