Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2381Jul 17, 2011 8:26 pm I know I know.... we're getting there. Plantation shutters, we'll be going with E Shutters. They were in Chippo, Now in Auburn I think. Bek recommended them a while back. We are very happy with the price. They do vinyl and basswood. I would actually like recommendations for concreters myself when it comes time I'll be keeping an eye out for any responses. Cheers For all your joinery needs, we custom build kitchens, office, wardrobes, garage, laundry fit outs plus TV units, pantry, linen and everything in between. PM me for more info or details. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2382Jul 17, 2011 9:05 pm Congrats Bel, must be so exciting ![]() Noticed your brick fence was done, did your builder let the fence go up before handover or did you do it after you took ownership ?. We are STILL waiting for our practical completion inspection !, was suppose to be last week but still haven't herd anything. Concrete crossover for driveway done Friday, looks like driveway pavers tomorrow, hopefully. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2383Jul 18, 2011 7:26 pm ![]() So on a great note we got the keys on Friday, on a bad note let the real stress begin. Strange how our building process went so smoothly and now actually trying to organise everything to move in has been a huge huge stress. Really nice having people drive by, walk by etc and stop for a chat and offer advice just goes to show what a great community GF is. Soooo good Bel, House looks great and the fence is looking good too. It's hard to move with little ones but you'll get there in the end! Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2384Jul 18, 2011 8:00 pm FINALY our carpet went in today and drive way fully completed also, can't be far off now ...... ![]() Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2385Jul 18, 2011 8:15 pm Well done Wayne. Almost at the finish line. For all your joinery needs, we custom build kitchens, office, wardrobes, garage, laundry fit outs plus TV units, pantry, linen and everything in between. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2387Jul 18, 2011 8:44 pm They should have started painting today. Didn't see inside so not sure. Give about a week or so I would imagine then what's next? Garage door, water tank, electrical and plumbing fit off etc.... then flooring. Doesn't sound like too much but it will drag on for sure. For all your joinery needs, we custom build kitchens, office, wardrobes, garage, laundry fit outs plus TV units, pantry, linen and everything in between. PM me for more info or details. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2388Jul 18, 2011 8:51 pm Yer I know what you mean, it drags on so slow at this stage, probably your common area tiles will be after painting. Have they done your bathroom tiling yet ?. Even at the stage we are we still have approx 6 weeks for defects etc. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2389Jul 18, 2011 9:05 pm Bathrooms are tiled. Finished last week. We're getting bamboo floors downstairs. SS said they'll complete everything except flooring. Do a walk through. Pick all defects which 95% will be paint. Fix defects prior to flooring in case a whole wall or ceiling needs re-painting. Then bamboo goes down which means downstairs skirtings get removed and installed on top. Painter will redo skirtings, then just before handover, carpet. Thats the plan so we'll see how it pans out I guess. For all your joinery needs, we custom build kitchens, office, wardrobes, garage, laundry fit outs plus TV units, pantry, linen and everything in between. PM me for more info or details. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2390Jul 18, 2011 9:48 pm Sounds like a better plan than we have at present, was shocked to see carpet down before inspection, and I know one area of ceiling that needs re setting, along with some doors that need repair and paint on carpeted areas !. Anyhow best to just go along with the way they do it I suppose. Hey Waynee we were able to do brickwork before handover, but handover was only a few days away and anyway as it is our land it really does not have anything to do with the construction of the house. Hopefully you will have your inspection this week. ![]() Soooo good Bel, House looks great and the fence is looking good too. It's hard to move with little ones but you'll get there in the end! Thanks twodragons+3 noticed you finally have a slab yay. They have been working on your house a lot, well everyday that we have been around so I will keep an eye on it for you. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2397Jul 20, 2011 1:18 pm Hi everyone, I am thinking about purchasing land in GF but I am concerned about floods in the area. Has anyone had any issues with acquiring insurance for floods or even fire? Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2398Jul 20, 2011 1:27 pm Just so you know, the entire estate is above the 1 in 100 year flood level, so you don't need to worry about that. Some parts of the estate down near Brickmakers Drive are classified as being in the bushfire zone, so you would be up for a few additional things as part of the build (weephole mesh covers etc), but you should have no issues with getting home insurance. Re: Anyone building at George's Fair, Moorebank? 2399Jul 20, 2011 1:57 pm Great thanks Joanna! I am looking to purchase land in the Brushwood release, but just waiting for the next stage to be released. From what I am seeing land is going pretty fast... does anyone know when the next stage of brushwood would be released? Hi, we live in an area where the black soil is prone to a lot of movement.
