That is fantastic, will note down that info
Thanks
Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Avonlee Henley Brook Perth 2302Jul 05, 2013 5:49 pm We only have a tiny bit of grass out the back but the guys that did the front garden did that and also put retic in aound the pool area for garden beds. It cost about $900 all up. Is anyone having problems with their internet. I hate it. It is so slow. In fact at times its worse than dial up. We tend to use WiFi a lot but even the hard wired computer isnt much better. Telstra are coming out tomorrow to have a look. We paid for the 25 speed but apparently ADSL was similar so they saying 100 speed is what we should go for. Our ADSL was great. Alot better than this. Hoping they find a fault becuase Im not sure we can live with it this slow. Re: Avonlee Henley Brook Perth 2303Jul 05, 2013 6:11 pm No problem with the speeds of the internet at our place. Remember that Wi-Fi speeds will vary from house to house. I don't know where your router is compared to the devices that are using it, for example my router is in a steel box in the garage (not awesome for WiFi speeds) but the computers and Apple TV's are hard wired. I doubt increasing the speed will make a difference at all. When you download a file how fast does it come down or are you just talking about the slowness of browsing web pages? Re: Avonlee Henley Brook Perth 2304Jul 05, 2013 6:28 pm I've got no issues with the net, though we do have the 100 one. Use this site to quickly check what you are getting. Run it with a computer wired in and then try it with via wireless. May be an issue of your wireless router speed/location possible Re: Avonlee Henley Brook Perth 2305Jul 05, 2013 8:56 pm dargonk dunno if this forum blocks out the websites, but it didn't show what site. I used Ozspeedtest website. [`[*Test Results from Oz Broadband Speed Test*]`] [(---------------------------------- Test run on [*05/07/2013*] @ [*08:54 PM*])] [(Mirror: [*iiNet*] Data: [*79 MB*] Test Time: [*10 secs*])] [(Your line speed is [*66.19 Mbps*] (66185 kbps). Your download speed is [*8.08 MB/s*] (8273 KB/s). )] I got the fastest 100 one and although this is wireless was expecting at least 80. either way I think NBN is a bit disappointing. Re: Avonlee Henley Brook Perth 2306Jul 05, 2013 9:17 pm I just did mine and got 85 via wireless, I was getting 95 when in the same room as the router. How far away have you got your router set up? Re: Avonlee Henley Brook Perth 2307Jul 05, 2013 9:29 pm just redone the test right next to my boblite modem not much better... You just didn't notice it before as it was faster than your connection. On NBN and have a speed more than 25M I wouldn't use WiFi to determine speeds. It's not the NBN it's the WiFi. Maybe time to look into the new version of wifi Re: Avonlee Henley Brook Perth 2309Jul 06, 2013 12:33 am We have tried the router in the garage and then in the study but the speed still is up and down. Sometimes we get between 20 and 25 and other times it is as low as 2. We have just had a terrible time with Telstra, they just don't have enough people who know what they are doing. Plus we got duff info re how to set it up and where it could be set up. Almost like building a house, every time you speak to someone you get a different story!! Hopefully the Tech will sort it our tomorrow. Re: Avonlee Henley Brook Perth 2310Jul 06, 2013 9:14 pm Well we are officially fed up with NBN and Telstra. No one turned up today to sort our NBN out. We have put in a formal complaint with Telstra so lets hope that gets us somewhere. May suggest to them we come out of the contract free of charge!! Done speed tests on both the wireless and hard wire. The hard wire is worse than the wireless. It shows 0.00 to 0.01 or you may be lucky and get 0.08. The wireless usually sits around 0.07 to 0.09. We may as well have no internet and Telstra said they cant come out until July 15th.......not good enough if you ask me!!! Re: Avonlee Henley Brook Perth 2312Jul 07, 2013 1:22 am Me too. Should get a call from the complaints manager in the next 24 hrs. Re: Avonlee Henley Brook Perth - Parking 2313Jul 07, 2013 6:31 pm Thinking of writing to the Developer and the Council re parking. Julie-Ann had a few Nursing friends around on Friday just gone and they had no place to park. On the side of our block on Cobb ST we have some used land, I am hoping they will agree to make it into some parking bays. If anyone else would like to see this happen please write to the developer and also lobby our local council. Thanks Re: Avonlee Henley Brook Perth 2316Jul 07, 2013 11:59 pm Hoping some street side parking bays will be put in near the park... Also, as a rule of thumb, don't rely on Internet speed tests done via wifi. Even though your access point may support "up to 300Mbps" speed to your wireless devices, you will rarely get this even when sitting a metre away from access point. Cabled Ethernet is the best way. Noticed my phone picked up 4G on my visit last week; didn't do a speed test on that though. Re: Avonlee Henley Brook Perth 2317Jul 08, 2013 9:32 am It seems many people with Telstra are having speed issues, my neighbour included. Hope they can fix the issue for you guys soon - I have iinet and have a fairly good connection, speed tests yielding about 96mbps DL and 35ish UL. BJA how far is your first data point (your router) from your NTD? I have a theory regarding slow speeds if the hard wired connection from your NTD is too close to your router (like less than 1.5 meters). Helped a friend who was having similar speed issues, I added some extra length to his data cable from the NTD to his router and it solved the issue. Perhaps there was too much interference/traffic in the small amount of cabling causing a jam or something? Not sure...but maybe have a chat to your tech about it. Both the hard wired and wifi computer here. Then we put the router in the garage above the box because Telstra said it has to be installed there if anyone comes to look at it. The hard wired was worse than the wifi when we put the router in the garage. On Sun night we did a speed test and got up to 25mbps. Crazy as on Sat it was 0.02mbps. However we tried to download some movies to try the 25 speed out and it barely worked. The search pages on google are coming up faster though. It was like they had turned it on or something. Still havent got that call from Telstra. Really not happy with their service. Re: Avonlee Henley Brook Perth 2319Jul 08, 2013 8:45 pm Hey Julie, sounds to me like its a router issue. If u like can come and have a look. May have an idea to try and isolate the problem for you. Let me know. Re: Avonlee Henley Brook Perth 2320Jul 10, 2013 9:00 am Thanks Paul but we think we may have fixed the issue. Stupid Telstra had slowed our internet speed to dial up. Honestly it has been a nightmare. It only took a week or so of being on the phone constantly for someone to tell us that. Even the complaints department havent rang us back. I put in a complaint on Sat and they are meant to get back to you within 48 hrs. Its now Wed and no call. Guess thats another complaint going in!!! We will give it a few days to see if the internet completely fixed!! Hi, If you give a set of criteria as to what means 'good' to you, it'll give others prompts to respond. We considered Henley early on but there were two factors that… 1 12810 1 5131 1 2916 |
