Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 2116May 27, 2012 7:46 am still waiting for PCI date... went to the site yesterday, and found one major issue.. we are doing bamboo flooring with MJH, and we basically ask the colour consultant last time what will be used to hide the spacing in the island bench.. he was confident that it will be the flat metal thing and not the quad beading which we really hate... but that was not the case.. when we checked our house yesterday, they used quad beading around the kitchen... and in some other places without skirting... I have emailed my CSO officer to have it replaced with the aluminium ones which they used in all of their display houses... conern is I'm just worried if they have nailed it already and there is no way for it to be replaced without damaging the island bench.. we don't have a waterfall, just the silk finish thing... Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 2117May 27, 2012 11:07 am Hi Everyone, I have been looking at this forum for over a year now! My husband and i are very interested in building the Bronte on our block on the Mid North Coast. How much should i reasonably expect to pay over the base price of the house? Also, we are not looking to start building until early next year, and have not been to the bank yet about a loan - when would you suggest i contact McDonald Jones about starting the process? Also, we are not looking to start building until early next year, and have not been to the bank yet about a loan - when would you suggest i contact McDonald Jones about starting the process? Thamks There is something just a few posts earlier about expectation over base price - most were around 100k-ish but of course it depends on your upgrades etc. If you actually wanted to start in say February, and you have already checked out any considerations for land etc, and really have a good idea of what you want, maybe 4 months from there but factor in Xmas ? If MDJ do a tender for you, that price will be honoured for 150 days, otherwise you could just start your prelim discussions with them and talk about upgrades etc. We first started talking with them in Dec 2010 but we had alot of back and forth as we moved between designs, made alterations to design, had assessments done on the land/bushfire etc, undecided on pool, floors, finishes, upgrades. - First quote was in July 2011, paid deposit then - July/August - alot of back & forth on some finishes, what was 'standard' etc, variations to tender - Sep - sign off on prelim plans - Oct - colour appointment (selecting upgrades etc) - Nov - consolidated tender - Dec, plans went to estate developer (not required for everyone obviously, we had to do this though & they were 4 weeks with estate awaiting approval, including landscape plan) - Jan, plans to council - Feb, electrical appointment - March, construction began, piering etc - April - slab, frame, drainage - May - bricks, roof, electricals, plumbing - Sept eta completion Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 2119May 27, 2012 12:21 pm Hi Everyone 106 pages is a bit too much to go through Have always loved the finish and lay outs of the MDJ homes but with the size of my block we need a double story to have some kind of backyard, is there anyone that has built the one and only double story that MDJ have?
