Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Leanne's Build #2 - Baldivis 201Jan 19, 2013 12:39 pm Nice thread LeanneR! I love the house design and edits you made to the original. Interesting choice to situate the master bedroom in the centre of the home, but I think that way you would ensure peace and quiet (as opposed to having it at the front of the house where you get noise/traffic/garbage disposal etc and at the back of the house you can possibly get noise from neighbours, parties, etc). Love the wardrobe change, much more practical. The block looks terrific and I really feel for you about the wait of land titles. I remember putting my deposit down for my block in February 2012, and it took about 4-5 months for titles to be made, and after all the pre-start and loan paperwork etc it is only until now almost a year later that the slab is coming down. Grr! That's probably the only one major downside to building a home, everything else about it really excites me. The 3D model of the kitchen looked amazing! I wish I could have gotten a 3D visualisation like that too, I think it makes it much easier to select colours, rather than looking at a panel of 1000 different colours and bench-top patterns and trying to use your imagination. One thing is interesting though, New Graphite Laminex will also be used in my home Looks like an exciting 2013 for us all My Build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=62282 Slab: 22/01/13 Brickwork: 13/02/13 Roof: 13/03/13 Lockup: 05/04/13 Handover: 30/05/13 Re: Leanne's Build #2 - Baldivis 202Jan 19, 2013 1:15 pm We signed up 5 months ago for land and for builder (basically within same 2 fortnight). Titles were ment be Nov. builder was allowed access to the lot til 1st Dec hence why we still gotta wait. All good I just keep telling myself by end of year there will be a house! Haha Re: Leanne's Build #2 - Baldivis 203Jan 19, 2013 4:23 pm Leanne - "builder was allowed access to the lot til 1st Dec hence why we still gotta wait" does that mean soil samples came back and placed in final contract? was it more or less then they budgeted for? Re: Leanne's Build #2 - Baldivis 204Jan 19, 2013 6:48 pm 1st dec is when they did the soil test. report came back 10th Dec. No idea on cost yet. They dont do site costs til after they've done working drawings and house on lot drawing. You don't find out site work costs til contracts are ready Re: Leanne's Build #2 - Baldivis 205Jan 19, 2013 9:32 pm Just cooked a delicious thai red curry BUT after myself and the tiles getting spat all over with hot oil & paste it makes me really worried about me having that mirrored splashback lol Slab Poured 30/05/12 Lower Floor Plate High 20/08/12 Upper Floor & Wall Framing 30/08/12 Roof 14/09/12 Lock-Up 13/12/12 Yee haaaaa WE ARE IN & I HAVE A NEW IPHONE Re: Leanne's Build #2 - Baldivis 206Jan 19, 2013 9:46 pm haha I cooked butter chicken and had splatter all over white tiles (non on grout luckily). Luckily there was 10 left and I only needed 8 I like that the couch only has 2 removable base cushions. Our current ones have 6 each. That's 12 cushions to pick up when my boy decides to take it apart haha Re: Leanne's Build #2 - Baldivis 209Jan 20, 2013 6:42 pm LOVE your choices. Absolutely stunning timber. Money doesn't bother me as much its more getting what I want for my money haha Re: Leanne's Build #2 - Baldivis 216Jan 22, 2013 6:39 pm Oh thanks. Why do companies put so many small frames in a set haha. I have found some companies on eBay that do set of 20 or so frames but once again alot of little ones. Re: Leanne's Build #2 - Baldivis 217Jan 22, 2013 9:20 pm That colour in the kitchen is gorgeous.
