Apologies I should have mentioned that the cost for AC is an upgrade to standard Temperzone.

Chellos, how much did you shell out for the AC? What is the model?

Can’t remember offhand exact model but it’s the Fujitsu 20kw inverter plus MyAir5. Was just under 5.5k for the upgrade from the included Temperzone which is non inverter... 👍

We are building a Boston 42 and just went through our first colours appointment today. A few things came as surprises.

Changing cornices is very expensive, provision for rendering came as $5k more, upgrading bench tops is expensive $8k for the marble looking ones. Clarendon also failed to mention the max bench top length of 3 m.

Haven’t got to air conditioning as yet but was interested to see comments so far. Clarendon said that the one included in sapphire package can run half the house at any point in time.

You have done well so far...yes Benchtop is exorbitant.

I was upset because they will charge me $150 X 2 for putting a join on the benchtop if you want a true waterfall edge...at 45 angle.

On top of it during our kitchen appointment didnot get any costs from the girl as ' her
Boss does the costing'...sheer waste of time

Anyways the Aircon guy has been bashed too much, but i think the trick he plays now is a lil different.

Step 1: crib about ppl not knowing difference between inverter and non-inverter AC

Step 2: show you what a Zone 10E looks.like and its drawbacks and then ahow you myAir

Step 3: MyAir5 only works with Inverter AC

Step 4: 20KW Fujitsu + MyAir5 last piece left at $4210 + $800

Hi how did you find your colour selection ours went smoothly but we didnt realise the oxford fascade we choose is infact all brick and not the same as the picture they have on the website. If i’d known would have just chose. Traditional and saved 4k. We are booked in for electricals next week , anything to look out for? Im currently waiting for the aircon guy to get back to me with a deal he can do apparently. Cause i thought 1.5k just for the myair5 was a bit ridiculous. The only difference to the one that comes with the temperzone ac is that you can access it anywhere in the world.

Re the fascade;
We were going to do traditional until the salesperson said it actually doesn't look very good as it's all like flat at the front and looks bit cheap? I don't like cladding or rendering and hence the next best option for us was Oxford. We know it's all brick but at least it has more dimensions to it to make it look more interesting. It was annoying how they don't take off the 4k off the fascade price thou when classic is included the sapphire inclusion.
I think it's about 7k to render the middle pillar. You could always do it after? Read somewhere that used to be included in Oxford but obviously not anymore.

How big is your garage by the way? Did you extend it? Forgot to check the size of standard double garage (6x6m) it appears, and the one included by Clarendon is only 5.5x5.6m. Ours is 5.5x5.73 as had to extend due to council requirements. Now wondering if we should make it bigger.. hmm.. but need to pay variation cost for $1500 and plus

We’re building the parkhill so we do have cemet cladding on the top storey and brick on the bottom. Hopefully it turns out nice with the colours we chose.
The electrical appointment is the last one for us. We’ve done everything else. Just waiting for our land to register so they can start.

Our sales rep had mentioned that the garage for Boston 42 was smaller than normal. No reason for this apparently. We got the measurements of 2 SUVs to make sure that they fit in properly but we also added half a garage to ours. Also ours has a step down so make sure that you can fit your cars around the steps (if you have this in your plans).

I may be wrong here but the standard double garage is 5.6X 5.5m...I got it extend by 0.5m and ran the extension all through the house and it came out to be $6900 for that.

Personally I would recommend people to extend garage as all the rubbish will land in the garage plus some people like to keep gym equipment..

Colors appointment so far has been manageable...about 5K off...still got electricals...

Yeah standard garage included with new builds these days seem to be 5.6x5.5m.

Decided not to extend as realised we can only extend the width by 25cm due to the setback requirement from boundary.

Whereabouts in north west sydney are you building LOLZ? We are in Epping.

Also who is going through CDC versus DA?

I've just paid deposit for Sitedemo. I got quotes from 4 diff companies and they were the 2nd cheapest. surprisingly!

Also which brick did you guys all choose??

The Sydney/New York cornices will set you back about $5.5K depending on which one you choose. You need to know that they have exclusions with this upgrade e.g. WIRs, laundry where Clarendon thinks that people are not going to really look at it. We decided to stick with the standard.

With the air-con, I have a friend building with another project builder and they didn't upgrade air con but instead upgraded their windows and then they are doing solar. Just thinking whether this is an option? We have air-con tomorrow so will ask about this.

Are you doing Boral terracotta tiles for the roof? apparently their warranty becomes void if you install solar panels.
We are doing terracotta so solar panels is out for us.
We will be doing double glazed windows but from what i've read it seems air-con is worthwhile upgrading from non-inverter to inverter.

Did any one of you go with the upgrade from the 10e Temperzone to either the Fujitsu or Daikin?
If so do you think its worth it? I feel like they're trying to get more money out of me from a product that would work fine without the upgrade, they were also trying to sell me the Myair5.
Essentially purchase the inverter because its more efficient but to make it even more efficient you also need to buy the MyAir5.

Did some calculations and If I was to use it almost everyday from Oct-March for 12hrs plus I would be better off with the inverter after 2yrs time but that's based on real rough calculations and I don't think I would use it everyday for that long anyways.

The part that got me really confused was when I asked the aircon consultant that If I was to get solar would the AC draw power from it and mains electricity together and he straight out said the AC will always draw power from the mains. The solar will only help run dishwasher/fridge, lights etc during the day.
I asked my friends who have solar and say that this isn't the case.
Anyone have experience with Solar and ducted AC?

We just did the air-con appointment today and we upgraded to the 20Kw Fujitsu (there is a promo on this brand at the moment). The Myair 5 only works with an inverter system and the Temperzone included in the Clarendon package is not inverter. The Myair 5 allows you to connect security and internet browsing etc so you can put it centrally to use it fully. The consultant said that the temperzone is not compatible with the Myair 5 but we googled and it is but you still have to upgrade the Temperzone system - cost wise, it was better to go with the Fujitsu upgrade + Myair.

Re solar - we asked whether they air con can be run through this and he said yes so not sure about always drawing main comment?

They recommend the French terracotta tiles if you are installing solar because these tiles have a cut out to allow for the solar panel clips.

Yes I upgraded to Fujitsu, as it is an inverter technology with a ramp down function. Check EER of Temperzone and since its non-inverter tge compreswor will run at full strength till the set temp is reached. During day it will run till the sensor temp is reached on the gfloor and in night the threshold will be a sensor on the firstfloor.

MyAir5 has an advantage over Zone 10e as it controls both airflow and temperature.

Solar + AC, well the AirCon guy is right here. Solar panels produce varying levels of electricity depending on angle of sun, temperatute and dispersion due to dust particles in the air. While small appliances can be powered directly with these AirCon needs cobstant high capacity source so either you need an expensive smart battery that can switch as source on thd run or else aircon is hooked to the grid. In essence the cost of running AC on the grid is offset by the solar energy produced and sent to the grid.

This is my underatanding, but plz talk to an expert.
