What I don't get is how they still manage to get business. I know not everyone knows about review websites and this forum but every estate I go to where they are displayed they seem to have the most being built.

What I don't get is how they still manage to get business. I know not everyone knows about review websites and this forum but every estate I go to where they are displayed they seem to have the most being built. Re: Building Clarendon Madison. 22Oct 28, 2008 7:30 am Thanks everyone for the support it's appreciated very much by my partner and I and we would love to discuss the issues of this certain company with anyone willing to share/swap stories. Thanks Clarity we would love to hear from you.
I have been following the other threads here and all us poor C$$$$$$$n customers always seem to be the ones coping with extremely poor service and non-existent organisational skills. So far we have had to organise almost everything ourselves, C$$$$$$$n want nothing to do with basically any part of the project other than building, which don't even seem to do anymore. The Shearwater estate at Warriewood is obviously going to cause problems as they don't seem to be selling well, especially since the Northern beaches has experienced a downturn in property prices. Anyway thanks for listening everyone, also I hope the new builderis more helpful for you too Danma. Cheers Heathen Re: Building Clarendon Madison. 23Oct 28, 2008 10:53 am I feel your pain Heathen - I really do - we are fortunately nearly out of the never-ending nightmare - our house is 'finished', but still have the driveway to complete ,the inspection and the admin red tape to get through before we get our hands on that key...
Our site supervisor told us the other day that Clarendon have 300 slabs they are supposed to pour before Christmas Built a Clarendon 'Balmain' 2008 Re: Building Clarendon Madison. 24Oct 28, 2008 11:07 am 300 slabs are you kidding!!! No wonder they are struggling, it will only get worse as those builds come into there work schedule.
I think that they have taken on way too much work for the contractors and staff that they have. It is only going to hurt their reputation as they get people off side for long delays and bad customer service. We now have a blog. http://allaboutthebuild.blogspot.com/ Re: Building Clarendon Madison. 26Oct 28, 2008 11:55 am Probably the same one that made the decision to make 100 of their staff redundant! Re: Building Clarendon Madison. 27Oct 28, 2008 4:19 pm Yes it really does make me wonder, 300 before Christmas, yeah right, 300 unhappy people I'd say would be more like it.
We went out there today for a sitdown, we were not leaving until we saw someone who had some idea of what is happening. Basically we wanted our money back, anyway we came to an agreement which will be satisfactory if they can abide by it this time, which we got in writing for further ammo should they go back on thier promise. They say it goes to build this Friday and there will be an excavator onsite next week and the slab, outdoor plumbing and framework will be done by Christmas. If they don't keep thier promise we will be out there again fuming worse than today. It's a big promise so let's see if they can do what they say. I reckon the tradies are probably just as frustrated as we customers, I think the guys doing the building will be fine, it's the management which is causing all the problems. Anyway hope they start before we have squatters move in, heh. Re: Building Clarendon Madison. 28Oct 28, 2008 4:24 pm Good work, now lets hope that they come through with their promises.
I bet you feel a whole lot better now. Don't forget to keep us up to date with pics of the new home. We now have a blog. http://allaboutthebuild.blogspot.com/ Re: Building Clarendon Madison. 29Oct 28, 2008 5:11 pm There is really no justifiable reason why they couldn't even do it sooner than that !
In 4 work days, we have had our block cut&filled, levelled, pipes put in & today the formwork/pods for the slab ! The slab has been promised for this week. It is possible. Re: Building Clarendon Madison. 30Oct 28, 2008 5:18 pm Good on you for taking them to task like that - I really hope they can stick by their promise.
Can you imagine what it will be like in 6 - 8 months time with all the first home owners in the market......I just can't see how Clarendon will cope with a massive influx of new clients. Built a Clarendon 'Balmain' 2008 Re: Building Clarendon Madison. 31Oct 28, 2008 7:56 pm Hi Heathen,
I have been a long time "unregistered addicted user" of Homeone Forum. For first time homebuilders, this site is truly a gem! All of my queries and uncertainties have been addressed in this forum without the need for me to register (then). Kudos, hats off, excellent job to all who make up Homeone!!!!! Keep it up!!!!! Yesterday, my husband and I received a very disturbing and unacceptable letter from our builder Cl@rendon about delays in starting the earthworks. We were in total shock!!!!! I knew I needed my dose of homeone forum and decided to register. I came upon your post... we are EXACTLY in the same position. I felt as if I was reading my own homebuilding saga. We signed our contract with Cl@rendon almost a year ago, pegout was done 19 September and Cl@rendon had until 13 October to physically start the earthworks (20 working days provision in the contract). Taking up after you, we intend to meet with Cl@rendon and get firm actions from them. Can't thank you enough for sharing your experience. Please continue with this thread and I shall keep you posted of ours as well. I also welcome any feedback with what is really going on with Cl@rendon. Thanks Southies, now thats action, heh. Helps put my mind at ease. Maxie, yeah we do feel much better about it, we did'nt lose our temper either we just were very stern with them, we are not taking any more and they know it now. They are very worried about their name being tarnished as a lot of customers are way less than happy, as you can tell from this forum and I'm happy to tarnish it if they fall through with ANY more promises. If they can now do what they say I'll give them some praise, I'm a fair guy. I think they just took on toooooo much work, I'm pretty sure they are not broke with these shocking world finance problems. They just seem to have too much work and not enough contractors. Yep don't take it laying down, we really have waited long enough, a year is waaaaaay to long. I actually suggested they lend us a house at thier Shearwater estate until ours is done. Thought it was worth a try. If they can now do what they say I'll give them some praise, I'm a fair guy. Exactly! I couldn't agree more... DH and I have always thanked our SS when things have been done, and also praised the tradies... Its the HO people who aren't helping this company... the HARD workers (the actual people building our homes) are the ones who are probably most stressed as they've got so many jobs on the go. Glad to hear that you guys have been able to get something concrete from them with regards to starting works. Hope this rain doesn't hold things up. Re: Building Clarendon Madison. 35Oct 29, 2008 12:19 pm Rain? What rain? Yeah same here, wish it would go somewhere they really need it.
So true, the backbone of the company are the actual tradies. Anyway I'll try and get some plans up soon, just having to reinstall everything after a computer malfunction, grrrr. Also had some company try to do the hard sell on some aircon, called my partner N and hassled her. Said I was stupid for the way I wanted no ducting to my home theatre, well if he calls back he'll get a rude reply. I can't have any holes cut in the walls for electrical sockets or aircon ducts in the theatre, the powersockets will be run via conduits from the floating floor, plus I'm using light stands instead of light fixtures. Also seperate aircon for the theatre, this will be an actual working music mixing/mastering studio so I can't ruin my soundproofing by cutting holes in walls. The only hole will be for the aircon, which is easily sealed again. If anyone needs any info on soundproofing just ask, no probs. Re: Building Clarendon Madison. 37Oct 29, 2008 4:05 pm Maxie Oh yes the rain....AGAIN - right on the day we are supposed to have the driveway done - aarrrgghhh. Yet another delay Will the big C do your drive way or someone else? Re: Building Clarendon Madison. 38Oct 29, 2008 6:25 pm Yes, they're doing it - it was part of our package price - wish it hadn't been now. I'm really going to spit chips if our schedule for the next 6 weeks gets blown out because of the driveway.
