Browse Forums Building A New House Re: KDR - Coral Homes Daydream 28 - SW Sydney 24Sep 04, 2014 9:22 am Oh, that's much more exciting than a first tender Julie You'll be picking out your colour selections soon - do you have an idea of what you want? I gave our sales consultant a long list of questions yesterday and we're going in for a meeting next Sunday to go through it with him. The demolition part of the whole process is giving me a bit of a scare - seems like it's going to be more complicated than the build. Time seems to be slipping by rather quickly though. We were talking about how it is likely we'll have to do demo in February and it dawned on us that that's only five months away. Time to start doing a serious cull of the kids' toys and our other junk. We still haven't even figured out what we're doing for storage while we build. So much on the 'to do' list Follow my Coral Daydream 28 build: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=72384 Re: KDR - Coral Homes Daydream 28 - SW Sydney 25Sep 04, 2014 10:48 am jul33m1 Hi whzzz28, Where are you building? So your building the Daydream 28? We're building the Marcoola 32 in Oran Park Julie Hi jul33m1, I am building a Noosa 23 narrow lot design at Warner in QLD. Link to thread is in my signature. My Noosa 23 Build - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=72782 Re: KDR - Coral Homes Daydream 28 - SW Sydney 26Sep 04, 2014 2:38 pm Yeah,we're really excited now. We thought that we knew exactly what colour scheme we wanted, but we're changing our minds. We took a drive last weekend to check out the coral displays on the central coast and the ones in Newcastle. We both loved the colours in the display on the central coast(I can't remember the name of The house), I loved the kitchen bench tops they were nutmeg, the tiles were beautiful too, I have to ask our sales consultant what colour they were. Not long now It won't be long for you Mellywil ,this is the busiest time of the year, you'll be knocking your old home down before you know it. I can't wait until we receive our email from Coral. Julie Re: KDR - Coral Homes Daydream 28 - SW Sydney 27Sep 04, 2014 3:04 pm Funny you say that Julie, I'm heading up to the Maitland display centre on the 20th - great minds and all that I'm going up to visit a friend and we're going through the homes because we've both always loved it, and I need help since my husband doesn't really care about colours. I didn't realise that there was a display on the Central Coast. I might be able to drop in there on the way home that day. Or is it not worth it? I've always liked black and white for colouring, is this nutmeg bench going to change my mind? I'm already confused enough Follow my Coral Daydream 28 build: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=72384 Re: KDR - Coral Homes Daydream 28 - SW Sydney 28Sep 04, 2014 3:07 pm Have you decided on what bricks? What facade are you getting? We're getting Designer (ie. plain) but can't decide on bricks Follow my Coral Daydream 28 build: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=72384 Re: KDR - Coral Homes Daydream 28 - SW Sydney 29Sep 04, 2014 4:58 pm Not sure if your area is Boral bricks of PGH, but if it's Boral, try and stick clear of the Horizon Naturals range. They are painted bricks. Get one chip in them and you get an orange that will show through. All the other Boral bricks are colored through but colors are limited. PS: I went with Horizon Hinterland - Emerald (it looks nothing like what is on Boral's website) My Noosa 23 Build - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=72782 Re: KDR - Coral Homes Daydream 28 - SW Sydney 30Sep 05, 2014 1:47 am Mellywil you should definitely go to the display on the central coast, I loved it,the address is 53 Mataram Rd,Woongarrah, the design was the Noosa 25, it's a small home, but really well done. We're having the Hastings facade, we've narrowed the bricks down to 4. The Blackett,Nickle Flash,Gledswood Blend from PGH bricks or renovation gertrudis brown from Austral bricks,we can't decide. whzzz28 is right the bricks look totally different on the websites,go and have a look and you can take some samples if you like. They give you address that have used them. If you go to homeworld in Newcastle look out for the single story Metricon with the Californian facade, that's the look we're after except with a colour bond roof, corals hastings is similar, slightly,we new what facade we wanted even before we had selected a house or builder I can't sleep, just be going over our 3rd tender, the working plans and contracts, the price is great, but still a few minor errors(we must just be unlucky),the main thing is that we're getting the outdoor kitchen and Coral have said that it can't be attached to a wall,so it has to be on the edge of the alfresco,I'm not sure if I like it there! Julie Re: KDR - Coral Homes Daydream 28 - SW Sydney 31Sep 09, 2014 10:58 am Hi everyone, We signed our contracts with Coral yesterday,it's really happening,we have to find someone to do our landscape design for the developer at Oran Park and the council, any suggestions. I'm very excited. Hey,Mellywil let me know what you think of the colours in the Noosa 25, we've decided that we love them so much that we're going to copy them , our sales consultant is building the Coolum and she's decided to copy the Noosa 25 colours also. We're still not sure which bricks to choose,we need to make a decision so that Coral can lodge all of our plans etc with the developer and private certifier, hmm decisions, decisions. How's everyone else going? Julie Re: KDR - Coral Homes Daydream 28 - SW Sydney 32Sep 09, 2014 12:31 pm jul33m1 How's everyone else going? Less than a week till start! Getting excited. I'm heading up to check out the houses next weekend - the 21st, so I'll let you know what I think whzzz - not long now!!! Do you live close to your site? Will you be visiting every day? I know I'm going to find it hard to stay away when our time comes. I've had a flat week - not much interested in the nuts and bolts of it all this week. We're supposed to be meeting our sales consultant on Sunday but my heart just isn't in it. Life has just been crazy busy and I feel like my head is going to explode! Doesn't stop me from stalking people's kitchens and bathrooms for ideas though. No closer to deciding on brick colours either. What facades are you both going with? We're just doing the traditional/standard. We need 2 retaining walls and are meeting with a landscaper on Friday also,it's starting to happen,I can't wait! Julie Re: KDR - Coral Homes Daydream 28 - SW Sydney 36Sep 11, 2014 9:28 am The Hastings was the only other facade we liked, but we like simplicity (aka boringness) when it comes to design, so decided we'd stick with the plain. We need a retaining wall too, but we have to arrange to have it done after the knock down and site scrape, but before anything else. It's all a bit too much for me at the moment. I'm still hoping to go ahead with the knock down in Feb/March though so I guess I'd better start to get my head around it and work out a timeline. Hopefully our meeting on Sunday will help us establish a rough timeline. We're just doing the traditional/standard. I live about 15mins away so i will go down a few times a week. Plenty of photos will follow. I went with the Torquay facade. On the narrow block range it was fairly cheap ($5k) and my estate requires some sort of fancy portico. The standard facade was not enough for their covenant. My Noosa 23 Build - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=72782 Re: KDR - Coral Homes Daydream 28 - SW Sydney 38Sep 12, 2014 3:59 pm Hi Mellywil, I know what you mean about it all being a bit much,we have so many things to organise! We went to the factory that makes the PGH "Blackett",they gave us a tour of the factory and let us choose the exact batch that we want, and they have set that batch aside for us,even though they are all "Blackett",they all look totally different, the brick master,Andrew took a photo of us beside the bricks,it was great, and has definitely added to the experience. Tomorrow my husband has an appointment with Julian at "Dapple Designs",for our landscaping design. We're on our way to our block to meet with Michael from Gynan Landscapes to get a quote for our retaining walls, we'll probably get him to do our landscaping as well. Monday we settle on our house, luckily we're able to rent it straight back and we want to take another look at the display on the central coast(a final check of the colours),on Wednesday our son is in the regional spelling bee in the morning and then straight to beaumont tiles in the afternoon.Honestly I don't know if I'm coming or going ! All this and a full time job. Before I forget,we went to Camden Council and they gave us our future neighbours address and we went by and have introduced ourselves, one of them lives in Wetherill Park, literally a 5 minute walk from our current house and attended the same school as our children,it's a small world. Wow, so much different to Boral. My local boral was completely disinterested. Took them 4 months to get samples of their own bricks -_- Cant say i was impressed, but oh well. I would advise anyone building to go,as I said in my last post the colours vary greatly. There are 2 brick factories on that rd,the first is Austral, the 2nd is PGH and their fantastic there,it's like going on an excursion. On another note we had Dapple Designs do our landscaping plan and he did a brilliant job,it was the best $400, we've spent, there's no way we could have done what Julian(from Dapple Designs) did,he went into a lot of detail and gave us so good ideas, anyone needing to get their landscape plan ready for council,I would highly recommend Dapple Designs. We decided to put some extra concrete on the right side( for our garbage bins), and Coral were great as they didn't charge us a variation. We meet our landscaper on site and are waiting for a quote. Julie The biggest challenge will be if you take out a loan and then run out of money - you'll have an incomplete security and lenders do not like this so you can get stuck.… 2 20093 Hi, I am looking into doing a KDR in Melbourne and am contemplating using Kialla Homes. I am looking for feedback on them from others who have built with them. 0 14239 |
