Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Duke's Double - Melville WA 21Dec 11, 2013 3:10 pm As our alfresco is gabled with an open end the builder has suggested using a different ceiling than the standard aquacheck plasterboard as it may see a bit of weather. They have used it on their display home and looks like this: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Do you guys think it will look ok on a gabled ceiling? Cheers, Duke Re: Duke's Double - Melville WA 22Dec 11, 2013 3:17 pm I like the look of it there on the flat roof it kind of picks up the squares from the tiles- I'm not so sure it would transpose as well on a gabled ceiling. viewtopic.php?t=62083 Re: Duke's Double - Melville WA 23Jan 23, 2014 6:54 pm Well we had our first pre-start meeting with the interior designer yesterday We went through the addenda, external colours and kitchen colours. Have another meeting next week for bathroom tiles and colours, and then one more meeting for lighting I think. So far we have selected or are looking at: External Main render: Possibly Buff IT or Hog's bristle in 1/2 or full Contrast render: One of Mocha Magic / Natural Stone / Toffee Fingers The interior designer is organising A4 brushouts of each colour for us to compare Window frame: Jason Window's Storm Front which is a dark grey Paving: Arctic from Brikmakers Granite range Front door: Infinity 8G with clear glass Internal Main floors: polished grey concrete Kitchen cupboards: Natural white Kitchen bench: White Shimmer Caeserstone in 40mm with waterfall edges to island Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Island feature panel: to be decided Glass splashback: Cocoa galore Kitchen sink@ Seima Kubic double Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Cooktop: Smeg 900mm Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Oven: Smeg 900mm Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Toilet: Seima Limni Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Bathroom sinks Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Mixer taps (this is the kitchen, the basins look the same just smaller) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Bathroom accessories Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Showers Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Bath tap/spout Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ That's about the gist of it so far The interior designer helped a lot, and most of the above are from the standard range of the builder. We are getting prices on the front door, glazed doors to theatre, the glass splashback and a few other minor things. Overall we were happy that the process wasn't too full on and is broken down into a few meetings. We haven't been preparing much other than web research, just haven't had time to visit showrooms and display homes but fingers crossed it will come together ok Re: Duke's Double - Melville WA 24Jan 25, 2014 10:31 am Im so jealous of the ones that get an appt with an interior designer, I think if i ever build again I will have it included in the deal ! Re: Duke's Double - Melville WA 25Jan 29, 2014 4:25 pm Second and final stage of pre-start done, tiles/vanities and lighting. I've completely forgotten what everything was called already so this update is a bit useless The gist of it: Laundry: Medium coloured browny/grey floor tile with a bit of texture/pattern in 300 x 300 Gloss white wall tile for splashback and skirting, 400 x 200 Natural white laminex cupboard and overheads Pure Mineralstone laminex benchtop Guest Ensuite Same floor and wall tiles as laundry Natural white laminex vanity cupboards Light coloured marbled effect laminex benchtop, can't remember the colour! Sand coloured 600 x 300 textured tile, looks like someone ran their fingers through it when it was manufactured Main Bathroom Tiles as per guest ensuite Vanity all in a lightish / greyish timber laminex including benchtop Ensuite Rectified 300 x 300 floor tiles in a deeper brown/grey with speckles (obviously a blokes description ) White gloss wall tiles 400 x 200 Feature tile is a patterned tile that looks a bit like a mosaic in texture but is all one colour and isn't a mosaic Think lots of little squares raised on the surface and a bit uneven... I'll update the post with a bit more useful info once I get back home and can take photos of the samples. For lights we went pretty simple, LED downlights in main living/dining/kitchen and entrance, everywhere else just standard oysters for now and some stainless up/down lights externally. Alfresco we are having some upwards facing lights to light the gabled ceiling and we're having fans in all the bedrooms, living, dining & alfresco. Next stage is final contract and then construction starts Builder is still thinking slab down in March which would be great! Cheers, Duke Re: Duke's Double - Melville WA 26Feb 11, 2014 4:59 pm Just posting to follow your build after your lol worthy brick in the neighbours door comment Your plans look amazing!! Are you building in Melville around Café Blend I think its called.. My partner works at Mega Music so don't know if its around that area? We're building in Mandurah Love your Lab - as soon as we have grass and a gate we are going to get a goldy coloured on too Your splashback is the same of ours, so pretty! Did you take yours to the ceiling behind the rangehood? We did, will look so beautiful Way too many smilies in this post.. haha. Our home building & decorating blog - http://www.rocknsoul.com.au/blog Re: Duke's Double - Melville WA 27Feb 11, 2014 5:05 pm Thanks Our block is closer to Canning Hwy than Blend Café, just around the corner from Melville Reserve where the Melville Rec centre is on the corner of Canning Hwy & Stock Rd. Our lab has just turned 7 Seems like only yesterday she was still a puppy, but that's probably because she's really only just started to behave like a normal dog and not a nutcase We're changing our rangehood to a slide-out one to continue the overheads above it for a bit more of a continuous look. Re: Duke's Double - Melville WA 28Feb 11, 2014 5:22 pm Ah nice nice, I know where that is. Wow that must have been an expensive block, location location location! Cant wait to have a Lab puppy Good idea with the rangehood - we didn't think of that, lol. Although I never currently use ours anyway in our current place. Hope you have excellent neighbours and not brick stealers, hehe. He's a copper, so if he does nick a few bricks I'll have nobody to complain to! Re: Duke's Double - Melville WA 30Feb 20, 2014 12:25 pm Wow, everything seems to be happening so fast, how exciting! Can't wait for the build pics! Re: Duke's Double - Melville WA 31Feb 20, 2014 12:29 pm trixee Wow, everything seems to be happening so fast, how exciting! Can't wait for the build pics! Neither can we Builder is still talking slab down next month, but I'm a bit sceptical Re: Duke's Double - Melville WA 33Feb 21, 2014 1:56 pm Not yet, final contract signing with final drawings should be next week. Builder already has certification for the build and six star energy rating so it's just a case of sending in the finals to council and waiting the obligatory 10 days for the building permit then it should all kick off. Re: Duke's Double - Melville WA 34Mar 04, 2014 4:50 pm Contracts all signed On to the next stage of waiting Re: Duke's Double - Melville WA 36Mar 04, 2014 11:31 pm Always with the waiting... Yay for contracts though! Re: Duke's Double - Melville WA 37Mar 12, 2014 4:58 pm Apparently siteworks to start next week and retaining the week after I have to remove some of the boundary fence so they can build the garage boundary wall, so I'll be digging this weekend At least it won't be too hot. The worst thing is I have to go away for work next Wednesday for 3 weeks so will most likely miss all the action and probably the slab too Re: Duke's Double - Melville WA 38Mar 12, 2014 8:26 pm Aww hope you have someone lined up to take pics for you. All this waiting and you miss the "opening night" of the show so to speak Re: Duke's Double - Melville WA 39Mar 12, 2014 8:31 pm Shame about three work trip but yay for site works!
