When we had to cut back to meet the budget I was happy to take out almost everything except kitchen changes!! We made our house 1m longer to get the kitchen the way it is I don't know what we were charged for our shower, I think it was all wrapped up in the cost the change the layout of the ensuite and WIR Re: Addicted to Building! Building with Dale Alcock in Ashby 22Oct 02, 2013 11:26 pm Though having another look at your laundry could you flip it? By that I mean put the linen down the wall the washing machine is and have the machine and sink where the linen is? Then you get more storage for minimal cost? Also blocks washing machine noise from bedroom 2 if/when there is kids in there? Re: Addicted to Building! Building with Dale Alcock in Ashby 23Oct 03, 2013 12:13 am Oh my - I just found what I want for the centre of that kitchen space! (or dining space - not sure yet). Do you think it will be too much? I think it'd be an awesome focal point for centre of the kitchen... Building with Dale Alcock in Ashby 25Oct 03, 2013 12:58 am I think your spending in the right areas we put a double shower in our house 15 years ago and I can count on the fingers on one hand that we used it to its full potential (and we were young then) lol. I'm not sure we'd have the water pressure for it! It is nice having a shower where the screen doesn't try and attack you Re: Addicted to Building! Building with Dale Alcock in Ashby 27Oct 06, 2013 11:51 am Question for all: Has anybody seen in Perth anywhere (and DAH new-Jemima if your listening I think I saw this in one of the displays) that sells, installs and fits exposed sliding door systems kind of like these? Building with Dale Alcock in Ashby 29Oct 06, 2013 2:16 pm Those industrial look doors are great but I think they have their place. I'd be wary of overcapitalising if this isn't going to be a forever home. I can't imagine they will be cheap. You have to think of your potential market when you come to sell and I think a "statement" piece like this can cut down on your perspective buyers. In the burbs, especially, buyers are likely to be young families and although those doors have wow factor, I think some people will be put off by them/ find them impractical. Hmm.. yeah I think you're right.. Might get a door still - but something a bit more understated than a big steel one (glass maybe)... Have to keep reminding myself this isn't necessarily for just us and someone with kids probably wouldn't want a splintered large ex train door... ... especially in the back of wanneroo hahah! Building with Dale Alcock in Ashby 33Oct 11, 2013 10:13 am Jumping in on this thread. Love anything to do with subway tiles and vintage/mod country/industrial/cottage styles. Re: Addicted to Building! Building with Dale Alcock in Ashby 34Oct 12, 2013 2:57 pm I actually like both those lights but if i had to choose it would be the 2nd one. And that industrial sliding door is fabulous but looks very $$$. If it wasnt my forever home i would hold back. Not sure if the people looking at the house to buy would appreciate the monetary value of them! But they are gorgeous! Now im wondering where in my house can i put something like that? Might have to build a fancy garden shed out the back oneday with some!!! My build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64437 Re: Addicted to Building! Building with Dale Alcock in Ashby 35Oct 12, 2013 3:57 pm I love the style! I will probably put some touches in like I did last time with furniture (and probably that second light for the kitchen and dining ! ) but I will probably leave the slider off - i imagine it will be quite pricey for that. But we will see - maybe I'll get a bit excited haha, or find a carpenter friend to hang something for me (and then all i have to find is a piece to use as a door (maybe an old train door from somewhere). so many ideas. Drove out to the block today, few houses going up now which is cool most of the blocks are quite small so it'll be interesting to see what people put on them (they are pretty awkward shapes too - strange subdivision).. Oh and thanks for looking into it for me Team DAH - I'll have to go show home hunting again and take a photo when i find the place I saw it in (it may not have been a dales so that could have been it haha).
