Fingers cross it won't take that long. Re: Modified Geneva Fairmont build @ Seaford Meadows 22Mar 29, 2013 5:30 pm Hi all, HELP NEEDED Slightly stressing. In comparing my paint colour with my bathroom tiles, I'm not a fan. I think I chose more based on kitchen colours and now think the paint is too cream. We have wattyl Flokati which I like but think the bathroom wall tiles won't match it. Sooooo I think I have these options. A- repaint just the bathroom and ensuite walls to match better when we move in. any ideas how much that may cost? B- When the tiler is there pay them to get more tiles and go all the way up. This would still leave the linen cupboard and toilet etc painted though. Any one ever done this with a tradie on site before? I think looking at everyone's build has maybe not been the best idea after all. Now I am questioning my choice for flooring. We have got 450 x450 tiles (i think) but maybe we should've had floorboards ??? What are your experiences/preferences? So confused now. And even if I want to change anything I'm sure it's too late. We almost went with that, but chose winter sky. We wanted Oxford white, but were told it looks too blue in real life. In the final builders interview, they'll show you a4 painted samples of the paint. They are much different to the tiny little squares you have now. If you look on the fairmont website, the display homes have specifications. A few have the paint listed. Perhaps you could have a look? I liked the winter sky that was my other choice. Think it has less cream than flokati. Just flokati doesn't go with the thin grey lines in our bathroom tile. Sooo silly of me. I was focuses on kitchen colours. I like alabaster but thought it may come up too dark Sent from my GT-I9100 using Xparent Purple Tapatalk 2 Re: Modified Geneva Fairmont build @ Seaford Meadows 25Mar 29, 2013 6:13 pm Re: Modified Geneva Fairmont build @ Seaford Meadows 26Mar 29, 2013 6:14 pm i like the alabaster , also father in law is a builders rep for solver & he told me to watch out for when painting is that the gyprock is a lot darker than former years so the colour of the paint also becomes darker. Re: Modified Geneva Fairmont build @ Seaford Meadows 27Mar 29, 2013 6:18 pm I think the abalaster will make the tiles look more brown. Wow, my winter sky looks much different. I hope it'll go with our black white and grey house! Feel free to follow our build! viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59958 Re: Modified Geneva Fairmont build @ Seaford Meadows 28Mar 29, 2013 6:30 pm The flokati throws cream whereas the winter sky throws more yellow. I think the cream will look better with the colours that you have chosen. If when it is finished you don't like the flokati I think re painting it would be easy and you would be able to pick a colour that you like easier. I am considering Flokati, picking a white is so hard. You have my sympathies Re: Modified Geneva Fairmont build @ Seaford Meadows 29Mar 29, 2013 6:32 pm Bearing in mind it was taken in my dull kitchen on my mobile.... Winter sky will def go with your kitchen sammy. Looks very cream in photo. Alabaster actually had a more greeny grey brown tones to it. Think this may be the way to go actually. It was actually my first choice but we thought it may be too dark but.....we have a very white kitchen and very white bathrooms. Our floor tiles are white with slight grey line too. I wonder if they will let me change now that our build has started. It's only paint and we are just at slab. I went to Solver and got a sample pot of Winter Sky and painted a huge piece of cardboard, comes out quite white and throws grey to me. I'm going Monday to get a Flokati sample pot. Re: Modified Geneva Fairmont build @ Seaford Meadows 31Mar 29, 2013 7:38 pm Yeah I was thinking of doing the same thing Amy. Getting Flokati, Winter sky and Alabaster. I'm thinking the Alabaster might be the way to go though now as we have sooooo much white in our house. White cupboards, white tiles, white bench tops (admittedly a stone with grey flecks).... We are also getting those 3 step cornices so we thought they might look quite stunning against a slightly darker paint and then the white tiles. I love the Flokati colour though but think it looks too cream against tile. Pic doesn't do it justice. I wonder if they will let us change now. Even if they do, probably cost us $500 Re: Modified Geneva Fairmont build @ Seaford Meadows 32Mar 29, 2013 7:40 pm maddutchman i like the alabaster , also father in law is a builders rep for solver & he told me to watch out for when painting is that the gyprock is a lot darker than former years so the colour of the paint also becomes darker. Thanks for that info. I wonder if that means the Alabaster will come out too dark or if the Flokati will be too cream???? Re: Modified Geneva Fairmont build @ Seaford Meadows 33Mar 29, 2013 7:45 pm Yep get the samples and paint really big areas, I can't stand painting and to possibly hate an entire house painted that colour can't be an option! Especially with the high ceilings! Good luck! Re: Modified Geneva Fairmont build @ Seaford Meadows 34Mar 29, 2013 8:01 pm Yep, should've done it before selections! Thanks for everyone's thought so far. Anyone had any experiences in changing something after their build has started just because they want to/ didn't like something after all? Re: Modified Geneva Fairmont build @ Seaford Meadows 35Mar 29, 2013 8:05 pm At least your doing it now and not waiting till your seeing it all over your walls! I'm thinking surely they haven't ordered it yet and wouldn't be that big of a deal to change??? Depends what they are next to. Re: Modified Geneva Fairmont build @ Seaford Meadows 37Mar 29, 2013 8:22 pm Amy! That makes me so happy! Winter sky throws grey! Suited to its name then? Feel free to follow our build! viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59958 Re: Modified Geneva Fairmont build @ Seaford Meadows 38Mar 30, 2013 8:51 pm So I went and bought 3 sample pots today and painted them onto massive cardboard. Hmmmmmmm even more confused. The winter sky looked a little cream to me. The alabaster not as dark as I'd thought it would be and the Flokati quite grey. Would love to see a photo of your sample Amy. I'll load mine up in the morning when I can get daylight on it. The Flokati looked like a shade of the alabaster. I have a funny feeling that she stuck the wrong sticker on the Flokati and winter sky. So I started looking at every ones threads that have used these paint colours. It is so hard to tell in the pics. Sometimes Flokati looks grey, other times cream. Then someone said it had grey tones. Arrrggggghhhhhh just when I thought the samples would help me. Re: Modified Geneva Fairmont build @ Seaford Meadows 39Mar 30, 2013 8:52 pm And to top it off they don't really look like the card. Re: Modified Geneva Fairmont build @ Seaford Meadows 40Mar 31, 2013 3:09 pm Oh no, such a hard decision. Maybe have a look at it again tomorrow and see if that offers any clarity? Also am being driven crazy by paint colours. Thinking maybe wall and ceiling in one colour of off white and ceiling white on the Cornice. We have the three step one. food luck deciding! |
