Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Now 80 days overdue on our house 21Apr 15, 2008 6:10 pm We are in Victoria. Does anyone know the difference between lodging a complaint through VCAT and lodging a complaint through Consumer Affairs Victoria ?
Both seem to have the capability of handinling domestic building disputes. Thanks to anyone who knows. Re: Now 80 days overdue on our house 22Apr 15, 2008 9:17 pm When I worked at VCAT (7 years ago), claims could be made first through Consumer Affairs. The staff at Consumer Affairs might try to solve the problem nicely for you (send letters out to the other party). If their efforts failed, they would then refer you to VCAT.
To my knowledge, you could also start with VCAT if you didn't want help from Consumer Affairs. Give Consumer Affairs a call and see what they recommend. Thanks a lot for the info, I had a bit more of a look at it last night and gathered that may have been the case. Re: Now 80 days overdue on our house 25Apr 16, 2008 10:01 am Pleased to say we finally moved in on the 12th April. The builder still hasn't finished many items, but we had no choice but to move out of our old place.
We still don't have a handle on our front door, rail for hanging clothes in our master bed wir. Heaps of paint touch ups need doing. Front door is crooked. Bathroom tiling is incomplete... the list goes on. We haven't signed the practical completion but have paid the final installment to the builder. I will be holding them to that document. Building for the 1st time with M3tricon Site Start was 19th July 07. It's been 2 weeks to Handover for the past 8 weeks. Go figure. 8 29591 No, that's not normal, they've messed-up & they know they've messed-up & they're doing a really bad job of coping with it. How much do they owe you for every day they go… 1 30577 DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair I’ve heard the same about ABC. Apparently they’re quick, but still take the time to do proper prep before painting. 7 33876 |
