Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building With SPH - At Scheduling 21Feb 03, 2010 2:43 pm I think that getting an independent building inspector is probably a good thing. It can keep your builder *accountable* if you know what i mean? And more importantly, it would give *you* peace of mind that your home is being built correctly. Or if you have any friends in the trade, ask them to take a wander through with you at different stages, adn they can point out any obvious issues that they see I'm not getting an independent building inspector myself, as unfortunately i've got nothing left in the kitty for one!! LOL But I have had friends (who are builders) take a gander through my place and they've all been pleased with what they've seeen and i'm happy with that viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22766 - my build thread! Re: Building With SPH - Earthworks booked for 16th Feb 22Feb 03, 2010 3:01 pm Bec2010 Thanks , and thanks for Desquishing Shell , looks much nicer now lol, not sure why it came out like that Can I ask what everyones opinion is on whether to get an independent builder inspector? I kind of liked the sqished plan A sister in law just had practical completion on a 390 sqm home in the country. One of those colonial wood kit homes. They were reasonably happy ( a few things not quite sitting just right - ie cornices etc ). They chose to get a building inspector just to be sure and he found $14,500 dollars worth of faults and defects. I suggest using a building inspector at plate height , roofing complete and PCI, although I waived the plate height one on this occasion Timeline Aug 08-Land Mar 09-Demo/Titles Sept 10-Handover No1 Sept 11-Handover No2 April 12-Sold No2 Aug 14-Land/Demo Jan 15-Slabs viewtopic.php?f=31&t=25736 Re: Building With SPH - Earthworks soon to start 23Feb 08, 2010 10:56 am $14,500 dollars worth of faults and defects geez Just found out we know through a family member that he has a good friend who is a structual engineer so hope to get him to look at it at different stages.
