Oh dear, I think I have sky envy! Thanks shell! There is some pretty awesome sky all over WA! I've been watching "Dry spell gardening" on TV for ideas, There's a few things I really like, such as a pretend dry creek bed. I'd like to do a fire and water theme with a fire pit and some sort of water feature, (supplied by rain water of course!). Oohhh, what sort of dog? I actually saw a backyard/garden similar to what you're describing... (well, the fire pit part anyway!!) can't think where tho... There's heaps of ideas in the landscaping section here... and Fu Manchu is around here somewhere, and he's particularly clever when it comes to whats good for WA planting etc viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22766 - my build thread! Time waits for no man. Unless that man is Chuck Norris. Re: Tim's House in WA with HBC 23Oct 04, 2009 10:33 pm Shes a Kelpie X, (no idea what the cross is though). I've only had her for a few weeks, she was a rescued dog from the RSPCA. She's only 5 months old and was very timid when I first picked her up, but her personality is starting to come out now I've read a few of FU's posts, he certainly seems to be the guru on the nature front! I'd really like to go with a low impact/low maintainence landscape. I'm still searching for some sort of shade "system" as there are no established trees anywhere near my block. ________________________________________________________________ Building with HBC Aussie Alfresco Games Re: Tim's House in WA with HBC 24Oct 04, 2009 10:42 pm Very cute Kelpies are gorgeous. I've said that we can get a dog once our house is built.. who knows what sort. But i'm a big dog fan and our yard isn't really big dog friendly (my block is only 426sqm in size!!!). I'm leaning towards going to the rspca... but i'd be too worried i'd walk out of there with half the dogs! i'm too much of a softy LOL Do you work in an environmental area? Only reason I ask, is cause i have absolutely no idea what a "low impact" landscaping design would be!! viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22766 - my build thread! Time waits for no man. Unless that man is Chuck Norris. Re: Tim's House in WA with HBC 25Oct 04, 2009 10:46 pm Tim, welcome to homeone! I have a kelpie x too. She's almost 13, but my other dog is only 3 and he's a shelter dog. There's a fenced dog park within Whiteman Park, which is right near you. My friend built in Ellenbrook, but that was about 6 years ago. She paid 2k ALL UP (700sqm + house). Couldn't BELIEVE it when she told me! Her brother's now building in Ellenbrook somewhere. Fu is the master when it comes to landscaping and gardening. Not sure exactly what he does cause he doesn't talk about it, but he knows his stuff. I've done a few landscaping / gardening courses and these have really helped to think about what I'm going to do with my garden. Let me know if you want details. I'm also going to a Josh Byrne seminar in November and it'll be AWESOME according to what I've heard. Fu speaks highly of him. My tac-home-ter: Been in 8 months! Re: Tim's House in WA with HBC 26Oct 04, 2009 10:50 pm Hi and welcome. It is looking fabulous. Hope the rest of the build goes well Re: Tim's House in WA with HBC 27Oct 04, 2009 10:51 pm By low impact I just mean something that doesn't require heaps of water to keep it alive. I'm not in enviromental type of work, I just figure since I have a blank slate, landscape wise, I might as well do it right. My block is 600 sqm and the house is only 200 sqm all up so there is plenty of space. I figured I could always make the house bigger later, but not the land My dog's only 15kgs at the moment, and I don't think she'll get much bigger. I didn't want a really big dog as I do alot of touring for fun, and I'd like to take the dog with me as much as possible. If you go to the RSPCA just put some blinkers on so you can only see one dog at a time! ________________________________________________________________ Building with HBC Aussie Alfresco Games Re: Tim's House in WA with HBC 28Oct 04, 2009 10:55 pm Thanks for the pointers about the landscaping Annie. One thing I like about Ellenbrook is all the parks, there are heaps of places to take the dog. I think my house and land will be about twice what your friend paid Thanks for the comments Chedasha ________________________________________________________________ Building with HBC Aussie Alfresco Games Re: Tim's House in WA with HBC 29Oct 04, 2009 11:01 pm Tim_NZ By low impact I just mean something that doesn't require heaps of water to keep it alive. Doing your bit and all I'd still be looking at dogs... just one at a time if i wore blinkers!!! and i'd STILL want to take the majority home with me LOL *sigh* Tourings fun Your kelpie should love the freedom of it all! viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22766 - my build thread! Doing your bit and all Really I'm just a tight arse and don't want to spend heaps of money on water Naaawww... A man after my own heart!!! But seriously, who would?? I've already received one rather large water bill for the block since they've put the tap in!! Ridiculous... viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22766 - my build thread! Time waits for no man. Unless that man is Chuck Norris. Re: Tim's House in WA with HBC 32Oct 04, 2009 11:33 pm I'm expecting my water bill to be horrendous after I found the water tap at the back of the house turned on one weekend. I've since put a blanking cap on it so the bastards can't do it again ________________________________________________________________ Building with HBC Aussie Alfresco Games Re: Tim's House in WA with HBC 33Oct 04, 2009 11:35 pm Whats a blanking cap?? viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22766 - my build thread! Re: Tim's House in WA with HBC 34Oct 04, 2009 11:48 pm Just a plumbing fitting for the tap without a hole in it, so if the tap is turned on no water can come out. ________________________________________________________________ Building with HBC Aussie Alfresco Games Re: Tim's House in WA with HBC 35Oct 05, 2009 11:36 am Tim_NZ Just a plumbing fitting for the tap without a hole in it, so if the tap is turned on no water can come out. Clever!! But what if the builders need to use the tap?? viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22766 - my build thread! Time waits for no man. Unless that man is Chuck Norris. Re: Tim's House in WA with HBC 36Oct 05, 2009 11:59 am There is another one at the front of the house on the side of the garage. At least if that one is left on people can see it, hopefully then they will turn it off for me ________________________________________________________________ Building with HBC Aussie Alfresco Games Re: Tim's House in WA with HBC 37Oct 05, 2009 12:03 pm I've been pretty lucky on the vandalisim front, I've only had the tap left on and a few bricks thrown on the roof resulting in about 6 tiles being broken. I'd love to catch the little bastards, I always have my camera ready as I pull into the street incase I spot them ________________________________________________________________ Building with HBC Aussie Alfresco Games Re: Tim's House in WA with HBC 38Oct 05, 2009 12:06 pm Thats something that i'm actually dreading... vandalism. I'm going to try not to stress too much about it, as at least its the builder who has to replace everything... its just that its MY house they're damaging!!! Little sh!ts. Not really looking forward to the school holidays... although I guess i'm lucky in that i'm actually building in an already established neighbourhood! viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22766 - my build thread! Ellenbrook has a security firm that patrols the area, they are pretty useless, but at least they are there. ________________________________________________________________ Building with HBC Aussie Alfresco Games Hi, Would you please share some photos of your Orlando 20 HBC build? I would like to get some insight on the living and dining area. Thank you 0 1735 Good on you for having a go I am the opposite of DIY (so will pay a builder) - our vibe is industrial/simple so current thinking is 150mm concrete and then internally is… 3 3089 Yes well there solution is to blame everyone else while I a 65yr old woman with major medical problems have to just continue to boil water and wash myself in a bucket… 2 16283 |
