No news unfortunately

I'm not really expecting anything to happen until at least next week. I'll try to follow up our agent tomorrow to see if he has any news but I'm not getting my hopes up any more. I'll just go with the flow and try not to think about it!

Haha, still nothing! :::

However, my constant hassling of everybody has lead to an email being sent from the developer's solicitor, to the developer, to my agent and my solicitor then on to me saying that VCAT has to rule on some sort of extension and that it's just a formality but he's not expecting it to happen until mid Jan. THEN he can submit the land to be regestered!

So i retract my previous grrrrrr to the titles office and send it in the direction of VCAT instead!!

At least now we sort of know what is happening and we're not completely in the dark.

But hey Wemyss - your land has settled so I'll live vicariously through you until my time comes :lol:

OH NO!!! Poor YOU!!! How annoying! We where lucky I guess, in that we purchased our land 'second hand'. The vendors purchased the block from the developer and due to family circumstances, couldnt build on it...so we missed out on all the title relese stuff and all the delays that go along with buying from the developer! Im feelin for you!! I can only imagine how excited you are...then when things get held up, the excitment fizzles a bit huh

... thats why I decided to get stuck into a project for the house (my roman blinds), as it took my focus away from the land settlement!! Maybe you need a project??

I think you're right about a house hobby! I guess I'll make my quest for finding the perfect dining chairs my official hobby!

I've been looking at these from freedom, but I really really really want a lounge in the same material as the dining chairs and bar stools.

These are the chairs I've found. I'm after something with a chrome / metal frame and a fabric seat. Then want a lounge with a chaise with chrome feet and the same linen for the seat itself.

I went to Freedom the other week and found the chairs, and loved them ::kiss::

. Unfortunately I just can't justify $200 per dining chair and $250 for stools at the moment, so instead bought these chairs off ebay (which are currently living at bobbin_84's place ::lol::

)

When we buy the couch we'll order enough extra fabric to be able to get the chairs re-upholstered and still have enough left over to get some bar stools covered (when we eventually buy some!)

The layout is really similar to our kitchen/dining/family area, except the lounge isn't going to be behind our dining area. We'll just have the wall and a door to the garage there.

I feel that it is time for a rant. We STILL haven't had anything happen with the land ::angry::

. It's still in VCAT's hands, then it still has to go through the titles office ::sad::

. If we can't start building by March 1 then we need to apply for an extension for the first home owner's grant, which will be a pain in itself.

We were supposed to know SOMETHING by mid January, well it's the 22nd and there's still no news. I just hate that when we made the offer on the land that it was going to title in 3 weeks. If they told us it could take this long it would have saved us a lot of heartache because we wouldn't have signed the contracts. Instead now we're stuck in this situation, living in our cr@ppy rental for even longer with a cr@p airconditioner over a hot summer.

The block is looking like sh!te because all the trees and growth are starting to come back through. We're going to have to spend extra to get it cleared again. In the meantime interest rates have gone up so we'll be making higher repayments than we would have if the land had settled when it was due to - which was OCTOBER! They have our 10% deposit that we could have been earning interest on.

*Phew* You would think I'd feel better after that, but I dont. I feel worse. I hate thinking about the whole situation because it makes me so mad ::frown::

There's only so long that thinking positive can help and I think the 6 month mark must be my limit! Cos I'm @*&$!)% ANGRY ::angry::

Thanks pinkdiamond. We're really happy with how the plan turned out - it's just the two of us for now so we'll have plenty of room to spread out! I'm just off to check out your thread

Me too, Macy. I suppose it doesn't seem like such a big deal to the developers but to us it is huge! This is the biggest thing we have ever done in our lives and I just feel * that we've got off to such a bad start ::sad::

I'm sure once everything gets sorted out with the title, it will all be full steam ahead. Still, doesn't make the waiting any easier...
