(not sure if this applies to 'smart wired' homes though). you still put the order through Hellstra or whoever you choose. Smart wired homes refers to the internal cabling setup of the house, you will still need the NBN hooked up to your house. Re: Yanchep RedInk build... Keys 18th? or 23rd? 1982Dec 13, 2015 11:12 am Decka kron We had antenna in the build as standard, I didn't even realize until I saw it installed on the roof haha so I suppose we lucked out there. I went with Optus - entertainer bundle, unlimited downloads, fetch TV with 30 or so channels and opted for the quickest speed boost which gives me the fastest speeds we can get currently (have done several speed tests and I get very close to 100mb/40mb, about 89/35 for those who understand). All up costs me $125 and they don't need to come out to install anything, just the NBN guys do. Optus sent out a modem which has all the instructions and you just plug it in, and off you go. I could have NBN on slower speeds with the same bundle for $30 less, but I'm a speed freak so love having the fastest speeds possible, especially since in my rental I was on as slow as you can get and it frustrated the bonkers out of me! Lol, I know what you mean, I went from fibre 100 mbps to ADSL1, I know the internet is bad when the wife agrees with me to make sure where ever we bought the block of land to make sure it has fast internet Haha mine was like "I dont care about internet" after my 1 condition was it had to be an NBN area. Needless to say she's much happier now that we have quick net again Re: Yanchep RedInk build... Keys 18th? or 23rd? 1983Dec 13, 2015 11:46 am Geez Malsannie..talk about a rollercoaster ride from hell!! Despite that your home does look absolutely lovely, and i am so glad you are excited about your xmas trip. Looking forward to lots more pics! If you are on the brink of insanity then Telstra can certainly assist with pushing you over the edge!! We have been waiting 3 months to have our NBN box relocated coz they neglected to utilize the existing completely ready to go wiring that the builder installed!!! Noone accepts responsibility and you go round and round in circles with the occasional bashing of the head on a brick wall coz you cant believe the stupidity!!!!! Sounds remarkably like the building experience. Hahaha!! Gotta laugh Mals or would go bonkers i am sure!!! You are nearly there and you have been amazing. I honestly don't know how you have managed so well at such a distance. Sending hugs! Re: Yanchep RedInk build... Keys 18th? or 23rd? 1984Dec 13, 2015 12:47 pm Hey Malsannie, Sorry about the delay in replying.... thank you so so so very much for your invaluable advice... i hope things are going your way now I will keep my fingers crossed for you.... No, I havent really started a thread on my build yet. . Not really sure how to download the photos.... but will start one as soon as I have something more than just sand on my block....haha... my build has moved through to construction now so I'm just anxiously waiting to see at least a Redink sign or even a tap on the block. ..... haha:) Re: Yanchep RedInk build... Keys 23rd? 1985Dec 14, 2015 3:01 am pidge I had a bit of a tear in the eye when we got a tap - such an exciting thing to have the build start! I think it was 15 days between moving to construction email and slab for us. I started our thread loooooong before all this no reason you can't - looking forward to see your selections and things Rache my next worry is that the provisioning to/in the house itself is wrong. At one stage our CLO noticed that the PSU and ONT placement was wrong and she had it fixed on the plan, but it seems some of them were either working on old plans or just did what they thought needed to happen so not sure it will have been done properly. grrrr head against wall indeed! Thanks for the advice guys, can't say I understand it any better though i'm probably too blonde for all of this! I may just abdicate responsibility completely. Re: Yanchep RedInk build... Keys 23rd? 1986Dec 14, 2015 3:48 am Oh and I did a bit of retail therapy too - bought a cctv system http://infronttech.com.au/656-swann-nvk ... &results=1 - big bargain $997.50 down from $1688.00 for the w/e. Been eyeing it for a while so very pleased to have seen it in time! Re: Yanchep RedInk build... Keys 23rd 11:00am 1987Dec 14, 2015 7:21 pm Hi Mal sorry I've been absent for a while but always thinking about you. I imagine you're getting ready for the big trip. Really sorry to hear it hasn't been a smooth road to the finish line. Ours was pretty anticlimactic. But it will all soon be a distant memory. We got our internet through TPG and they coordinated the NBN connection part. We don't have Foxtel so needed to have an antenna installed to get free to air tv. Of course 2 of our tv points didn't work cuz redink used cheapie ones but that's another story utilities need to be activated so make sure you call gas/electric and water Corp to switch from construction acct to residential. Good luck with the home stretch. Safe travels and enjoy every second with your family xx Re: Yanchep RedInk build... Keys 23rd 11:00am 1988Dec 15, 2015 7:41 am Thanks, ardie, I think of you so often nowadays. We have almost the same house and you've helped me so much when I didn't have a clue re Aus things! I hope you're doing well x Re: Yanchep RedInk build... Keys 23rd 11:00am 1989Dec 15, 2015 2:34 pm By the looks of your subject line, it's actually all booked in? Definite? Re: Yanchep RedInk build... Keys 23rd 11:00am 1990Dec 18, 2015 6:45 am nikkis2000 By the looks of your subject line, it's actually all booked in? Definite? So they say So today we've had some excitement. Well, some of it can be classed as such. There was a mix up about the colours and 'who said what' - so for now it'll stay as is. That was just the easiest option at 3am in the morning in a call when you're having the work week from hell. So we'll see how it looks - if not offensive then we'll keep it otherwise RedInk has agreed to change it if we wish once we've see it in 'person'. The most exciting part though is that we've had Sustainable Outdoors http://sustainableoutdoors.com.au/ do our soil/sand conditioning. I found their link from fu manchu on here - and they've done a wonderful job. Not cheap by any stretch of the imagination (our skirting boards and the odd appliance or 2 will have to wait) - but we hope in the long run it'll save money and stress trying to get a garden to stay alive. They've worked their socks off - and we have some amazing pics of the day wish we could have witnessed the big red truck and bobcat and 3 guys working all day to prepare our little sandpit I'm sure it isn't premature to recommend them - they obviously take pride in their work. Keys 23rd 11:00am 1992Dec 18, 2015 12:52 pm Keys are so soon Mal!! You've been such a trooper through your build, hang in there it'll all be over soon Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70984 Re: Yanchep RedInk build... Keys 23rd 11:00am 1993Dec 18, 2015 2:35 pm That sand conditioning is an excellent idea! Will be well worth it in the long run, your gardens will be beautiful Re: Yanchep RedInk build... Keys 23rd 11:00am 1995Dec 20, 2015 8:56 pm We can't afford the landscaping bit too But at least we'll have a base to build on now. Hopefully tomorrow morning we'll find out how far they are with the list of outstanding issues so we can decide whether we'll accept keys on the 23rd or not. Fingers crossed. I hope things are going well with everyone's builds - I guess things have slowed down for everyone by now. We still haven't packed anything! And we leave on the 24th can't believe it is almost Christmas! xx Re: Yanchep RedInk build... Any electrician recommendations 1996Dec 21, 2015 7:10 pm Hi guys, on my way to work just a quick question - can anyone recommend an electrician? Ourmansion recommended someone but they've not replied to my email yet, and I'd like to get more than 1 quote anyway! We're not here so much as we're busy packing and organising etc!!!! Hope you're all well x Re: Yanchep RedInk build... Any electrician recommendations 1997Dec 21, 2015 7:28 pm Sent you a forum message Re: Yanchep RedInk build... Any electrician recommendations 1998Dec 21, 2015 8:14 pm Cant help with electrican mal but just wanted to say safe travels! Hope you have a lovely Christmas too. Fingers crossed everything goes well and you get your keys. Re: Yanchep RedInk build... Any electrician recommendations 2000Dec 22, 2015 5:57 am Thanks, Decka - email sent! ColleyCrew and pidge - thanks so much We're looking forward to see everyone (although I definitely cannot profess to be looking forward to the flights themselves nor the jetlag!) We're still hoping keys will happen. The house has now been painted inside but there are still items outstanding from the PCI lists. The fireplace opening is too small - so they'll have to fix that otherwise we can't have the fireplace installed - so we've been holding off ordering it. Unfortunately the person who we've been communicating with has gone on holiday so not sure about the continuity. There seems to be confusion re what has and hasn't been done and we're not there to see for ourselves which makes it really difficult. We've had security screens installed today by KNA Security http://www.knasecurityperth.com.au/ - what a lovely company to work with they've been great, prompt, professional and helpful. They've also been honest enough to say where they thought we'd not need a more expensive product or anything at all which is great. Thanks, guys! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We've had our bins delivered today - The blinds are due tomorrow - hoping they'll look ok. We've ordered a cctv kit which have been delivered, and my mum has bought 3 pendants I've seen online and thought looked nice. I reckoned if they don't look good if we hold it over the kitchen bench or if they clash we can always use them in a bedroom or 2! We've had our landscaping booked in for the 18th of Jan - very fortunate to have them give us a date. We'll stay a week longer to see it all and to do a bit of gardening after. Unfortunately we've been badly let down by the fencing company who put up fence posts and then went on holiday until the 10th of Jan - they were due to finish it on the 18th .... but just didn't. They also left a lot of rubble on site which is a shame. It does make you wonder why you bother following the rules to qualify for these things! We'd probably have been better off doing what we liked with the house and doing our own bit of fencing at the back. It is completely open at the back and to the side at the back - where there are 2 much higher lots - so sand is continually blowing onto our newly conditioned soil. We paid a shedload of money to get rid of the excess sand that has blown onto our patch already and certainly don't fancy paying for this again Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We may just decide to bite the bullet and do it ourselves. We're considering telling them to sod off and we'll get a return gate done elsewhere - especially since they've managed to 'lose' the quote they gave us 8 weeks ago Anyway - last day before holiday at work tomorrow - whoop! Hey everyone Not for me or anyone I know, just generally interested. For a single allotment house, are you allowed to take the fence on both sides of your house and… 0 21599 4 11811 2 8369 |
