Hope everything works out in your favour for once you have had quite the building experience! Hi Belz we arrive on Christmas day - unfortunately not on a sleigh and not a reindeer in sight - but maybe Santa will decide we deserve a nice surprise Andreabw Oh Mal - i feel so guilty after reading all of the above. I moved in last fir day and i absolutely love my house. they have done a great job after all said and done. Was definitely worth the wait, and hopefully you will feel the same way after you move in. Fingers crossed. xxx Hi Andrea please don't feel guilty! The one thing I learned very early from these forums is that it is never good to compare your own build against any others - they're all different, they all have different people working on them etc. I'm so happy to hear you're happy in your lovely home - I love your grey paint and your gutsy kitchen Looking forward to the promised tile pics! x Re: Yanchep RedInk build - Thanks, Chris! 1904Dec 06, 2015 10:11 am Must be nice to finally hear some positive news.... my fingers are crossed very tightly for you that everything will work out from now on. Not too much longer to see your family too! That must be very exciting Re: Yanchep RedInk build - Thanks, Chris! 1905Dec 06, 2015 10:44 am So sorry to hear about all those issues Mal. I am glad you found someone willing to help escalate it for you. I hope everything goes well from now onwards. We have had a good experience and I feel so bad when others are going through this! It should be the most exciting thing but it's very disappointing when the builder doesn't seem to care or make things better even when you have pointed out all the issues. Fingers crossed all will be good when you come over to see the house in a few weeks time. But most importantly, you get to spend time with your family as you said . Hugs xx Our building journey viewtopic.php?f=31&t=77582 Re: Yanchep RedInk build - Thanks, Chris! 1906Dec 06, 2015 7:39 pm Thanks, jelbell and Ourmansion! We hope to one day have forgotten about all these 'issues' and to at least like the house again. As we won't live there and only see it for a 3 weeks every 2 years at most we'll not have the 'time' to get used to it and enjoy living in it. At least it'll have our family in it so that will make it 'home' I guess. Re: Yanchep RedInk build... Oh dear 1907Dec 06, 2015 10:36 pm (apologies in advance for the length of this post)
My mum and niece had a drive by to see the new paving. The wrong colour driveway has been pulled up and cleared away, the new darker pavers delivered but not yet installed. This was due to have been done by the end of the weekend, but there was no-one there. We're really glad we decided not to accept the wrong colour - the darker will look so much better and will be much more forgiving for leaking oil/tyre marks. The wrong ones: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The right ones: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ They couldn't get in but they could see that the floor tiles were completed, although they couldn't see whether there was a colour difference. The grout lines are very wide though. For some reason they'd tiled the bottom of the side fireplace recesses. Maybe the tiler also thought something needed to be done to the finishing Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The gap at the top of the alfresco pier has been filled in, and the beading around the eaves/ceiling painted. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The outside shower has been tiled with the tile we chose from photos in March/April, it looks nice and outside-ish. The shower head isn't the one they said we'd get. We didn't like the one they chose anyway, and the one installed is slightly more flexible with the adjustable arm so we'll live with that and replace it with something nice later. Not convinced the fixtures they offered (when we had to do last min variation as they decided they needed to supply taps and tiles rather than provisioning only as agreed/signed for at prestart) are good for outside near the ocean anyway so will have to be replaced in due course. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Through the window it doesn't look like the aircon controller is installed yet, and there are still loads of red stickers all over the walls and ceiling so the plaster finishings hasn't been done yet. Could also see in the background that the tiles in the scullery are on the wall, so not sure whether they've been removed and replaced. The ones in the laundry and scullery above the benches weren't fixed properly according to the inspection report and needed to be re-done. Some of you may remember that we changed our front elevation feature colour back in May. viewtopic.php?p=1347418#p1347418. We really wanted Mantra which is a relatively bright blue, but it turned out our neighbours directly across and their neighbours had exactly the same idea - a bright blue feature wall. So we chose a new colour to not look like copycats. It took quite a bit of doing, as the development has very strict colour codes so had to get approval at the risk of losing our front garden/fencing etc. Found a lovely Dulux Ito colour we loved, and had it changed via a paid variation. Last week when we spoke to the area manager, he said we were right, the front elevation feature colour still needed to be added. And then he mentioned Mantra..... So had to let him know that we'd changed it via a paid variation. I asked for the CLO to send the latest addendas and plans to the site & area managers again and trades. Phew, managed to avert another problem. The good news is - it IS a beautiful colour and we absolutely LOVE it! (that is if it is the correct one, we hope so?) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The bad news is - they've painted the wrong walls in the feature colour. Our very own archetto wrong render colour moment. Oh dear 1908Dec 06, 2015 10:55 pm Oh lord mal they really are doing a balls up! But on a positive note your house is looking amazing Re: Yanchep RedInk build... Oh dear 1909Dec 06, 2015 10:57 pm Oh my mal . Really redink lol . I'm sure they will fix the render but why oh why don't they read paperwork . I love love the look of your house mal . My grout is a bit bigger in my living areas . A lot of tilers don't really like doing the really thin grout . But in saying that a lot of people have problems with too thin grout as if its not applied probley it can full out over time . When I had my grout issue I went to a lot of display homes and there large tiles where also wish he thicker grout . Re: Yanchep RedInk build... Oh dear 1910Dec 06, 2015 11:34 pm Oh mals are you at the stage of just laughing yet? Regardless of the stuff ups house is looking great! That driveway will look so much better dark too! Re: Yanchep RedInk build... Oh dear 1911Dec 06, 2015 11:45 pm Oh gee wizz Mals... Certainly brings back memories Hang in there! Dare i say it but i almost like the wrong brick selected for feature render?? _______________________ KEYYYSSS!! ~ 14/10/15 viewtopic.php?t=72518 Our Build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=72518 Re: Yanchep RedInk build... Oh dear 1912Dec 07, 2015 1:30 am Oh malsannie what a run around! It's a joke isn't it we have had sooo many problems over it! I actually like the colours as they are I drove past yours today Re: Yanchep RedInk build... Oh dear 1913Dec 07, 2015 6:58 am Thanks guys .. yep it doesn't look too bad does it? Just unfortunately not what we had in mind. I usually will go for practical over symmetry - but in this instance the different colours around the garage door will probably do my head in. I wonder what it would look like all in the darker colour? But that would probably clash with the new darker pavers So.... no... they'll have to fix it. I'm just wondering though, isn't the colour meant to be part of the render for acrylic render?? How does this go then when they need to change it? Re: Yanchep RedInk build... Oh dear 1914Dec 07, 2015 7:15 am belzey Oh mals are you at the stage of just laughing yet? Regardless of the stuff ups house is looking great! That driveway will look so much better dark too! Yep lovely Belz, we did actually laugh this morning when we saw the pictures You can't help not to! But unfortunately it is turning into quite a costly comedy of errors for us. We've bought plane tickets to help get the house and garden into a liveable space. We've booked painters, security doors, garden, blinds, soil enrichment etc. Which we'll all have to cancel until further notice - it is the Christmas break soon. We're having to engage an inspector for another session - more $$$. We'll probably not be back for another 24 months after this - we usually visit my OH's family one year, and mine the next. We both work full time and only have limited holiday entitlements (and funds, obvs). So instead of making their lives easier, we'll leave them with a sandpit and having to wrestle with the builder's maintenance dept. Sorry if I sound bitter it honestly isn't aimed at you - all you lovely lot is saving me from insanity Re: Yanchep RedInk build... Oh dear 1915Dec 07, 2015 9:46 am Oh Mal - I can't belive they painted the wrong bits of your elevation. Having said that the colour is divine and will look amazing when they fix it and paint the new bits. I'm not sure I said this before but your kitchen with the lovely chunky waterfall edges - Swoon!!!! <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href="https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=62083">viewtopic.php?t=62083</a><!-- l --> Re: Yanchep RedInk build... Oh dear 1916Dec 07, 2015 9:49 am You are handling everything so well Mal Regardless of everything that has not gone to plan your home is looking stunning. The 2 render colours work so well together, and your kitchen is just gorgeous!! I am sure I have said this before but that island is beautiful I agree that the pavers will look better darker with more contrast and as you said will be much more practical! I love the idea of that outdoor shower- those tiles are soooo nice!! They do look very outside-ish! Re: Yanchep RedInk build... Oh dear 1917Dec 07, 2015 10:34 am Oh dear not you too! But the colour does look lovely! In the end our render mistake worked out better than we had picked for us haha but I'm sure they'll fix it in no time for you! I loveeee your island bench!
