Re: My Aveling Build 185Nov 01, 2013 5:08 pm Well finally got out to have a look at the block today and it seems that all the brickwork has been completed. Is it normal to have 46 slab ends (over 2200 bricks) left over or is the Aveling estimator on drugs? It's looking bloody good. Back to neck-and-neck. Our 2nd storey floor trusses may go up next week. Possibly. Re: My Aveling Build 189Nov 02, 2013 10:39 pm Yeah a free shed would be nice. I said something to the supervisor today, he said he was picking up the bricks for another build they were short on, I told him how happy I am to be buying bricks for another build. But it is not his fault the Aveling estimator was on drugs Hope your build goes well Builder - Aveling Homes Type - Luxury collection 4x3 Design - Chicago My build viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64958&p=1024362#p1024362 Re: My Aveling Build 190Nov 03, 2013 3:14 pm oncewerefurriers Good news there mate, I scrurried up the road and had a look at your place the other day, it's all coming together nicely, at least we both have huge entrances. We had a couple of wobbles with the bricklaying but fortunately they sorted everything out. Yours look huge with the walls up from above. Might have to do a walk-through, if you don't mind? Feel free to have a nose-around in our place. Re: My Aveling Build 192Nov 04, 2013 11:18 am Feel free to run through, my walls are much higher than I thought they would be. It would be great to get any feedback from you, especially if there is something wrong as I may have missed it. It is definitely one of my favourite designs out of all of the ones I've seen! As far as the Aveling paperwork delay goes, I hope I don't come across as rude as that's not my intention however I'd imagine with a design this amazing and different from the original plan as well as all of the upgrades you've made, it'd take quite a while longer to draw up and price when compared to an average house and while there really isn't any excuse for giving you a timeframe and not meeting it without so much as an email or phone call to explain why, patience is a virtue! I hope you have smooth sailing from here on out! I am very excited to see the final product and will be watching this topic very closely! I understand your point and don't take any offense. I did allow time for this as I knew it would be a little difficult, my biggest whine was the fact that I drew it for them and they continually stuffed it up. I know there is more to the design than just the floor plan but it is very annoying to have a design with 5 things wrong returned to me with them all corrected but find other mistakes from 2 versions ago back on the plan. This entire process took nearly 8 months. BUT..... All is going well right now, hopefully I will have the wood delivered to the block on Friday for the chippies to start on Monday. Wood or Tile flooring, just when I thought I had got the right decision BAM!! polished concrete jumps into my head lol Hope your build goes well Builder - Aveling Homes Type - Luxury collection 4x3 Design - Chicago My build viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64958&p=1024362#p1024362 Re: My Aveling Build 196Nov 07, 2013 11:28 am Oooooh, polished concrete, yum! Though I must admit, if you find the right tile you could be in for a treat too.... Decisions, decisions. For our Aveling build we had a large built-in TV cabinet recessed into a wall, and my hubby (an engineer) drew it up properly on CAD for the Aveling team. Even with his precision drawing, it was a long 3 month process to get the (simple) cabinet correct as mistakes kept being made, remade, fixed and then made again....aaaarrgh! It was so frustrating - so feeling you on that point! This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 20242 For reference, this is the Austlii reference.
