I just did that way but found by using my own tape it's not that accurate. I will get my inspector to do the frame stage inspection but not slab, so I have to check slab by myself. Does anyone know if the independent inspector can measure the size of the slab for us? Or have to get other professional person to do it? What did you check after your slab poured? How far out was it? If i recall correctly the tolerances for a slab shall be +- 1/100 of the length. Mine got pegged out today. i measured it and it was spot on so cant complain there Re: The CARLISLE HOMES & SPECTRA General Information Thread 1643Sep 11, 2010 2:31 pm Did anyone else catch this today: and this is a pic of the owner John: Is anyone else seeing a bit of 'Richo' here or is it just me? Anyway the story was about the new Como design... Has anyone seen it? What did you think? Re: The CARLISLE HOMES & SPECTRA General Information Thread 1644Sep 11, 2010 4:38 pm Hi Matt, I'm a little biased regarding the Como! And I love it! I've seen both the Keysborough and Point Cook display of the Como 25. I like the alfresco/courtyard design at Point Cook slightly better, even if it's not really practical for family living. I just love the amount of light and the feeling of incorporating both inside and outside all year round in the house design. We also took photos from the display home as we might start our blog spot once I find the time to do it . I've recently received my Carli$le Contract for review and had several questions - This is the first time I've built, so maybe I'm being over cautious... but it is my money and my dream! Anyway, the things that concerned my are numerous, but here are a few: 2.3.2 - $120 a day for a generator if there is no power available (The clause above it says Carli$le are responsible for the power) - This could turn into $1000's 2.4.2 - builder can move the drains without notifying the owner and then the owner has to be responsible for it if it gets damaged. 4.1. - Any landscaping around the external perimeter WILL disturb the Termite barrier - I've asked if I can get someone it to do a longer performing termite treatment - No! 7. - Scratches in windows are only defects if they not within 30mm of the edge of the glass and must be in the line of site 1.7m above floor level.. There is no budging Carli$le on any of these items (or the others), so my question is - Am I expecting too much? Should I not worry about these things and just sign the contract and cross my fingers?? And the slab is completed. I could not believe my eyes. . I am super glad that the house has started and now I am going to wait for them to build the frame. How much time does it usually take them to complete the frame? The next step for me is to start a blog Building: Montrose 32 Builder: Carlisle Homes Slab Completed:10.09.2010 Re: The CARLISLE HOMES & SPECTRA General Information Thread 1649Sep 14, 2010 4:31 pm Regarding item no7 Basically, they have just included something to disclose that when it comes to Australian Standards for glass, it is not a given that there will be no scratches at all. The glass can be manufactured to Australian Standards and have very small scratches, (most people don't notice unless they examine it very closely) so if you believe the glass they delivered is defective, you can read the standards themselves and if you are convinced the quality will not pass, you can demand they replace the defective glass panel free of charge. I swear I held my breath the whole time they were going line by line through the upgrades (we put our entire wishlist in knowing we could delete things that were too exey). And when we got to the "bottom line" which as expected smashed our budget, our 2 presenters were so considerate and left us to decide (by scissors, rock, paper) what would stay and what would go. It was so handy having spectra right next door coz we had to change a couple of things, but we're now on (amended) budget and really looking forward to the build starting. After going though this process with another builder who will remain PD nameless, this was so much more positive. You rock Carlisle! Can't wait to see your blog flipflop and watch your build take shape as we'll probably be starting around the same time!! Building Carlisle Homes "Monaco" @ The Avenue at Casey What's happening?... Now we did not go crazy but still we could not have been happier. most upgrade prices did seem to be reasonable Re: The CARLISLE HOMES & SPECTRA General Information Thread 1653Sep 14, 2010 10:16 pm sarahq Haha your post made me laugh Reinsey!! Hi Sarah, How's life in your beautiful Monaco?? (would looooooove some pics!!) Ha ha - our stacked stone front wall made it past the "rock off" (I would have been happy with a feature brick), but as a trade off I got to keep the ducted vacuum. So sad my soft close drawers had to go, and the alfresco render, but the better half lost his solar electricity pre-wire. Best news of all - the Sonos system was allowed to stay!!!! I received a call from Carlisle saying the pegs are not there and they are going to re-survey the land and they will raise a variation of $830 (Apparently as per the contract). What should I do? Thanks. Also, have you heard any incidents where Carlisle asked the land owner to mow the land before they start building? or shouldn't this be part of the fixed site cost? Hi Sarahq, Just wondering how you went with the expansion joint issue in your laminate flooring. Did you have to keep it or did they end up replacing it with something else? Have had lots of lovely compliments from friends and family that have visited we need more furniture though! Some time I will get around to adding pics. Need to take some! Sanmark - we ended up with an expansion joint still they changed it to a smaller one that was more rounded and the same colour as the floor. To be honest, we don't even notice it now! It's not been an issue at all since we moved in. Building Monaco32 with Carlisle Homes in Alamanda Estate 20/08/2010 - HANDOVER 24/8!! We were given a site start in mid August and it’s being a painful wait since then. Some of the adjacent lots had their slabs poured during this time, obviously by other builders, so I don’t believe it really is due to weather. If it is due to the backlog, I cannot understand why they cannot at least give us an expected start date. Has anyone experienced same sort of delays with Carlisle ?
