Its the best feeling! and then you get to walk around and see how the light comes through the windows caz_770 It is a very lovely house! Beautiful roof and I love, love, love the verandahssssssssssss!!! Yes we can only hope we got it right, I love verandahs but we don't want a gloomy dark house, my bedroom will be fine because you can see from one window through to the sliding door, but time will tell with the rest, from memory the best place in the winter mornings will be the front verandah and the afternoons will be the back and alfresco Re: Re: Building with Gemmill Homes~ my colorbond moment :-) 163Jun 06, 2012 4:11 pm I'm so excited I'm going home today, I can't wait to see my house and husband, family dogs cat and all the rest, but I really can't wait to see my house Re: Building with Gemmill Homes~ my colorbond moment :-) 164Jun 06, 2012 5:15 pm As your name implies, you should be re verandahs,l have them on three sides(still been built) at present (winter when sun does make an appearance) we get lots of sun/light,when l designed house it was worked out how high sun was in sky winter/summer,no sun should enter windows in summer.my verandahs are 1.6 wide Re: Re: Building with Gemmill Homes~ lockup time 165Jun 29, 2012 10:12 am I have just received an email telling me we will be at lockup tomorrow It's been a very boring wet cold time but I am really looking forward to seeing the next stages unfold, I have six weeks holiday coming up so I will get to see a lot of it happening. My SS has promised photos next week and I might be able to talk my son into taking some. Re: Building with Gemmill Homes~ my colorbond moment :-) 166Jun 29, 2012 11:26 am I am excited to see the photos!!! pattycake4 As your name implies, you should be re verandahs,l have them on three sides(still been built) at present (winter when sun does make an appearance) we get lots of sun/light,when l designed house it was worked out how high sun was in sky winter/summer,no sun should enter windows in summer.my verandahs are 1.6 wide Btw Pattycake, our verandahs are 1.5, my darling wanted 2m but design wouldn't allow it as there wouldn't have been enough sunlight coming in during winter for solar passive gain. We are going to add verandahs on 2 other sides once we're in, so I'm interested in the angle and height of your skillion roof (I presume it's a skillion?) Re: Re: Building with Gemmill Homes~ lockup time 167Jun 29, 2012 12:37 pm Congrats on lockup! It's so exciting to reach that milestone! (but also sad when you can't get inside anymore!)... Re: Building with Gemmill Homes~ lockup time 169Jul 05, 2012 11:21 am I found out last night that my cabinets are just starting to go in, I was very surprised and happy a lot of the photos are dark and poor quality but I will share a few of the better ones and next week I will be able to take some better photo's. My beautiful front door will be painted cream Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ My appliance cupboard Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Building with Gemmill Homes~ lockup time 170Jul 05, 2012 12:08 pm They only just started installing these yesterday, so I can't wait to see it finished, the bench tops will be black granite with copper and touch of green colors through it. LOVE the leadlighted glass. I LOVE the sound of your granite colour, especially with copper and green bits!! My fave. : If that laminex door colour has both green and brown in it, it might make all the difference with your feature tile if they pick up the green...LOVE the leaf motif too. All in all you should be one happy chappy!!!! Re: Re: Building with Gemmill Homes~ lockup time 173Jul 05, 2012 4:28 pm excited, it all looks AMAZING. How exciting to get inside and take piccies of the new things! Don't worry too much about the colours; like TSC said above, the colours will compliment each other when it's all in and done. Don't forget that the different times of day/lighting/camera can really make a difference. During the day, when I see our house, the roof is a beautiful light brown - once the sun starts going down, it looks blue and then after sunet, it looks grey! Lighting can make a huge difference Looks amazing! Re: Building with Gemmill Homes~ lockup time 174Jul 07, 2012 11:32 am Yes I'm sure your both right, we had a professional color consultant so you would think she would know what she was talking about, colors selection really is the hardest part of the whole building process. I can't wait to see it all finished Re: Building with Gemmill Homes~ lockup time 175Jul 08, 2012 11:33 am This is an example of how one sample piece of Pixel Tabac formica can look different with different colors and light Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ It's hard to believe its the one Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is exactly the same Pixel Tabac sample piece as above for the doors and Luna stone for the benchtop, this is for the main bathroom Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Building with Gemmill Homes~ lockup time 176Jul 08, 2012 4:01 pm Just recently got a shock myself over colours, took my sample ensuite tile out in the sun and was shocked to see how pinky it looks. It is a kind of light sandstone colour, but a pink undertone is definitely there in direct sun. The lighting in the tile shop is shocking, really, it doesn't give you any idea of undertones at all!!! Pixel tabac is next to aurum on the colour chart and I do have a sample of that. Aurum is a golden/green with brown undertones. So the pixel tones in with it, only darker and less of the gold, and would definitely pick up either browns or greens nearby. Thanks for for your help with that, I took samples of our tiles and it looks much better with other colors with it, I love the combination below, of course it will look much better with the blue plastic taken off and surrounded by tiles Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ My kitchen has had its stone tops put on today, I was so excited but had to go out for the day and it was dark by the time I got home. I know how you feel about going slow, we powered along and then we just slowed right down. Thanks Trees I love the color, it looks black until you have a good look then you find all the lovely colors.
