Tilers should be about a week away. I just added the exterior pic then. Re: MaxyB Family Home- Painting has started 163Mar 06, 2010 8:22 pm Well we managed to dodge most of the very bad weather over in the outer east but it still bucketed down so we planned a very quick visit and just as well. When we arrived we noticed all the windows had plastic all over them, a bit like Dexter had prepared his “work area” . I did find one window with no plastic and it was obvious the painters had started but not finished. What I could see was good and I think we have done ok with our colour choice but next weekend will be good as we get in while we have a measure & quote done on our blinds. Anyway no pictures this week and there was nothing to see, but next week should yield and good deal of new shots. Front isn't finished yet. It certainly isn't to everyone's liking. We still need the portico to go up. We changed the style and material for the portico design. It's amazing how much difference some paint can make to a room. Our painting should be finished by the end of next week. I'll keep watching your progress. Re: MaxyB Family Home- Painting has started 166Mar 06, 2010 8:55 pm MaxyB read your blog in a bit more detail. We also are having a read door and have decided on monument for the garage. We are still deciding on finish for the alfresco, driveway and entrance and noticed you have decided on bluestone/black concrete. Did you have others in mind or was this what you always wanted? Initially thinking of a white brown and black/blue mix aggregate but now thinking maybe we should go with a dark bluestone mix or something like that. Our front path won't be aggregate but instead I had in mind bluestone pavers. This would look silly if we don't go with a dark colour for driveway etc. Re: MaxyB Family Home- Painting has started 167Mar 07, 2010 8:37 pm Dollar MaxyB read your blog in a bit more detail. This would look silly if we don't go with a dark colour for driveway etc. With the driveway we are a bit resticted by cost, I would love an exposed agg driveway but simply cant afford it & I knew that from the start so we went the bluestone/black colour as it will match the rest of the house, the next best thing but exposed agg does look good, so if you can afford it it might be worth it. Maybe match it with one of your lighet bricks? Yes the stuff is very expensive but we have been quoted just a little but more for exposed aggregate and the other half really wants it. Yeah we are thinking of matching it to our lighter bricks however the mix has blue/black white and brown bits in it which is basically the colours we have used anyone so I think it should match up well. Fingers crossed. Meeting up with the guy tomorrow to measure and tell him how we want the driveway done. This is the most excited I have been in a while, apart from seeing the kitchen go in. Re: MaxyB Family Home- Painting has started 169Mar 15, 2010 9:42 pm Well it took Michelangelo about 4 years to paint the Sistine Chapel but in just over a week our place will be painted in all its hogs bristle glory . We went out on Saturday and the painters were almost finished and should be done tomorrow. I am told the tiling will be done this week and the sparkie might just start the electrical fit off also, I won’t hold my breath on that one . So overall we are getting there and while the builder said an Easter handover is not going to happen he is very confident that he will make the April 30 contract end date. I say so he bloody should, there is bugger all left to do & if he takes another 7 weeks I think I will have a tantrum I know how they work I have a 2 & half yo for inspiration Anyway there are a couple of pictures below our the painters work site to give you an idea of how its looking Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Blog: http://funmore-residence.blogspot.com/ Forum: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=21109 Construction Start - 19/09/09 Slab Poured - 21/10/09 Frame Completed - 25/11/09 Lockup - 22/12/09 Fixing - 22/02/10 Handover & Moved In 30/04/2010 Re: MaxyB Family Home- Painting almost finished 170Mar 15, 2010 10:03 pm Yay painters. Yep, the place did have an odour about it The tilers start next monday and I am not sure when the sparkie is back, I am told this week. My builder is still sticking to the April 30 date, I think they should be earlier. What finish date do you have? I love the hog bristle which is good since I am getting it too! I hope you have had awesome progress this week so you can get an early handover Maybe they prefer to say a later day and then exceed your expectations by completing a little early. I know with the lady at the tile shop she said she built with them and they ended up finishing a week or two before they said But in the end it is only 6 weeks now and I think that will go by really quickly for you (I know time flies for me) and then you will want to look back on this as a good time watching your house grow so I guess you just need to enjoy the final stages of building as you may never get to do this again (dont know about you but I wouldnt ) I know it is hard I hate living with my parents now they are driving me nuts but the end is in sight for me now and it is even closer for you! Just try to think it is next month and we are nearly at the end of March Anyhow cant wait to hear how your progress went this week - they are going full on at my place at the moment and I am loving it! Kel PS - I read a comment I cant find now about your curtain appointment being too expensive and you were getting another one can you please let me know who was too expensive as I dont want to bother with them then? thanks curtain budget is a bit tight Building in Mooroolbark! We have a water tank and all the AirCon / Heater vents are in except one and the return air and control units are on the wall. We met the tiler on Saturday and they should be finished off tomorrow . The sparkie is due back this week and I assume the plumber won’t be too far behind. With all this progress you would think we would get in early but alas upon speaking with our Construction Manager we have decided that April 30 it is . He said it maybe a week or two early but definitely April 30 with an PCI on or about April 20. I have decided on certainty then I can organise the removalists, furniture delivery, foxtel and the bed all to come within a coupe of days of handover. We plan to stay with my in-laws for a few days because we can un-pack and sort everything out, install gates etc without the kiddies under our feet and then by Wednesday after 4 days hard yakka it should all be done, well nearly all done. I have posted photos of the front door and the water tank as well as a few other items, I am sure you will work it out but there is more on my blog Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Blog: http://funmore-residence.blogspot.com/ Forum: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=21109 Construction Start - 19/09/09 Slab Poured - 21/10/09 Frame Completed - 25/11/09 Lockup - 22/12/09 Fixing - 22/02/10 Handover & Moved In 30/04/2010 Re: MaxyB Family Home- Painting finished, well sort of 174Mar 22, 2010 9:45 pm Very nice MaxyB!
