Browse Forums Building A New House Re: The Story of Stormy's Castle. *A few new piccies* 1561Apr 25, 2010 10:01 am Hi Stormy, your home is looking gorgeous. I just had to tell you, that yesterday, while skimming through catalogues, I saw some pictures, just like your homemade butterfly ones selling for about $40 each. Same size and everything. I didn't keep the catalogue, but now wish I had so I could let you know what shop it was that selling them. You have obviously started a new trend in house fashion Blog:http://tamdaz-themajestic.blogspot.com The Majestic - Henley - Adelaide Thread:https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20635 Day 200 23-4-10 Re: The Story of Stormy's Castle. *A few new piccies* 1562Apr 25, 2010 10:48 am hehehe... Thanks TamDaz. There are actually quite a few similar things around, and I certainly was not the first to come up with the idea. I just wanted to make one myself (I love doing stuff like this) with my own 'take' on it. I was fortunate enough that a shop I supply other things to saw it on Facebook and asked if I'd make some for them to sell. Certainly not a new business adventure...I've only sold 1!! A lot I see are made with a craft punch in the shape of a butterfly, but mine are all painstakingly cut out by hand, making each one unique. Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! We have very similar taste. Most of my furnishings are french provincial with a tiny splash of shabby chic. Just noticed your couches in the last pic above. Are they from Freedom? They look identical to mine which are from Freedom's "Toorak range". Keep posting pics, I would love to see more!! Re: The Story of Stormy's Castle. *A few new piccies* 1564Apr 25, 2010 7:27 pm Hehe...yes, they are the (now obsolete) Freedom Toorak couches. Soooo comfy! I'll post some more pics when the house looks semi presentable...which isn't often!! Still a long way to go with the decorating, but slowly getting there! Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! Love those flowers - I have been searching endlessly for similar ones - artificial though - but they have to be extreme quality or else they are out - I have struggled to find anything and am a bit over buying new fresh ones every week or so The rest of the pics are fab - can't wait to see the ottoman and plantations! It doesn't get updated very often as the construction phase has well and truly finished! Decorating and finishing has taken a lot longer. haywgl Fantastic Stormy! Thanks Bel. Loving the flowers too! I think they are the first real ones in the house, the rest are fake. Suffering from asthma and hayfever it's safer that way!!! I know a great place where I get all my fakes from at wholesale prices, but it's over this side of town. If you are ever coming out this way let me know and I can give you the addy! I found something I loved in a shop and he reckons it looks like something you would find in an Op shop...even though it came with an over $1K price tag... (he has no taste!) Hi Stormy, Well you could always approach it from the angle that genuine antique french lanterns or chandeliers would be significantly more expensive than what you were looking at so really they're a bargain. And just in case you are interested in some actual antique french lanterns you could do worse than checking out http://www.meirelles.com.au/default.asp?Menu=50 Our Build - Places Fairhaven 23+ - https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=28045 Our Landscaping - Belial's Backyard - https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=45375 Re: The Story of Stormy's Castle. *A few new piccies* 1569Apr 27, 2010 2:16 am Your house is coming along beautifully. And just in case you are interested in some actual antique french lanterns you could do worse than checking out http://www.meirelles.com.au/default.asp?Menu=50 Thanks for the link...I know the shop and have been too scared to go inside! Gorgeous French comodes, but I definitely can't afford the $7K price tag . As for the lights, I think a small chandelier it will have to be. The ceilings aren't high enough to accomodate a lantern and I think the space is just too small. Judie Your house is coming along beautifully. It seems calm and serene, unlike our nuthouse! Judie Hi Judy, thanks for the thought! I'm not sure the stripes would be the look I'm after. Perhaps a little too modern? The ottoman I'm (attempting) to make will be a buttoned one on legs, so no storage, just to use as a coffee table. I had my heart set on a blue velvet, but I think the microsuede will be much easier to keep clean...and is alot cheaper! I hope it will look 'similar' to these ones: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ themax Oh your house is BEAUTIFUL Stormy. EDIT: Might as well post the completion of my latest project. These bed side drawers cost me $5 at a market, and I spent an extra $34 on them (spray paint, hardware and wrapping paper!), and they've come out like this: BEFORE: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ AFTER: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my lamp, and would dearly love another, but other things take priority at the moment. I have finished and put on the wall some flag canvases for my Son's room. It's still pretty 'non-decorated'...but these things take time...and money!!!
