We are so close to finishing, but just got too tired and wanted to watch the Grand Prix. We have 5 rows left to do, the last will be the trickiest as it's only half a board width up against the house. That will take another day. I will post some pics tomorrow, as I'm just too tired now, and I ache all over! ...but we did set up the TV out there, watched the big race and then had dinner out there! Bel, at this stage it will most likely be grass with a few plants around the brick pillars, but we'll have to level out the surface and bring in more top soil to hide the sides of the slab! It's all in the planning stages, but will take months to execute! Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! I was just wondering where did you get the bus blind that is your avatar? I used to live in Esher so I'm a bit curious. Thanks Re: The Story of Stormy's Castle. *THE DECK BUILDING* 1547Apr 09, 2010 6:44 pm Thankyou Grom! Still a long way to go with the decorating and landscaping, but I'm thinking of the bigger picture in a few years time. All good things take time I keep telling myself! lol I forgot to post a completed deck photo in here...so here it is, just not swept, stained or furnished...but you get the idea: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ With regards to the Bus Blind, my Sister's partner is English, and he bought several vintage blinds (about 8 of them!) from a market in London years ago. He had them sitting in the top of a cupboard for years collecting dust. My Sister has made a few for friends including the one for me. Although it's quite a modern art piece for my style of decor, it fits in really well with the colours of my family room, and I have a map of the Underground Stations to frame for the opposite wall, keeping to the theme! The (almost) completed deck looks as impressive as I thought it would; good luck with the sanding and polishing. Grom. P.S. If you ever decide the bus blind doesn't match your decor I'd be happy to take it off your hands Re: The Story of Stormy's Castle. *THE DECK BUILDING* 1551Apr 10, 2010 2:07 pm Thanks Kek and Sharky! grom40 P.S. Unfortunately, Hubby hates the French style lanterns . I found something I loved in a shop and he reckons it looks like something you would find in an Op shop...even though it came with an over $1K price tag... (he has no taste!) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I'm most likely going to get a similar chandelier for the entrance like the one in the dining (which is still sitting in a box under the stairs!), but then I have 2 lights in the hall way further on from the entrance I have a dilemna with. Ideally, I'd love lanterns, but I don't think the hallway is big enough to take two of them, despite being roughly 2.2m at the widest part. In the 'too hard' basket for the moment! We did manage to put up a couple of photo frames yesterday...that had been leaning up against the wall for 6 months! 2 down, only about 20 to go! No dining table or chairs yet. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ A few pages ago I was deciding on where to put my 2 vintage style maps. I have decided that they will sit above the couch, and I will most likey have only 2, not 3. I was then thinking about what to put beside the large window, and I happened to find another sheet of gorgeous wrapping paper ($6.95), and will chop that up and put it into frames...unsure what size at the moment.
