Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 1462Mar 24, 2011 8:58 pm ourhome Rabbitboy Ourhome I think you should have considered the fence issue BEFORE you bought the land. Some residents like the no fence aspect and you are being rather selfish insisting that you should be allowed to have one! Thanks a lot rabbitboy. Thinking about owns safety isn't being selfish. But if you think so I can't help you change your thoughts. For this you should see the spots of tyre burn outs. I wouldn't have been able to see that tyre burn outs are happening before I buy the land. So before commenting better know all the facts. Many thanks then too I think maybe the point here is that the rules existed before you bought the land so there is no point complaining. It is a bit like the people who buy a house next to Essendon airport then complain about the airplanes. Just my thoughts... Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 1463Mar 24, 2011 9:01 pm ourhome00 fladdle techno74 Hi this is an unsual question but for all those who have already moved into the I have a huge issue with mice. They are always in our garage and they are finding their way inside. Im concerned about them being inside because i am terrified of them. Does anyone have the same problem or know what to do to get rid of them. We have so many different traps but nothing is working. Also, im pregnant and really dont want to be sharing my home with mouse droppings. Just call an exterminator. Don't mess around with traps and the like, they are not that effective. Exterminator is the way to go. But if you go through the chain of my threads you would realize that I am concerned since the time I have seen some unwanted activities happening around the area. I wouldn't have been able to see that before I bought the land. People buying house near air port know that there is a airport near by. When I booked my land nowhere was it said that there will be tyre burnouts happening on your roads. When that stops happening I would be happy to have no fence and a beautiful landscaping. Personally speaking I seriously love the idea of not having fence in the front. It looks beautiful. I just hope the unwanted activities stop before everyone moves in. I hope you get my concern and the issue of safety. Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 1466Mar 24, 2011 10:49 pm ourhome Thanks a lot for that moving2epping. I second you DamoAu, the argument was dead and buried until mod decided dig it up again....things were said and now lets move one. By the way when do you guys think, Edgars Road will be connected with Harvest Home road ?..Not that I want it to be done any time soon. I would rather have it connected to Oherns Road and Cooper street earlier than That. ashrey|^| Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 1470Mar 25, 2011 1:33 pm ashrey ...the argument was dead and buried until mod decided dig it up again....things were said and now lets move one. Cheers Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 1471Mar 25, 2011 4:34 pm On a different topic, does anyone know how long VicUrban takes to issue the $300 cheque? I submitted my certificate of occupancy in February and have moved in since 5/3/2011. Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 1472Mar 25, 2011 4:47 pm ok i have now been in aurora for a week now yeah but yes the mouse problem is terrifying to me we have caught 2 in the house and there are more and i know some people will say so what they wont hurt you but i really am terrified of them it has ruined the moving in for me im not even able to unpack the boxes i have in the garage im so scared. i cant use bait due to having a dog and baby and also the cat idea may be out of the question with the dog. we tried traps with cheese the cheese was gone but the trap didnt go off going to try the peanut butter and might give the terminator a call like someone else suggested just scared they use bait everywhere. Not impressed with the traffic situation on miller and high st i thought it would be bad but i had no idea. It took me 45mins to drop my kids off at school down at peter lalor the first morning terrible. The worst part is you look at the roads while your sitting at a stand still and see all this land they could be using as turning lanes ( for those who want to head up to plenty road way) i hate to think how long it will take for something to be done. I spoke to vu last week and they told me they are going to do half of egders rd but the developer on the other side has to meet them in the middle. There is also a convienient store /cafe opening at the end of this month in reddings rd vu told me im thinking around the living and learning centre there. Not happy about the bus situation either. We are in broadleaf drive right down the end of rockfield last street there are plenty of bus shelters but no bus coming this way soon which means my son has to walk at good 20mins to the nearest stop that does run and they only come every 45min to 1hr if i wasnt working i dont know how he would get to high school. Vu told me the residents association needs to get residents to write to the local goverment for funding for the bus to come down further but they never told me how to get in touch with the association so would love to hear from anyone who is in it or knows about it. If you haven't received the latest newsletter (being dropped off by volunteer neighbours this week), please PM me and I'll see what I can do. The ACA welcomes all residents, here and in Lyndarum, to join and help out in any way that feels right for you. It might be that you're particularly concerned about the promised train line (that's my thing), or you want to help out with the telecommunications group to get a decent internet service or maybe you want to participate with the new community garden that's starting up soon or perhaps your interest is to join the women's craft circle. Maybe all you can do these days is to be a financial member - that will help the ACA too. You can email the secretary at auroracommunityassociation@gmail.com to get some information, to join up or to find out when the next meeting is. Can you imagine how many people might not need to use the Miller St or High St as much if there was a station at Harvest Home Rd (as some plans show) that took you to Lalor station? And, like you say, a more extensive bus service? These are things that the ACA is trying to work on but the more people who offer their expertise, the better we'll be at getting results. Come and join us! Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 1474Mar 25, 2011 6:10 pm I see Caroline Spring's have had thier Rail Station mothballed so I reckon we have Buckley's of getting one now in the near future. (Which I think is a good thing!) Train lines are very unattractive and a bus makes a lot more economic sense! Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 1475Mar 25, 2011 6:40 pm I agree, i personally don't like the noise pollution and vandalism that come with railway lines. The convenience would be good but frequent buses will just be as effective and safer - less vandals, burglars, thieves, drunks etc. Trains have been known to be a quick getaway for burglars and thieves. Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 1476Mar 25, 2011 6:49 pm techno74 - I feel your pain re Miller Street. I have given it a miss and now go to work via Craigieburn Road East (or whatever it's called - that comes off Epping Road, just north of Harvest Home Rd). I also send my son to school in Mernda. It only takes 8-10 minutes at present, although I'm sure this will become longer as more people move into the developments along Epping Road. I cannot speak highly enough about Acacia College, if you're ever considering changing schools to something closer. As for the mice, my uncle owns Perkins Exterminators in Greensborough so thought I'd give them a free plug! Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 1477Mar 25, 2011 6:52 pm BZaurora On a different topic, does anyone know how long VicUrban takes to issue the $300 cheque? I submitted my certificate of occupancy in February and have moved in since 5/3/2011. It took them 6 or 8 weeks to send our first one out (nothing from vicurban happens quickly). Then every month or two they send us a letter telling us they've had more delays and are extending the compensation, then another cheque a week or so after. Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 1478Mar 25, 2011 7:34 pm BZaurora I agree, i personally don't like the noise pollution and vandalism that come with railway lines. I always thought I would want a train station but you are right, they do tend to be fairly trashy parts of town. Are people already in the estate happy with the bus service? Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 1479Mar 25, 2011 7:55 pm The bus service at the moment is rubbish but with a few more buses and a more extensive route it will be ok! All that train infrastructure (tracks, overhead cables & large metal pylons) is unsightly and trashy. Running down the middle of Aurora, a train line will totally ruin the look of Aurora as as a green and tranquil estate! Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 1480Mar 25, 2011 10:52 pm oh i did forget one other thing im not really happy about. we handed over occupancy permit to get the compensation for mobile phone internet and tv. i told them i didnt want foxtel and would be happy to just have a antenna put up. they told me your not allowed to put antennas up and they were paying for the foxtel basic channels to compensate for 12months. so my question is what happens after 12 months when they no longer compensate you... do i have to pay foxtel for basic tv channels because im not allowed to put an antenna up? has anyone started getting compensation for the above if so how much did they offer you for phone and internet i thought it was interesting they didnt ask how many people lived in the house do they offer the same for a family of two as they do for a family of 5 for internet obviously the larger the family the more net you will use and the more phone calls.
