Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Coral Homes general build thread 1421Jun 08, 2015 2:55 pm Wow site scape on PH. Looks great. My SS told me theres a huge fine for doing any work on a PH. Apparently if you are licensed for a tool and even turn it on in your own yard you can be fined! Crazy. Re: Coral Homes general build thread 1422Jun 08, 2015 2:58 pm Finnsmamma Wow site scape on PH. Looks great. My SS told me theres a huge fine for doing any work on a PH. Apparently if you are licensed for a tool and even turn it on in your own yard you can be fined! Crazy. Wow really? We spent the morning digging post holes with a bobcat, there were a few looky loos driving past and more than a few tradies at work on neighbouring houses. Interesting. Re: Coral Homes general build thread 1423Jun 08, 2015 3:03 pm Well it's kind of a long story, but I ran into my younger brothers friend an asked what he was doing with himself etc, turns out he was meant to scrape a site on Saturday morning but got too drunk the night before and was hungover - we got talking and I asked him who it was for? Turns out it was our block of land that he didn't do.. Very small world! He felt very bad and told me it would get done before Tuesday! We were disappointed in SS thinking it was his fault but had nothing to do with him so glad to see it was done this morning Modified Sapphire - Wauchope NSW https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75816&p=1302396#p1302396 Re: Coral Homes general build thread 1424Jun 08, 2015 3:51 pm monalisa Hi Melly When will your home be ready? We are looking at Christmas for ours, and wondering if we should buy a few things during the half yearly sale.... but wonder if these companies will be willing to hold on to until then? We should be in sometime in September Monalisa - just a one storey build for us. We told the people in the furniture shop what was going on and they said they're receiving a shipment in September so can reserve us a table from that shipment. I imagine there would be a few (bigger) retailers that are able to do that. It was Nick Scali that agreed for us. Be careful with them, we bought a couch through them and were told they would happily hold it until we were ready to move in, the couch was made and they gave a date for delivery, we extended it for a couple weeks and that was ok but they said that was it, we did get another extension for two weeks but that was a hassle to do. Re: Coral Homes general build thread 1429Jun 08, 2015 7:45 pm What wattage and lumens down lights is everyone using? I'm in the process of purchasing about 50 now and see some advertised at $23 down from $70 (apparently). Not sure if they will be suitable. Re: Coral Homes general build thread 1430Jun 08, 2015 8:01 pm Hey Matdon, From everything I have seen a combination is what where going to do 10watts and some 13watts the 13watters are 900lumens Im pretty sure in warm white, they are bright in cool white even brighter. 1 in the centre of the bathroom is plenty of light for example, will have a dimmer also so you can reduce brightness when you don't want it. Hope that belps a bit. Re: Coral Homes general build thread 1431Jun 08, 2015 8:14 pm Thanks Browndog, just don't want to be under done with brightness. Unsure as to cool verses warm yet either. I didn't get any dimmers put in during Clipsal either which could've been a mistake. Thanks anyway Re: Coral Homes general build thread 1432Jun 08, 2015 8:42 pm MatDon Thanks Browndog, just don't want to be under done with brightness. Unsure as to cool verses warm yet either. Re: Coral Homes general build thread 1433Jun 08, 2015 8:43 pm We got 13W 900 lumens from lightibg illusions. 18.90 each. Sparky told us 900lumens was pretty bright. I saw some 10-13W in other brands as low as 200lumens. Re: Coral Homes general build thread 1434Jun 08, 2015 8:45 pm We had dimmers put in 2 over the master bed (for reading) and left the others plain. Have set up 6 across the living area in 3 sets of 2 wired together, so we can switch all, 4 or just 2 on. Also getting retractible fan lights for lounge dining so could just use those and no LED. So hard to tell how it will light up until its all done. Such an unknown. Re: Coral Homes general build thread 1435Jun 09, 2015 9:49 am Today marks one week exactly since we've had anybody on site and there is nobody there again. It's doing my head in! Gyprock and sand have been delivered but there's nobody to work on it Our lock has been changed as well - apparently some trades were having trouble with it, so it's been changed, but now we're locked out! Is it a particular brand or something, like with the kitchen appliances? Especially when you're paying a mortgage on it and it's another week where you've been paying out yet are no nearer to moving in Sorry. My husband is trying to get in contact with our SS to find out what the hell is going on /quote] Ohh no! Frustrating. There is a MAJOR shortage of brickies in Brisbane at the moment which is causing a lot of delays for most builders.... My brickies still need to come back "at some stage" and finish the window sils.... It's incredibly annoying as you know the other trades are all waiting for bricks to be done before continuing. That's where I'm at with my doors being stolen. Tiling should have been happening since last Friday, now it looks like our replacement doors will arrive Friday and so tiling will start a full week and a half late.... which means cabinets will be late... and it just runs down the line. Carpenter is there today doing the architraves.. but that should have been done last week. He's sent his offsider to another job as it's only a days easy work for 1 person. This week is going to DRAG for me knowing so much SHOULD have been happening. I saw a REECE truck parked at the front at 8:30am and I got excited that things might at least be getting delivered.. but seems it wasn't for us as nothing new is in the site. Just our sad tiles sitting unloved.... Re: Coral Homes general build thread 1439Jun 09, 2015 12:17 pm Yes my hubby's hairdressers hubby is a builder and they told us they had to go around to building sites and offer the brickies an extra 20c per brick to get them to come to their job next. Our ss told us he will do a reverse build so that not having brickies won't matter but I'm not sure how that will work if the house isn't locked up. My build viewtopic.php?t=76386 Re: Coral Homes general build thread 1440Jun 09, 2015 12:36 pm My hubby sent me a message that the electrician is on site. I'm guessing he heard from the SS? I'll give him a call when I get a chance to find out what's happening. I should be grateful that SOMEBODY is working, but I really want bricks. Or my roof finished! I've heard that roofer and brickies are in high demand, but it doesn't make waiting any easier! Follow my Coral Daydream 28 build: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=72384 You should check your detail drawings, it may show downpipe within brick pier. 14 14863 Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 15159 Hi so sorry for the late reply. I already contacted them and they wouldn't tell me instead they tried to get me to talk to one of their home coordinators and I'm not… 2 6574 |
