Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Simonds Sierra - Nearly finished 141Mar 07, 2014 6:26 pm Our bricks were left behind and our neighbor took them lol. We also had left over roof tiles and kept some and the others we put in the skip. Re: Simonds Sierra - Nearly finished 142Mar 11, 2014 7:24 pm We went to check out the house today as we were told flooring had started. All the timber laminates were installed and look great, we'd chosen blackwood from PTF. I couldnt get any photos though as all doors were locked, the windows were dirty on the inside and out as well as being wet from the rain. Our site has been cleaned up too and the painting on the front of the house was finished. Hoping we get some news on PCI too as from what I'm aware the only things that are waiting are the garage door, driveway, carpets, rangehood, hot water system and door handles. Re: Simonds Sierra - Nearly finished 143Mar 12, 2014 7:36 am Re: Simonds Sierra - Nearly finished 144Mar 12, 2014 10:45 am Hi mjmelb, Your house progress is going good. Actually my house is in the same boat like your maybe my house is ahead by three weeks. When I was in the same stage of your house, I was expecting that I am two weeks far from PCI but that was not true Today my house is completed from in and out only waiting few touches of paint here and there but the PCI on 24/03. Yesterday I got this date after very long and hard discussion with my SS. They need sometime around 2-3 weeks for cleaning and quality inspection. Try to manage your expectation with comparing the scenario that happened with me. Bye Re: Simonds Sierra - I don't want to wait anymore 145Mar 12, 2014 2:14 pm I don't want to wait anymore. Our two year anniversary for the start of this process was on Monday. Its so close its annoying me!! Re: Simonds Sierra - I don't want to wait anymore 147Mar 12, 2014 4:08 pm I feel your pain!! Lately it just feels like we will never be in the house!! It's our first home and it just feels like it's never going to happen I know it will, just waiting sucks Re: Simonds Sierra - I don't want to wait anymore 148Mar 13, 2014 6:49 am Elhati I understand how you feel, but nothing in our hands! When I look at the building stage itself, i think 20 weeks for building a house is a good time. True, building the house has been quick, but its the not knowing the time frame at the end which is annoying. We first started this process on March 10 2012, so we've been waiting 2 years now, we're sick of our rental and we're sick of it being so close yet having no idea when we'll be in and not knowing anything about the build unless we follow it up. I think builders forget that this is the biggest purchase of people's lives, everything hangs waiting for it, people's futures rely on it....they don't seem to remember that. Day 733. It's our first home and it just feels like it's never going to happen I know it will, just waiting sucks Yeah, first house for us too...and we're getting OLD!! My sister is coming to visit at Easter too and I really want it to be at the new house, not our cruddy rental. Re: Simonds Sierra - I don't want to wait anymore 150Mar 13, 2014 11:42 am Oh I'm sure you will be in by Easter! We are looking to be in be then and you guys are much further along than what we are Re: Simonds Sierra - I don't want to wait anymore 151Mar 15, 2014 3:12 pm We went for a visit today and our driveway had been laid. I was happy to see that they actually laid concrete to the front door, which was much better than the slab that we thought we'd have to do something with ourselves. We were also able to get in and check out the floors, can't wait to see them when they don't have a layer of dust on them. It looks similar to what we are having! Ours is bolero rustic coffee! You guys are only a matter of a week or so off!! So exciting Re: Simonds Sierra - I don't want to wait anymore 153Mar 18, 2014 12:24 pm OK, this is nearly beyond a joke now. We still don't know when PCI will be. I know that the build has been really fast so far, however its slowed down to what feels like a crawl. Our SS is trying to confirm tradies that were booked in via our last SS and is having some trouble getting commitment from them. Apparently we should know PCI date on Thursday....which was the day PCI was excpected for about 3 weeks ago. I've got a bad feeling we're not going to be in by Easter now. Day 738. Re: Simonds Sierra - I don't want to wait anymore 154Mar 18, 2014 12:32 pm Oh you should be in by Easter for sure! That's still 5 weeks away! Even we are expecting to be in by Easter and we are behind you, I'm sure it's not going to be too much longer now Re: Simonds Sierra - I don't want to wait anymore 155Mar 19, 2014 12:49 pm So we just found out that we need to move our left over bricks further from the middle of the garage as the garage door installers need the room. So we'll be going back tonight to move them again....another 3 hours! Anyway, our SS told us that everything had been done, only the roller door was left, so hopefully they'll be able to get their Quality inspection done this week or next and the PCI shortly after. Hopefully when we go up tonight, we'll see carpets, door handles and a rangehood. Fingers crossed. Re: Simonds Sierra - I don't want to wait anymore 156Mar 19, 2014 1:15 pm So T this rate you wil be in before in first week of April? Re: Simonds Sierra - I don't want to wait anymore 157Mar 19, 2014 7:28 pm I really hope so stayxtrue. I feel like I'm a roller coaster at the moment. We were happy to see today that our carpet was in and front door stained. Not loving the door as much as others I've seen on this forum, but its ok. We might paint it black one day to match the windows. Our carpet was slightly darker than I expected but I absolutely love it, can't wait to sink my toes into it. Our house had been cleaned too, so I could get some decent photos through the windows. There are still some dusty boot marks around the place but thats to be expected. I reckon the dust would take a few weeks to settle after we've moved in. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Tiles, carpet and floating floors. Looks really, really nice... cannot seriously believe that was a slab just a week before Christmas... wowza.
