Congratulations, not long to go now Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 142Aug 03, 2013 10:33 pm MJ Overture Wow sounds amazing, would you mind posting a picture of your plans..would be good to see?! Very exciting times ahead..where are you building? Most the items we selected were included, the only things we upgraded from memory were waterfall edges and undermount sink for the island bench, rain shower head for the ensuite, added a buttlers pantry like in the display home. Other than that we were happy to stick to the standard inclusions for internals. We felt our money could be better spent on lighting/electrical which depending on what you want can cost a small fortune. Try this link to a picture of our plans? http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/6223/mz8l.jpg Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 143Aug 03, 2013 10:59 pm I love what you have done to the plan.. I barely recognized it as the Overture at first glance..looks great! Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 144Aug 03, 2013 11:42 pm Hi Chopdog Your kitchen, dining, family and alfresco are almost identical to our Symphony. We have moved the Kitchen to have the window splash back also. Is yours 600mm high x 3000mm wide? We want a concealed rangehood even though the glass canopy one was included in our tender. Does anyone know who much extra it would be roughly for waterfall edges to the island, and an undermount double sink? I would love to add these two features to the kitchen. Regards Ally Hi Ally, We had both put in our tender and it was $950 for the sink with no drainage cut outs in the stone. The waterfall ends are $1400 for both at 40mm. It's strange that the waterfall ends are that price yet it cost us $1200 to upgrade the powder room to stone. Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 146Aug 04, 2013 11:56 am Hi Everyone, I have practically brand new Venetian blinds left from our old house if anyone interested to purchase for a bargain, before I place them on Gumtree. They do not match the size or the feel of our new house. Maybe it can save you $$$. sample picture. We bought them 2 months before we decided that it did not work, and the only way is to build a new house Just PM me and I'll get the size details for you. I thought our powder room was stone, hmmm. Must check on that. If your powder room is included that's fantastic. Both our upstairs bathrooms are but not downstairs. I thought the waterfall end price was really good. If only the serving window was as good. At $4k I just don't know if I can justify it, especially since it has the sink in front of it so is harder to lean over. Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 149Aug 04, 2013 6:21 pm HI all, Did anyone use a professional builder/inspector to check on the quality, or things i might miss on these scheduled inspections, if so does anyone have a recommendation. Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 151Aug 05, 2013 8:58 am Ben and Lisa - we used Richard at Arrunga Building Services for the roofing inspection - I just found him through an internet search. He cost $495. He found some things that I would never have seen (and frankly don't really understand!) - thankfully, they did not seem to be hugely significant. Masterton say they have fixed them. For me, the peace of mind of knowing that nothing is hugely structurally problematic is worth the expense. Our progress seems to have slowed - we are still not at lock up and it still seems to be some time away. However there were 3 utes parked at the front this morning so hopefully a busy week. Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 152Aug 05, 2013 4:41 pm Hey all, We've just formally begun our journey by signing and paying our deposit to Masterton last Friday, August 2nd. We purchased our land in Collaroy on May 31st and we've chosen the Cello design with the Allure facade. We originally looked at 2 story houses but then found we were able to add 2 bedrooms to the 4 bedroom cello design giving us the 6 bedrooms that we needed for a price that fit our budget better. We've made a number of changes to the original design and my favourite evening past time once the 2 yo has gone to sleep has been to scroll through the mountains of information on the 4 Masterton threads and have used this information to get a few discounts for us along the way. Some things we have done are - 2 Extra Bedrooms Industrial sized bifold door 2.4m High/10m wide Ceilings raised to 2.7m High Smeg appliance upgrade (no charge) Dark bamboo flooring Living, hallway, master bed and study Dark brown carpets Bedrooms (no charge) Window splashback in the kitchen Full length window ensuite Tiles to roof bathroom and ensuite Tiled concrete slab to front patio Medium duty sarking Change roof pitch at back for Skylights Sky lights x 3 in Kitchen Sky tubes x 2 in hallway Render the front Additional window to my study Add door to my study Add door to our ensuite Add Acoustic insulation to Theatre Add Bulkhead to Theatre room Cold water point to the fridge Wider breakfast bar and cupboards under the front of bench Add recess nooks to shower Laundry Cabinets Spa Bath Bit sad to see no other Cello builders on the thread. Maybe there's a few reading the thread even if they haven't posted. Would love to see photos if there are! Just had to introduce ourselves and become part of the team. What a great community. I look forward to getting to know you all more as we all go along. PS It's quite fun reading the Masterton 3.0 blog from the beginning and see all the people finishing now starting their journey. I haven't finished it yet but its reassuring to see that there is an end! It still feels like such a pipe dream to us. 23/5 Land 2/7 $3500 20/11 5% 2014 14/1 Floor 28/1 Sentinel 5/3 Col 11/3 DA 25/3 Elec 2/4 Land settled 3/4 Demo 8/4 Pool 17/4 Peg 5/5 Cert 24/6 Exc 7/7 Slab 30/7 Frame 4/8 Bricks Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 153Aug 05, 2013 4:50 pm Cello_Collaroy, welcome to the thread. A very nice introduction of your dream house. Thanks for joining our team. You must have a big land to add extra 2 bedrooms for a single level house. Are you in Northern Beaches, NSW? Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 154Aug 05, 2013 6:51 pm Hi guys, It has been a hectic read but really useful and interesting! We're looking at building the tiffany 4 bedder as our piece of land is very small and could only fit the tiffany. It also fits within our budget. Just organising the site inspection at this stage to get an idea of site costs and such. Made a few adjustments by extending the latter half of the house to the full width matching the garage (don't know why the actual design did not utilise the full width) so that its a rectangle not a 'cut' rectangle. Cello_collaroy, just wondering how much did the extension of 2 beds cost you? Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 155Aug 05, 2013 7:47 pm ben+lisa HI all, Did anyone use a professional builder/inspector to check on the quality, or things i might miss on these scheduled inspections, if so does anyone have a recommendation. We used Howard Ryan he's a bit more expensive then some of the others online but his reports are fantastic, really easy to understand and also provides photos for reference. If you mention that you were recommended from this forum he will give you a discount as well. Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 156Aug 05, 2013 7:53 pm talk about bad luck with tiles....talked to our SS and the tiles still haven't arrived so no further work can be done in the bathtoom. called Dons and the first tiles arrived discoloured so they re-ordered and then the second lot came in defected now no eta on when next shipment is coming.....now our original selection is due to arrive in 2 weeks but with all this drama we have just decided to use the same feature tile we used in our en-suite, tiles got ordered today so hopefully arrival this week.... *fingers crossed* SS still aiming for PCI end of the month! Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 157Aug 05, 2013 8:23 pm Today we got our call from Don's Tiles to say that our tiles that we selected for our alfresco and other outside areas are no longer available so we have to go out to Narellan to pick different tiles - as many who have come before me have said, this is enormously disappointing and frustrating. The alfresco tiles that we picked beautifully complimented the indoor tiles leading to the outside. Also, we paid an interior designer to help us select the tiles - Don's Tiles will not pay for him to come back out to help us select the new ones. Perhaps those who have not yet signed contracts should ask for a penalty clause for non-delivery of items selected at colours. They NEVER deliver the tiles you select originally. Virtually every one for the last 2 years on the forum/thread building with M, never get the original floor tiles, and only about 1/2 would get the wet area tiles. I totally agree, if you have not paid your 5%, demand that they will cover the extra cost on you to re-select tiles they cannot provide, that you pay some deposit for. They never tell you that.
