Re: The Rocks Place - The Summit - Mt Barker SA 143May 20, 2011 12:35 pm HillsCass mrsroc congratulations on the fantastic news about the sale!! I'm so glad that you stood your ground with the builder and got them sorted out. Onwards and upwards from here!! Hey HillsCass, thanks, I'm getting just a little excited. Not looking forward to the packing, cleaning and sorting. Going to start this weekend 7yrs of stuff in this house plus Hubby and I have been together for 26yrs so a bit of stuff has followed us from all these years. Luckly Hubby has sold most of our furniture so not much to move there. Re: The Rocks Place - The Summit - Mt Barker SA 144May 22, 2011 12:46 pm Just catching up on threads. Congrats with the sale of the house its amazing what builders can do when you stand your ground Re: The Rocks Place - The Summit - Mt Barker SA 145May 22, 2011 9:04 pm I hear you on the cleaning out stage we had to clear out my mums estate late last year..... Aargh they had been in that house for over 35 years and were chronic pack rats sadly I had to bring stacks of boxes home to go through... They are still in the shed waiting for my health to improve good luck with your mission are you going to rent in the meantime ? I still have both my parents and I keep saying to them it is important that the tidy up, certainly not looking forward to having to do the clean up in their house. They have lived in the same house all their married lives that 71yrs worth of memories. My Dad had his own business and still thinks that he needs the business papers. I have tried to explain that you only have to keep 7 yrs and the business has been gone longer than that. I know where I get it from. We do plan to rent during our build. Let's hope we don't have any problems finding a short rental. There are quite a few properties up here that have been up for rental for sometime, so I'm hoping that somebody would be happy to have a nice familiy in even if only for a short period. Congrats with the sale of the house its amazing what builders can do when you stand your ground Hey, nice to here from you. The "SOLD" sign went on on Saturday, now it really seams like it is happening. Glad we put our foot down with the builder, however, they are wanting our broker to send a letter saying that we will have enough funds from the bank since the first payment is due after slab and the next is due after frames and roof. Which if they start anytime soon we may not have gone through settlement. My calculations are that as of tomorrow we will be 74 days from settlement and they originaly told us that firstpayment will be due 60 days from start so unless they are going to get to that point by the 6th of June, which means 14 days including tomorrow to get the slab down, I think we should be allright with the money, perhaps they should get their calculator out and do some sums. Just between you and me I don't see how they will get a slab down within the next 14 days. Would be nice though. Re: The Rocks Place - The Summit - Mt Barker SA 148May 23, 2011 9:50 pm Hi Mrsroc, I am also building in the Summit - hopefully we will start this week. I have been watching your posts for alittle while - glad you are all sold! The Summit is a lovely spot - even better when they finish beautifying the park/lake area Re: The Rocks Place - The Summit - Mt Barker SA 149May 25, 2011 1:50 pm noelz Hi Mrsroc, I am also building in the Summit - hopefully we will start this week. I have been watching your posts for alittle while - glad you are all sold! The Summit is a lovely spot - even better when they finish beautifying the park/lake area Hey noelz, welcome, if you don't mind me asking what is your street and lot no. The park area will be nice when finished, I'm sure my kids (girls aged 14 & 11) will probably head do there for some alone time. Re: The Rocks Place - We have a start date 150Jun 23, 2011 9:44 pm Well the good news is our settlement date has been changed from 5th Aug to 20th July. Better get my skates on now need to find somewhere to live and start packing. Been having issues with builder as they wouldn't give us a start date until they sight the settlement papers. Even after agent sent an email, broker sent and email, at the builders request, they said that they can only start build if they have a bank guarantee or settlement papers. Well DH wasn't real happy with this and requested a phone call from the construction manager. To cut a long story short DH won and we have a start date of 4th July. Re: The Rocks Place - The Summit - Mt Barker SA 151Jun 23, 2011 9:57 pm awesome! Nearly drove by today to see if you had any progress - that''s great news! We have just had our frame started - you feel like a different person once the build actually starts - Im a much nicer level headed person than I was 4 weeks ago! How mental! Im really ticked off, that's probably 5 years away! Re: The Rocks Place - The Summit - Mt Barker SA 153Jun 24, 2011 9:38 am Woo hoo - I can see some 4th July celebrations coming on!! How mental! Im really ticked off, that's probably 5 years away! It is great and thanks. I can't wait to feel a little normal again. I must say I have been a little snappy at times. It's hard not to let the little things get to you when there is so much uncertainty about where you are headed. But I feel better now and I am sure once I see some action at the block I will feel ontop of the world. Not good about the postal service we had the same thing happen when we built in Waterford Estate (current home) when I went to the post office after living in the home for sometime they asked me if I wanted a post box I said sure and then the told me the cost. I said I'm not paying for a box you should give it to me because I have a brand new letter box at my place. The said no so I said OK I'll just keep coming in to pickup my mail. Didn't take long before the mail service started. Anyway our estate now joins into the old one so why can't the postie just drive a little further. They'll probably give in and give it to us sooner if we all don't get post boxes. Re: The Rocks Place - The Summit - Mt Barker SA 155Jun 24, 2011 3:46 pm Mclaren Woo hoo - I can see some 4th July celebrations coming on!! Great stuff - a start date Hey Thanks. I didn't realise until I read your post that the 4th July is Independance Day in the USA. My baby sister lives in Boston so I'll have a double celebration. I'll pretty much just celebrate anything to do with the house at the moment. Even a portaloo could make me down a glass or two of bubbles. Re: The Rocks Place - The Summit - Mt Barker SA 156Jun 24, 2011 3:49 pm Yay for skips and portaloos!! Gotta love 'em and then you can't wait till they're gone!! Re: The Rocks Place - The Summit - Mt Barker SA 157Jul 06, 2011 9:10 pm Hi all, well the move is on we have found a rental which is in between Lucene's and Noelz's house and is walking distance from our build. Those builders won't be able to get away with anything with us living so close. We get the keys for the rental on Mon 11th, I really need to get the packing done now. House was due to start on Monday but as we all know in SA it hasn't stopped raining. The house next to us had dumpped all their dirt on our block so DH asked that it be removed, you should see the mess the bobcat has made. Anyway don't see it starting any time soon. Praying for some sun. Re: The Rocks Place - The Summit - Mt Barker SA 158Jul 07, 2011 9:22 am Congrats on the rental - and so close to your build! That will be handy all the best with the packing and moving next week. I hear you about the rain, but our mad footings contractors have had to work through it, as they left our job til last so you never know when you just might see some progress! But yes, all building matters aside, some sunshine would be nice. The rain this week up here has been madness! Hasn't the rain been awful just when they said we were expected to have a dry winter Our house is surrounded by a moat which is not good as the window ledges still need to be finished.
