Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Coral Homes general build thread 1381Jun 04, 2015 9:41 pm Yep thats what i think.. thr whole estate is house sites. Of 84 blocks maybe 15 havent started and 8 or so have been completed, all others are . working sites. 2 dayd before i watched the sparky from 2 doors up wander into my house eating a mandarine just as i had walked out of it and sat in my car! Re: Coral Homes general build thread 1382Jun 04, 2015 10:06 pm Totally agree, I was on site where another tradie was at a different house just a couple doors up and was a different builder who walked on site and grabbed the cross bracing strapping for the roof and went and fitted it, lol Re: Coral Homes general build thread 1383Jun 05, 2015 9:11 am daydream_build That's such a shame Finnsmamma. Our house was broken into before the garage door was on but looks like all they took were 5 boxes of mosaic tiles. But in saying that the tiles had been sat in the garage where anyone could take them for weeks! There's some real low lifes out there. Have to say it makes me a little nervous about leaving our owner supplied appliances at the house. The SS told us to drop them off early this week. But we checked with the sparky and he's not there until Tuesday so we will be dropping them off until Monday. Had to arrange insurance for them today too as they're not covered by Coral. Our friends brought their own appliances and had them sitting in the house ready to install. They were stolen two days later and nothing was covered by coral. Poor things are in the process of saving to buy new ones. I will say that they didn't have trust in some of the tradies so you never know. Insurance is a must. Re: Coral Homes general build thread 1384Jun 05, 2015 9:17 am Nic and Shell 1 Firstbuild92 Thank you, it was one of the must haves to have a double shower because the OH likes to hog the shower, lol. You can get the dimensions from your plans, if not the good copies you should at least have the ones from the sales consultant which are pretty much to scale Ah yes a shower hog, we all love them! The dimensions are 1300x920 so if I have it 500 across and 350 high that should be fine. Leaves 21 each side of the wall. Re: Coral Homes general build thread 1385Jun 05, 2015 9:21 am daydream_build Aren't they a standard depth? They build the wall out so essentially you lose 70mm from room. I measured the ones we have at home now and they are 140mm deep so they must not be a standard. I would love them that deep but I don't want to loose anymore shower! And even with insurance is exactly why we won't be taking them there until they are needed despite what the SS says! The insurance company told me that because all the tradies have a key we would essentially only be covered if there were signs of a break in. Would help if I knew the shower dimensions! Thankyou Thank you, it was one of the must haves to have a double shower because the OH likes to hog the shower, lol. It will all be worth it in the end... Re: Coral Homes general build thread 1391Jun 05, 2015 11:58 am daydream_build I remember reading in jwbear's thread I think that the cost is the same no matter what the size. I wish - we're being charged $347 each for ours. They are 1745mm long though! Bit overkill I think, will have to get them shortened and then maybe we will get the 'normal' price hopefully... It really sucks doesn't it? How did you end up with any delay due to the missing tiles? At least the tiler could start I guess. You must have had a massive amount of boxes of those mosaics- you sure needed a few. Sorry to hear people's owner supplied appliances have been stolen too! I have to supply a lot of lighting, so I'll be asking the SS exactly when the sparkies are turning up to fit them and I'll take them when they get there I guess.. taking no chances now I know there are scumbags hanging around. Our tiles have been delivered today... I'm so worried now about things being stolen when we can't lock our house fully yet.... never thought I'd be wanting to get locked out. I saw the SS when I went past the build earlier. Things are a little worse than we thought. So not only did they take all bar 3 doors, they took all the kits to hang them AS WELL as half the soffit sheets!!!! So the chippie is there today, and has started the soffit, but can't even hang the 3 missing doors. They were hoping they could get them onto the wet rooms (2 bathrooms and laundry so that the tiler could start), but they won't fit and so now my tiling couldn't start today as planned EITHER!! The delay is likely to set us back 5 days. He is still hopeful of getting us to PCI within 4 weeks (you should have seen the stunned look on my face when he said that as we aren't even at lock up yet), and handover 5-10 days after that. I have NO IDEA how they will do it as no cabinetry is in yet and the brickies still have to come back at some stage to finish under some window sils and the back sliding doors. No tiling started, no architraves or doors on, no kitchen, no shelves in any cupboards or wardrobes, no painting, no lighting, roof insulation to fix once lighting done.... and probably a million more things I don't even know about..... shower screens, tapware, ovens etc.... how on earth can that get done in 4 weeks with a PH next week I have no idea, but the site will be crazy if he can manage it! Re: Coral Homes general build thread 1394Jun 05, 2015 1:08 pm Oh my family would LOVE that... I was in the shower last night while 2 of the kids were in the bath next to me (the littlest 2) and suddenly there were 3 children in the shower with me while I was trying to wash my darn hair! It's a tiny shower too... I had to scream for DH to evict them all as none would get out. No idea why any but the 1yo would think it was a good idea- there was not enough water for 2, let alone 4 people. Re: Coral Homes general build thread 1395Jun 05, 2015 1:40 pm That's so soon Finns mamma, will be interesting to see if they can stick to it. Nobody onsite again today. That's four days this week. I think we're going for a record Gyprock and our bath have been delivered. Seems we can get stuff delivered quick enough but then it just sits there... Nobody onsite again today. That's four days this week. I think we're going for a record Gyprock and our bath have been delivered. Seems we can get stuff delivered quick enough but then it just sits there... Don't loose heart. It's odd.. we've only been going 7 weeks yesterday and we've now had 3 weeks where there's literally only been a days work happen... but then there have been a couple of days were the place seems to be crawling with people. There have also been deliveries/little things happen that I haven't even noticed despite driving by 4 times a day. I noticed on Wed morning (when I was looking around after seeing the doors stolen that the roof insulation has been delivered at some stage as I can see the big bags of batts sitting in the roof cavity.. they weren't there on Tuesday that I noticed. The week we had rough in the SS said we'd also get bricks started, but they didn't start till the following Monday (last week) and worked all week as well as the plasterers. This week we had nothing Monday then Tuesday only the cornice went up while the waterproofer did his thing and the brickies finished off the front door and pillars (our brickies are way behind due to staff not turning up). We had no work Wednesday or yesterday and only a little will happen today with what the chippie has left of the soffit. It all seems like wasted time that every day goes by with nothing happening, but at least it's progressing. The little voice in our heads is screaming "someone could be here doing SOMETHING -surely!". Re: Coral Homes general build thread 1397Jun 05, 2015 2:41 pm Hey Nic and Shell shower looks great, was wondering what is your internal shower size? Looks like a great size. Ours is 1.5m long by 1m wide wishing we had done it a little wider maybe I dunno. We have same wall hand shower as you only difference is our shower head is seperate drops from the ceiling hopefully that works. Re: Coral Homes general build thread 1398Jun 05, 2015 2:45 pm daydream_build Firstbuild92 Can anyone recommend what size recess to get in the ensuite shower? I think coral said to get 500x400 as they are all the same price but I didn't know if that was too big. Thanks Ours are 350mm high x 400mm wide by 70mm deep. I think that's probably sufficient. Cost was $284 each. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I remember reading in jwbear's thread I think that the cost is the same no matter what the size. We made our shower recesses 600x400. Thanks Re: Coral Homes general build thread 1399Jun 05, 2015 6:37 pm Ours is 2x1 pretty sure. I've just realised in that photo there isn't any shower screens fitted, so it might be a little deceiving. Re: Coral Homes general build thread 1400Jun 05, 2015 6:53 pm Oh ok your getting shower screens they haven't popped them in yet then, the glass shouldn't make it feel small. We aren't actually having any screens just open walk in with a small dividing wall with an open recess. We just got a start estimation 1st week July, they will issue it officially end of next week they said once last couple of bits are signed. A little bit exciting I will wait til its official though You should check your detail drawings, it may show downpipe within brick pier. 14 14849 Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 15150 Hi so sorry for the late reply. I already contacted them and they wouldn't tell me instead they tried to get me to talk to one of their home coordinators and I'm not… 2 6547 |
