We didn't have a walk through cos that would mean they actually finished the jobs we are walking through to see, which they didn't..... Grrrrr...... Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1283Oct 23, 2015 7:02 pm EK1976 and Loks Loving your colour choices. Not long to go... Big Mama I can feel your pain. It will be all worth it at the end. I read all your posts, almost fell off my chair reading how much you paid for the spoil removal. Again will be all history once you move in. Well... So many surprises for me this week.. Frames are up. For the first time, SS called me (without me hazzling him this week) to inform frames are up and will be completed by next week. Is anyone following handovers on FB. Lots of handover pictures uploaded this week. Nice to see that many handovers. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1285Oct 24, 2015 1:32 pm I just joined this forum today and its nice to see everyone's progress. As for me it was been a great regret building with Kurmond. I paid the 5% deposit in Jan 17th 2015 and today its 24th of October and they still havent even put the slab down. At first the excuse was they were short on the drafting team, then the next excuse was the CSO assigned to handle my case had left, now the latest round of excuse is that they do not have enough Site Supervisors . If there are any new potential people looking to build with Kurmond BEWARE!!!!!! Get them to agree to a fixed completion/start date in writing otherwise God help you Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1286Oct 24, 2015 7:53 pm sad_boy I just joined this forum today and its nice to see everyone's progress. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1287Oct 25, 2015 3:43 pm Loks, we are doing ok. We have kitchen benchtop. Unsure if we have vanitites/shower screens or baths yet as we have just peeked in windows. Good to see everyone's updates, sad for anyone feeling the slowness. I am hoping that they want to push to get most of the ~6weeks club in before the end of the year. Hopefully for the others it will be fairly early next year. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1289Oct 27, 2015 3:51 pm Update. Main floor tile selection take 3 no choice unless we were prepared for further 5 week delay. Tiling main areas will now begin Saturday. Down lights & power points look like they are in . SS says practical completion 3 weeks away. Wondering how long that actually is . Need some fine weather for driveway. Houses I would say you at least have vanities as they would have went in at same time as kitchen. We appear to be at same stage. Which means YAY home for Christmas Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1291Oct 27, 2015 7:51 pm Practical completion inspection has been done. Same things still not done plus a few new ones added to the list. If rain holds off we might have a driveway by next week. EK1976 Ooooooo...the race is on. I think you will beat me. Building with Kurmond Homes 1292Oct 27, 2015 8:23 pm Well the race is on big mama... But I was told today it will be another 2 weeks driveway is now next week kurmond will give you interim occupation certificate and then the whole house and landscape is complete then you get the full occupation certificate Loks... I had to change my exterior tile 3 times as well Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1295Oct 29, 2015 8:47 pm Hi all! Bricks are going up slowly but surely. About half the height of downstairs has wrapped all the way round. Hopefully scaffolding and more height soon. Things are starting to look much smaller than they were in my head. Over the past two years staring at plans on paper and dreaming of what can go where, the plans are now becoming 3D and real. I wish when we had pushed more in the beginning when asking to expand some of the dimensions ( we were told that everything was big enough!) but when you are uncertain of what's ahead, new to building and unsure of how things are done things don't always turn out the way you want After two Friday's of SS phone calls they have since disappeared will see what happens tomorrow. Went to the home and renovations show last weekend to get some inspiration especially for landscaping ideas, no landscape companies were there sadly. Where is everyone getting their ideas and inspiration from? I love keeping an eye on realestate and am finding myself searching new homes and their backyards rather than what's on the inside. Any tricks of the trade, ways to reduce costs etc would be greatly appreciated Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1296Oct 30, 2015 8:50 am Ses78 Good to hear from you. Don't worry about your dimensions as I'm sure they will be right. I think everyone has looked at their homes and gone "I thought this room was going to be bigger" but it all looks good when finished. I would also appreciate everyone's comments re landscaping. We have huge problems ahead given our home was raised almost a metre off the ground level. I have searched thousands of images on Google for ideas. We need the experience of a professional landscape designer which will cost a bomb but we have made many previous mistakes over the years in our garden so we want to ensure the front and back yards look spectacular, are low maintenance and drought tolerant. Pls share names of landscapers if anyone knows a GREAT one. I also looked in home and garden type magazines but some of those ideas are a bit over the top. Everyone Driveway being poured right now and completed on Monday. Yay! Building with Kurmond Homes 1297Oct 30, 2015 8:57 am Hi big mama, you are officially winning the race , no driveway for me yet... Landscaping is scary so we are using a landscaper... We have to add large steps and raise the front with retainer walls and planting. I am using Instyle landscaping and paving Pty he is on Facebook and is an absolute perfectionist!!! https://www.facebook.com/Instyle-Landsc ... 739869363/ Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1298Oct 30, 2015 12:11 pm Hi All, Good to see your bricks are on the way, Ses. Woo, driveway! Congrats Big Mama. EK, another 2 weeks? That's a bit sad. Hope it goes quickly. Loks, sounds like you're getting pretty close, how exciting! And for everyone in the earlier stages, they really can drag on! Ours was early May slab, late May frame, late July Bricks complete, mid Aug roof complete. It's like something happens each month but at the finish stages it seems stuff happens about each week (well, until you hit a roadblock). I was super excited to see my kitchen sink and tap are now in! Also the downstairs toilet. Who'd have thought a toilet was such cause for celebration? I assume this means taps and toilets could be done upstairs too. We don't seem to have any lights/power points in as yet but it's looking pretty good. Regarding landscaping, I am trying to DIY as much as I can. That said, we've got a landscaper for retaining walls. We asked our SS for recommendations (which may or may not be a good idea, depending on your relationship with your own SS). Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1299Oct 30, 2015 3:26 pm Mouses Congratulations on your dunny EK1976 Thanks I will look at that site tonight. Who recommended that landscaper to you? Guys Another delay. Just found out they have to replace our kitchen cupboards as the ones they put up have not been made to cater for our recessed strip lighting. Their mistake. No attention to detail, AGAIN. Think maybe our carpet was laid yesterday. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1300Oct 30, 2015 5:53 pm sounds like progress for most. Big Mama really??? Congrats on the driveway though. I know a really good landscaper, will get his details, seen many pictures of his before and after and he has good vision. Think he may be pretty expensive though but not having a reference point on cost I don't really know. Will check tomorrow to see if tiler is there and true to their word. I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending. All their existing trades and businesses don't work with… 14 109886 Hi there! Putting the feelers out there for those who have (or almost) built with Arli homes! Interested in your experiences who've built from their stock home designs… 0 26728 Wish you all the best. Once you signed the contract, they will find millions excuses to charge you. And have seen their sites unfinished for a long time. 4 25905 |
