Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 12641Nov 11, 2016 8:41 am Hi Jess have a good read of my blog we are now on the door step of going to fair trading if masterton don't get off their behinds and get all our outstanding actions done. I now have a decommissioned theatre room waiting for gyprockers to fix significant water damage, I have had three people out to see my kitchen of which nothing is happening and there are defects in it. I also have had the manager of tile direct, the area manager from masterton and all 4 of my ss out to see my tiles which have grout defects, missing tiles and poor quality silicone jobs. I have chips missing out of my kitchen and ensuite cabinets, crooked doors and robes and dents in my colorbond roof and weird issues with my mortar and NOT A SINGLE THING HAS BEEN FIXED and we had PCI about 5-6 months ago. And these were items our building inspector picked up too. I wouldn't recommend m to anyone seriously find someone else to build your home! https://mandgbuildatmulgoarise.wordpress.com/ Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 12642Nov 11, 2016 9:46 am MGardz hang in there - you will get the home you've worked so hard for. I think a lot that we've all experienced building with M is endemic in the building industry. My BIL was a framer ( not with M), he was injured on the job and has vowed to never return to the industry as he was sick of how it operated. But there are some builders better than the others. My friend built with Clarendon and he did not have even 5% of the issues we had. Issues in the industry do not mean you should not choose your builder VERY carefully, because once you are in, there is no easy way out and the majority of the issues happen after it is too late to get out. Issues in the industry do not mean you can just rely on a known brand a past performance of a company. Things change and past performance is no indicator of future performance. I think what Jess could do is consider other builders and ask the same question about them in the threads related to those builder and see how many people jump up and say they are excited and how many say they are frustrated. 2014 30/05 $3900 25/08 Contracts 02/10 DA submitted 2015 17/02 DA approved 02/04 Colors 10/04 Demo 09/07 Construction start 27/07 Fill 15/08 Slab 21/09 Frame 2016 08/01 Bricks Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 12644Nov 11, 2016 10:47 am Fisher75 Gibson MGardz hang in there - you will get the home you've worked so hard for. That's a great idea! Thank you Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 12645Nov 11, 2016 11:49 am To change the sombre topic a bit, just was wondering those who did their flooring did you take off the skirting and tucked the flooring under or did you use the scotia? What are the pros and cons of using scotia? I've realised that I have scotia in my quote and to change it to taking off the tucked skirting and re-attach it later the flooring company wants to charge me extra 1900 for ground floor only. So I am considering to scotia or not to scotia. Thanks. 2014 30/05 $3900 25/08 Contracts 02/10 DA submitted 2015 17/02 DA approved 02/04 Colors 10/04 Demo 09/07 Construction start 27/07 Fill 15/08 Slab 21/09 Frame 2016 08/01 Bricks Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 12646Nov 11, 2016 12:04 pm Fisher - it's depends which look you prefer. Tucked under is in my opinion a better more finished look. Ours are tacked on and painted. The flooring company is removing and nailing them back in. Does your flooring company realise they will already be measured and cut ? Seems a bit costly considering either way they would have to install something, either scotia or skirting. Also once they are nailed back on the paint work had to be touched up. The flooring company does realise everything and they've been on site today to have a look at the floors readiness. I think if I were to replace taking off skirting to scotia they would still charge me a similar amount extra, just opportunistic sales. BTW, those who did their flooring with a third party company, were your floors ok for them to install the flooring and if not, were you able to pass the costs of floor preparation (e.g. removing paint clots and cement from the ground floor and sanding the upper floors to even them out after being exposed to rain for months)? 2014 30/05 $3900 25/08 Contracts 02/10 DA submitted 2015 17/02 DA approved 02/04 Colors 10/04 Demo 09/07 Construction start 27/07 Fill 15/08 Slab 21/09 Frame 2016 08/01 Bricks Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 12648Nov 11, 2016 1:02 pm I've been meaning to ask my SS who is removing the crap off the slab. I do not agree, but was wondering if anyone managed to pass the cost/work back to Masterton. Our floors upstairs are bent after being under rain for 6 months. Our SS says the bent is within 4 mm tolerance, so he won't be sanding it any further. 2014 30/05 $3900 25/08 Contracts 02/10 DA submitted 2015 17/02 DA approved 02/04 Colors 10/04 Demo 09/07 Construction start 27/07 Fill 15/08 Slab 21/09 Frame 2016 08/01 Bricks Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 12650Nov 11, 2016 5:26 pm Thanks Gibson, nearly there I guess! Or did you ? Fisher - must of been you that was talking about it. I'll be confirming that with the SS next week. I forgot to take pics today at the house. I had about 5 electricians running around doing the electrical fit out. Our ensuite toilet is in such a hard position to place towel rails and toilet roll holders ☹️️ didn't think about that when redesigning it. Also had the aircon man there again. My list is getting shorter very quickly this week. Next week I know the robes, shower screens and shelving is all being installed. I've left it to hubby to design so this is going to be the pride and joy of the backyard. I'll post more once he gets more done. The screens will be a marakesh inspired design and the fire pit is a custom job. SVE the big one the developer put in, the smaller one in front of it we did as we levelled the yard as it would of been a two tier yard otherwise. We are just going to put plants in there. It's the Sirocco MartinsHarmony with a few changes/additions to the plan! I think we had our fence and portaloo done a day or two before the end of the 20 day period but they started cutting the day after the 20 day period was over so couldn't complain!
