Great news! We've just signed our consolidated tender last week and waiting to get a colour appt. Has anyone upgraded to ducted air conditioning or vacuuming? Just after an idea on costing Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 1223Oct 25, 2011 4:42 pm Hi am new to the site but have been reading this thread with a ton of excitment. we have just signed off on our consolidated and waiting for our land rego due any time now. Quote: Has anyone upgraded to ducted air conditioning or vacuuming? Just after an idea on costing as for the a/c i can answer that as we have done our colour, we upgraded to the actron esp plus and all up was $13640 ( this included the pad for outside unit and upgrade to 3 phase ). is about $2000 dearer than quote for a daikin system fitted after we move in but it was only single phase and we had to do own own slab for outdoor unit. happier to have done ready to go. as for vaccum cant say as thats in electrical and we havent done that yet - is next month. while im here can i ask if anyone has done there electrical recently that could share some costs so i can get an idea what i might be up for - things like data points, power points, ixl tastics etc. unsure how much to do with builder as to get done after movein also who has fitted ceiling fans after handover - and what was involved in structural support to hang fan from? thanks heaps - luv this thread MDJ Homes - Bordeaux 14 + now with improvements Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 1224Oct 25, 2011 5:27 pm For those that have installed plantation shutters, did you do them through MJH or a third party? We weren't totally convinced that all would be ready in the time frame that we had been told but it seems as though it was all hands on deck yesterday as we had plumbing and electrical and a heap of other things completed. From what I can work out the only major jobs left to complete are the airconditioning, the wardrobe fitouts and the shower screens and mirrors in the bathroom (we are doing our own flooring after handover). So it is getting very exciting over in our camp! Hope everyone else's builds are going along well also! I'm a bit worried that our timing will be affected by the 4-6 weeks shutdown of MJ during the holiday season... did anyone of you guys started around end of nov/december and was affected by the shutdown? thanks again... Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 1227Oct 30, 2011 2:05 pm Hi Kornjen, After council approval we had our electrical appointment a few days later, they also work on getting the construction certificate during that time which takes a few days. After all is signed and finalised I believe they start construction 20 days later. Every circumstance is different though so you should ask your CLO to give you a little more information and answer all your questions, ours was really great and we were communicating on a daily basis. Best of luck Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 1228Oct 31, 2011 2:07 pm hi everyone we have jumped on board with MJH also and are very excited as we will be building the Milano 2 16M! Just paid the $3000 over the weekend and amazed at how much everything adds up ontop of the base price of the house even before you go to colours and electrical. How much did everyone end up spending on their houses before going to colours and electrical and how much should we budget for that also? Thanks McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 1229Oct 31, 2011 3:38 pm Well we've got our colour appt Booked for 24th november! So excited! How much did everyone already decide on before the appt? And did it really take 4hrs? Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 1230Oct 31, 2011 6:59 pm We had a rough idea of what we wanted. Once at MJD we changed a few colours as some of the colours we could not get. Roof we left to the end to decide, but the choice was between surf mist and shale grey. Yes the appt did take 4hrs of full on colour and kitchen/bathroom design. Quote: how much should we budget for that also? Good question, but really depends on your choices and land issues e.g. slopes etc... The entire building industry shuts down over Christmas including the suppliers and manufacturers. Most will go off a couple of days prior to Christmas and go back in the last week of January or a bit earlier dependant on how many actual weeks fit in between. Many years ago I worked in building supplies and nothing stops the seasonal break, this frustrated a couple of customers whose religious beliefs didn't include Christmas and they couldn't work because they didn't order before the Christmas cut off. Makes for interesting times and an extended wait but nothing can be done.
