Yay yay yay congrats!!

Thanks everyone Yep it's exciting - we have a few days break now but that's a good thing, we want the slab to have some time to dry. Early next week they'll start the framing, the roof trusses have been fabricated and are waiting for delivery apparently. The inspector was very happy so far. Now we wait for the slab bill though!

I haven't got the official variation for the retaining modifications yet but I have email confirmation that the $1000 rock provision has been removed and we also get $1403 credit for the retaining they didn't do (and no variation fee), so yay, a negative PCV They also volunteered to rip out the little retaining return on the side boundary that is pointless now that our neighbours have had their site scrape done.

We have some concerns about establishing the location of our rear boundary with our rear neighbour (who is very close) as one peg went AWOL during site works. So as our side neighbour hasn't had their setout done (and they are also building with Plantation) our SS is going to organise with their SS to get the peg re-established (it's their peg too so it's beneficial for them) which will be good. It's weird that we're building next to each other with the same company and we have different SS...But whatever, I'm happy with ours so far

Plantation do have a reputation for excessive retaining walls apparently. Bear in mind that if once they start site works they realize it's not needed, they won't build it and you'll get a credit - that's what happened in my case, anyway. We were happy in the end with what we ended up with. We decided not to organize ourselves too - I couldn't even get a single tradie to turn up and quote me, so I had zero hope of them actually turning up to do the job, and I didn't want to cause a delay. Money vs hassle, in this case we spent more money for less hassle

Haha I go to my block and do that as well as look at my plans at home. So nope you are not the only one. Although at this stage it's hard to visualize anything past the mess that is my block at the moment haha

My wife is hopeless at visualising things.... She lacks spatial imagination and awarnes... Every time we go to our home she's like... I didjnt know we had that...!

Haha that's awesome. What program did you use to do that?
