Browse Forums Building A New House Re: First home build with Dale Alcock in Aveley: SLABBED! 121Jul 14, 2013 9:26 pm We decided to keep our slab party small and christened the slab on Saturday with our parents, my little sister and my 94-year-old firecracker of a grandmother. We aimed for a 'brunch' do as the weather bureau indicated rain might be possible in the afternoon. Thought I'd post some of the less identifiable pics in order to protect the identities of those involved. There were several people who drove/walked past over the couple of hours we were there and we received several quizzical looks. They must have thought we were mad. I figure, if they're going to be our neighbours it's probably best that they know we're crazy now! We went for a BBQ/picnic theme... http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag10/pants_de_fancy/slab_party_001_zpse0987aee.jpg Mmmm... bubbles... http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag10/pants_de_fancy/slab_party_003_zps1d8637c1.jpg POP!... http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag10/pants_de_fancy/slab_party_004_zps23eff3e1.jpg He was aiming for the 'laundry' and hit the target perfectly... http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag10/pants_de_fancy/slab_party_005_zps044cbfce.jpg Using the BabyQ to toast croissants - ham, tomato, red onion and mozarella for mains... http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag10/pants_de_fancy/slab_party_006_zpsc5b4903a.jpg Nutella, banana and caramelised brown sugar for dessert... http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag10/pants_de_fancy/slab_party_007_zpsf8477523.jpg Drinks and nibbles... http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag10/pants_de_fancy/slab_party_008_zps35b0e766.jpg As you can see, no bricks or frames but three soak wells delivered. The construction loan didn't end up settling until last Tuesday so we're hoping for some more deliveries in the next few weeks. If you're thinking of having a slab party I highly recommend it. This is our first home and it has been a loooooong time coming. It was nice to give this achievement the recognition it deserves. Wow we must have very similar tastes as a lot of what you picked we also did. We chose Vitesse 200% as our main render . Our kitchens are identical, osprey and polar white...and I too chose platinum micro as the bench top for my bathrooms...lol. Congrats so far on your house. I agree your photos are beautiful . I look forward to following your build. Mine is almost finished Re: First home build with Dale Alcock in Aveley: Slab Party! 133Jul 23, 2013 12:30 am Belle22 Hi fancypants, I was just reading through a bit of your thread. Kitchen osprey, polar white and ensuite bench top platinum micro! Would love to see some of your pics if you are nearing completion. Do you have a thread? Fancypants - any deliveries to your block? Have you been given a start date for brickies as yet ? Yes we all have very good taste..haha. We went with the 100% for under the windows and a few trims...so there is a slight difference in the shade with the 200% and 100%. I haven't properly seen it yet,cos they accidently did the main as 100%....,so I do have a pic of that somewhere. I don't have a thread...sorry, and don't have the photo bucket thingo either....if you want to pm me your email I'm happy to send some pix to you of the front and the kitchen and the platinum micro in the bathrooms if you would like. Will be going to the house Friday What colour did you choose to go with the platinum micro? We choose a wood look colour. I think the Lundy grey will go great with the Vitesse ...we may change the trim to a darker colour later on maybe. So would love to see your pix when you are done too.
