Take a look and see what you think: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The window on the far left will be a wraparound window, and is brick around with BriteLite mortar. The rest of the facade is rendered, except a feature pillar which will be bricked the same as what i just mentioned. The balustrade on the balcony will be wood panels, with the top wood panel layed horizontally so it will be functional as a "bar" so we can put drinks on there etc if we are entertaining.... Hope you like it?? I too wanted to make sure you could rest drinks on the balcony. I've checked now that the balustrade is up and there is a ledge on ours just deep enough for a wine glass Beautifully sketched! Melbourne Cup day is always useless for work. I got nothing done today. T and I have tomorrow off so we can watch the US election 5.5m Terrace House - Lightsview (Northgate SA) Moved in!! - 22 February 2013 /viewtopic.php?f=31&t=53455 Re: J_and_T's House Build in Lightsview 125Nov 06, 2012 10:57 pm Haha, love that your ledge is deep enough for a wine glass... Not many updates from you lately Juski... hope the build is coming along nicely Oh wow, the US election - i forgot that was on. T is into all the politics, and is constantly telling me i should get more involved in Aussie politics etc as i am a small business owner, but i can't seem to wrap my head around it alot of the time. Are you from the US, or just have a vested interest in the election?? I guess whoever comes into power in the US pretty much comes into power for the world..... I lived in New York and New Jersey and he lived in Arizona - and he also has some family in California and Arizona. I find politics confusing, but important. I struggle with Australian politicians because they all seem the same, but the US is so polarised I find it pretty easy to pick a side. I go with my morals and values more than the fiscal side of things, mainly because I don't really understand economics, but I understand what I think is right. I try to understand all of it, though. US elections are always huge and I love watching it unfold. I've watched them fairly closely since 2000 (though at 14 I doubt I absorbed a lot of it). And yeah, their political choices affect everyone else because they're so powerful. We get a lot of exposure from our facebook feeds thanks to our friends from over there! 5.5m Terrace House - Lightsview (Northgate SA) Moved in!! - 22 February 2013 /viewtopic.php?f=31&t=53455 Re: J_and_T's House Build in Lightsview 127Nov 06, 2012 11:17 pm Oh well i admire that you take such an interest in it.... and am EXTREMELY jealous you have lived in New York!! I love the big windows upstairs! Great job at sketching it too - you wouldn't even want to see what my attempt would be! I think our balcony will be primarily used for wine drinking too - bit of a shame it is off of our bedroom though. Oh well, I guess it will just be my and A's little retreat! We are proposing a sundeck under the main roof which will sit on top the garage and is accessible from the upstairs rumpus room. Juski, did the right man win? Ours is off our bedroom too.. but I don't mind Yes, he did It was pretty good viewing. Feel awful for the people who had to wait 6+ hours in line to vote! Got a little teary during the victory speech.. I'm such a sap. 5.5m Terrace House - Lightsview (Northgate SA) Moved in!! - 22 February 2013 /viewtopic.php?f=31&t=53455 Re: J_and_T's House Build in Lightsview 131Nov 07, 2012 10:14 pm CrazyEagle That looks awesome J_and_T! I love the big windows upstairs! The double sliding doors on the left are off the main bedroom, and the ones in the middle are off the retreat/mini-rumpus room. The windows on the right over the garage are for Bedroom 2 Technically i didnt sketch it.... i traced the outline... with a ruler..... and then did all the detail myself. More so that T could see what it will look like as he has a hard time visualising things on paper sometimes! I dont think it matters where the balconies are ladies, either way they will be functional for wine drinking/chilling out etc etc. Glad the right man won Juski Barak is pretty cool from what i can see..... definitely has a better name than MITT! Hahaha. (Baseball mitt? Oven mitt?) We sort of know what we want but it's really hard. We are doing brick render and stone/tile but what goes where is hard to chose. We are doing brick render and stone/tile but what goes where is hard to chose. Agreed... we are doing dark brick feature (with brite lite mortar), 2 different colour renders and wood features. It is really quite difficult, but we have had it all approved (preliminary) by LV, and have made the slight changes they needed. Oooo, stone/tile sounds interesting! More so that T could see what it will look like as he has a hard time visualising things on paper sometimes! A had a hard time visualising some things too. When we first got a picture of the facade he coloured all the different parts in different coloured hi-lighters - we had a yellow and pink and red house!! He also left pretty much all of the selections up to me because he couldn't look at one little tile and visualise what the whole floor/room would look like. Good thing I'm a visual thinker or else we would have been in big trouble! We were lucky in the sense that our facade cost was included in our contract price before we had even decided on what it would look like! When LV advised that we had to add another material, it didn't cost us any more at all. 6m Terrace House - Lightsview (Northgate SA) First fix completed ... 15 February 2013 Render completed... 19 February 2013 Insulation... 19 February 2013 Plasterboard... 21 February 2013 /viewtopic.php?f=31&t=58747 Re: J_and_T's House Build in Lightsview 137Nov 10, 2012 10:51 am Yep, it's definitely MASSIVE and i saw a few things they have added.... marble to the corner/side of the house... lots of long windows in that house too.
