Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building 'The Benchmark' with REDINK Homes 121May 16, 2010 2:16 pm Quick question - does anyone know if you can have skirting boards with quickstep floating floors or can you only have that beading stuff?? Just answered my own question by looking at the website - interesting! and expensive I'm sure Re: Building 'The Benchmark' with REDINK Homes 122May 16, 2010 3:16 pm Yes pls Vundaful! I really cant wait to see it all together. We were asked at our tile selection if we wanted the floor tile as border of the white tile but I was so lost. Hubby wants floor tile but I wanted the hob to be white so we are a little stuck and then we thought about the toilet which is right next door and thought that maybe it would look funny with the white tile around the toilet when there is no other white tile there. I think the colour we choose was Taupe for the floor tile? We had Parador in the last house which is similiar to Quickstep and we were told we could have skirting layed afterwards no problems. They did say as it comes prefinished that you may still need the caps where the carpet meets but I dont know if that would be the same with your flooring too. Re: Building 'The Benchmark' with REDINK Homes 123May 16, 2010 3:18 pm Oh I forgot to say if you get painted mdf as your skirting its only about $500 installed and we did all the main areas plus the hall and activity so I would imagine the same for you, however you would have to paint it yourself afterwards but thats easy enough. Re: Building 'The Benchmark' with REDINK Homes 124May 16, 2010 3:25 pm We had skirtings with our laminate flooring in the last house-it cost around $1500 extra but that was the entire house-we had it throughout except for wet areas. They "scribed"the skirting to make sure it fit properly-well worthit becasue I hate the quad beading Deemaree Kyndylan Capers: viewtopic.php?f=36&t=46852 My blog: http://www.sufficientlysufficient.blogspot.com/ Re: Building 'The Benchmark' with REDINK Homes 125May 16, 2010 4:27 pm Rhi - we were going with either taupe or marron for our floors and went with marron in the end, think it was a bit browner. I would go for the floor tile as the skirting but that's because I don't like it the other way haha, I think the bath would look ok in the white tile with skirtings taupe...up to you really, it's hard to visualise these things Deemaree We had skirtings with our laminate flooring in the last house-it cost around $1500 extra but that was the entire house-we had it throughout except for wet areas. They "scribed"the skirting to make sure it fit properly-well worthit becasue I hate the quad beading Thanks for that Deemaree, $1500 isn't to bad at all considering the entire cost of it...hmmm might see what hubby thinks ours wouldn't be the entire house either. Re: Building 'The Benchmark' with REDINK Homes 126May 16, 2010 4:36 pm I am thinking of doing it in the bedrooms as well! I figure its $500 installed for 74 lengths and I would say we need maybe another lot and a half so roughly what you paid so I am thinking of doing it in everyroom too, it looks so finished RHI - BALDIVIS PERTH 2005 Bought/Finished WA Housing Centre Home 2010 Building the Benchmark with REDINK Homes in The Avalon 2013 Building the Michigan with Cont3nt Living In Highbury Estate! Re: Building 'The Benchmark' with REDINK Homes 127May 16, 2010 4:39 pm Re: Building 'The Benchmark' with REDINK Homes 128May 16, 2010 6:25 pm I hadn't even thought about the skirting boards until now, asked hubby and he seems keen...woohoo V - that looks awesome!! Way better than with the white tile skirting...love it . Is that a white or coloured grout? Did you get a meeting with your tiling guy before he started? Re: Building 'The Benchmark' with REDINK Homes 129May 16, 2010 8:49 pm Glad you like! I was thinking about the exact same conundrum the other day, I had a small panic attack wondering if it would have looked better with the beige wall tiles instead of the floor tiles - thankfully I concluded that I would like the floor tiles better The grout is coloured - it's a medium grey colour that the lady at Imported Ceramics suggested. We certainly did meet our tiler on the day that he started, along with our SS. We confirmed the choices, let him know which tile to skirt with, showed him the places for the feature listellos, and coughed up $300 for mitred/bevelled edges Re: Building 'The Benchmark' with REDINK Homes 130May 16, 2010 10:58 pm mitred/bevelled edges?? where would they be in my bathroom? KEYS ON 5/11 AT 1PM Re: Building 'The Benchmark' with REDINK Homes 132May 16, 2010 11:04 pm Camy has it It's an optional extra with your tiles - the tiler can lay the tiles so the edges around 90 degree angles meet up at 45 degree angles to each other (for an extra cost see this diagram: http://www.johnbridge.com/vbulletin/att ... 1270149067 ) or they can be laid with the ends overhanging each other. Re: Building 'The Benchmark' with REDINK Homes 133May 16, 2010 11:11 pm Hey Rhi, see your having stipple cocoa so thought you might like some pics of it, we have it in our rental in the main bath and laundry.

Pay today, Pay tomorrow, Pay next week, you won't regret the smoooooth smoooth edges of Mitred Tiles©." The first we heard about it was the tiling meeting, so understandably we didn't have the cash the tiler was happy for us to come back in the next few days while he was working to pay him though. No worries.
