Wrong splash back tiles have been delivered and although they acknowledge that they don't match the sample I had photographed at the appt they are saying that its what I signed off on and to change will be over $600. I'd rather just have them fit what they've supplied - I have no confidence they get the reorder right - but just waiting on the boss to get here and give her OK. http://camdenbuild.blogspot.com.au/ by invite only please pm me Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1142Aug 25, 2014 11:05 am robbie55 Best of luck onggie. TD just don't seem to be with it it seems. Too many clients to deal with. Hope everything sorts out. Let us know how you get on. Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1143Aug 25, 2014 8:04 pm That's sucks Robbie!! Let's hope you get that one sorted. Well once again camden made the news for highest rainfall over a few short hours!! Argh!! SS emailed me today to let us know that brickies are delayed and won't be onsite till Thursday. Argh again!!!! Pre Christmas handover seems so far out of reach now!! Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1144Aug 25, 2014 9:43 pm Hope it turns around for you kazzaw. We weren't able to sort our issue out. I might have more to say once tiling is finished but for the moment will focus on the positive - tilers were really supportive and there was a team of 4 or 5 who turned up 7am and worked literally within 2 seconds of getting on site. Like the other trades I've seen so far they take pride in their work and don't overlook the small detail. I'm particularly impressed with their cuts (no over cuts) and no chipped or rough edges on cuts. Despite the complete lack of customer service TD might just surprise me when it comes to the quality of their workmanship. http://camdenbuild.blogspot.com.au/ by invite only please pm me Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1145Aug 25, 2014 9:56 pm Robbie that's pretty annoying that you received the wrong splashback tiles based on what was written up rather than what you saw! Were they heaps different? Good you are a glass half full kind of guys and looking at the positive! kazzaw, yes this rain is annoying and hope it eases up so the brickies can get a start on yours! Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1146Aug 26, 2014 6:40 pm Quick little update from my build. Last week my new SS called to intoroduce himself (other SS was project homes manager called in to assist while new staff was brought on). I called him to discuss a few things and he was happy to assist. He then asked when I wanted to meet onsite and I said this afternoon and he obliged and said it was a good idea since gyprock arrived today and good to walk through beforehand since walls will be done in a few days. Upon arrival I didnt care my leather shoes were covered in mud as was happy to see the walls going up - 4 workers working busily even in the rain! Close to 3/4 done by the time I left. Could definitely see the inside taking shape and imagining where furniture is going. Doors to follow soon and kitchen/bathroom cabinetry next week. Now off to clean my shoes!! Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1148Aug 27, 2014 6:48 am Good stuff Justin. New SS sounds good which is important. I remember watching our gyprockers work as well, they have it down to a fine art and their pace is incredible. It totally transforms the place once the rooms are properly defined. As Kazzaw says, you'll be at lock up before you know it. http://camdenbuild.blogspot.com.au/ by invite only please pm me Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1149Aug 27, 2014 8:28 am agree with Robbie at the speed the Gyprockers work, we got an update that the internal carpenters will be in this week to finish everything off. we are meeting TD onsite to check our tiles next week - I'm a little nervous after reading the above, thankfully we only have 3 different tiles to check as were having floorboards and a window splashback. Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1150Aug 27, 2014 8:44 am I'm sure mine was a bit of a blip kiwifire - we have 4 tiles plus the bermuda floor wastes and the silver trim, everything else is right (although now that I think about it I haven't seen the trim) and the tilers were already clear on how they would laid, we have a bit of an unusual layout going on with some floor tiles acting as a feature wall in the ensuite and surrounding the bath face and hob. When the tiler ran through the layout it was good to see that he knew that. Hopefully our tilers should be at work now and will hopefully finish off the wet areas today. Main floor tilers will the same team which is good and is booked for next Tuesday. http://camdenbuild.blogspot.com.au/ by invite only please pm me Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1151Aug 27, 2014 9:31 pm Oh my RE all the tile problems. I have a photo of a couple of our choices, but not all. It was also almost a year ago that I chose them. I'm not sure I remember some of them. How do you organise to meet TD onsite to check them before they go in? We've had our gyprock finished today. We're still not locked up, so hopefully the local kids won't get in and graffiti the place. We had a walkthrough this week before they went up to check on everything. Kitchen and stairs going in next week. I've been a bit out of action on the forums of late, had a few ongoing health issues. Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1152Aug 28, 2014 6:52 am Mrs brown bear, hope you are feeling better. Glad to hear your jobs are all progressing nicely. Can you all cross your entire bodies that this blasted rain stops. Feels like an enternity ago our frames went up. Wettest August in 16 years ha ha ha. Lucky us. Anyone happy to share first names so we don't have to keep writing each other's user names. My name is Karyn. Happy to be called Kaz!! Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1153Aug 28, 2014 7:24 am Hope you're feeling better MrsBB. TD will give you a call to meet the tiler before they start on the first day. This will be an early start. Glad that the gyprock is finished, it won't be long till you're locked out. I feel for you Kaz its been such great weather for so long and as soon as you need it clear, the wettest period starts. Hopefully this is the last of it and things can move forward. I'll do my sun dance later on today. Happy to share first names, shouldn't come as a surprise that I'm Robbie. http://camdenbuild.blogspot.com.au/ by invite only please pm me Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1154Aug 28, 2014 7:40 am Robbie, I'm shocked!! I seriously thought your name would be Fred!!! Ha ha. You and I were definately creative with our usernames.. A sun dance is definately required. Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1155Aug 28, 2014 8:25 am Hi everyone, we posted here a few months ago when we went to tender with Rawson. Well five long months later, we are almost ready to submit to council. Thanks for all the excellent info we received, we have been a bit disheartened with the whole thing, and had nothing to share, looks like it will be well into November before our build starts. It's great to see your progress robbie, last time we looked at the thread you were waiting on your construction certificate. What a shame about your splashback tiles. We only did our tile section this week, and found TD to be very helpful, hopefully they continue to be! I bet you all are cursing this rain! Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1156Aug 28, 2014 9:21 am Hi Rico The admin phase can tend to drag on - I think we were lucky in that our PCA was actually great at responding and giving us realistic timeframes that were actually met so although it took quite a while, we never felt like our build was forgotten. I also follow a lot of other threads of builders that we'd decided not to go with and it seems to be a common thing that the admin phase drags on. I think also because there is a mini building boom going on its taking a bit longer than it was say a couple of years ago. On the plus side though, I've found the build part to be quite fast and our SS to be really helpful. As a former picture framer I have to say that I am very particular about straight lines and mitres and have been impressed with the finish of pretty much all of the trades. Our frame took a while to actually get up and of course there is the tile issue but in the grand scale of a build I think they are minor points. Care to share some of your selections Rico (and remind me what design are you building and in what area)? http://camdenbuild.blogspot.com.au/ by invite only please pm me Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1157Aug 28, 2014 9:22 am after a few hiccup our SS has turned a corner and in total contact with us and some amazing suggestions we never thought of to make our house look amazballs.. which he's getting done himself with our major plan changes. All our Gyprock has been finished and cornice goes up this week, it's incredible how a house can feel so different during the stages of a build, felt small when their was just framing, large when the roof went on, small again when bricks finished .. now thankfully large with the gyrock up. I did a little rain dance with my 2 yearold yesterday, so hope that help Kaz I'll reinstate our blog soon with some update photos, I sort of took it down amidst the frustrations BTW, I'm Alan nice to meet ya all Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1158Aug 28, 2014 9:17 pm Hey Robbie We are building the metford 28 in Kellyville. I'm still learning how to use this site, not sure how to upload pics! Externally we have, pgh espresso bricks, with surfmist windows and garage door with monument colourbond roof. Internally - White polyurethane kitchen, tiles called Nero from the standard range but upgraded to 600x600, standard carpet in a dark grey. I will try to figure out the photos. We've a lot of upgrades, everything seems so cheap, $300 for this, $200 for that, it all adds up! Our PCA was shocking, in all honestly she was nothing short of rude and unhelpful. We've recently got someone new, and so far she has been excellent. Hoping we have a good ss too. Do you have a colourblind roof? We have to make a call on the anticon blanket and really haven't a clue! Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1159Aug 28, 2014 9:24 pm Uploading photos is easy if you use the tapatalk app on your phone otherwise if you do search on here for instructions you'll find a few threads that'll help. We went with the colour bond roof and anticon blanket. Mainly because my wife is a facilities manager who had some roofers working on a few of the buildings she manages - they all said if the builder is offering CB at no extra charge to go with that. The anticon we got because it was recommended but also adds another layer of insulation (1.5R), for $1500 from memory I think its good value. http://camdenbuild.blogspot.com.au/ by invite only please pm me Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1160Aug 28, 2014 10:24 pm Hi Rico. Look forward to reading more about your build. I was lucky with this rain that my roof was completed just before and when the rain kicked in they were already working inside (the rain just stops me going in coz of all the mud). We are in Nth Kelly as well (southern end off Hezlett). From previous posts I see you have mentioned you're off Withers. I cant complain about my pre constuction timeline, just that my land reg was delayed two months. The build has been running smoothly and hope it continues. Update: walls completed yesterday with cornices to follow. Pic of where the kitchen will be and the wall/niche for my living room.
