I'm not remaining completely uninvolved.. on the contrary, I'm visiting every week, following along carefully.. but I'm not overly concerned with minor delays and defects that will be corrected in time. It's a long, involved process with many moving parts. Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 10890Sep 15, 2015 2:52 pm Oh and apparently the tile shop called and confirmed our tiles were being installed the night before...well sorry to say but neither me or my husband got d call...i wonder who they called ?? I honestly think it comes down to the SS! He should have made sure it was the correct tile before it was installed that included organising for the owner to see the tile/layout before it was laid!! I dont blame my ss he is great...and how would he have know what i chose..it was up to them to call and get me to check..but apparently they don't have to call u...well its an issue now which will cost them... so far i have had a great run can't complain about the builder only the supplier. .. Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 10892Sep 15, 2015 2:56 pm I have a great ss not his fault. ..not happy with the supplier and their attitude Lizzy083 light487 Not really fed up. Is the tile shop claiming its the same tile you chose just a different batch therefore a variation in the colour of the tile?? We were warned about this also by Beaumont Tiles and basically told that we take what we get as there is always variations in colours. We rechose our tiles because of this because when we originally chose our tiles there was a grey tile I liked... When i went back in a few months later the same tile had horrible brown streaks through it.. Asked them and they said thats just what you get with different batches... and they couldn't guarantee I would get a good batch or a batch with ugly brown streaks.. So we changed to a tile less likely to have a colour variation. Its tricky isn't it Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 10894Sep 15, 2015 3:14 pm 1st time builders mccjus80 Lizzy083 [quote="light487"]Not really fed up. Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 10896Sep 15, 2015 3:15 pm Yeh.. variations in colour and in pattern is one thing but if it's a rough surface vs smooth, that's not the same tile. Like the difference between a gloss and a matt.. different tile. The finish is something they have complete control over. It is however in their best interest to get it RIGHT. I assume most people meet the other trades on sites etc, i.e. electrical etc to make sure they are on the same page. Having a plan is one thing... There is no way they can argue the finish of the tile thats total BS. The rough tiles are usually floor tiles in wet areas. Wall tiles you generally get are gloss. Non-wet areas are also usually gloss from what I've seen. I'd be making a lot of noise if it were me.
