Browse Forums Building A New House McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10701May 18, 2015 9:54 pm Yes super freakin annoyed One thing I will say is at colours I specifically asked where my control panel would be And we were told AC people would contact us and go through the plans with us. We saw this aircon plan for the first time in our emails a week ago. Has no one else had issues? Where's everyone else's in the milano? And good point about the cutlery tray. I'm curious too lol! Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10702May 18, 2015 10:08 pm Grakat Do the measurement in the middle of your kitchen. You should get 2400mm or thereabouts. Also check your rooms adjacent to the kitchen. It would be highly unlikely that the kitchen ceiling is too low by itself. Unless you have coffered ceilings the whole house should have an equal ceiling height. It's a feature of the Milano to have a dropped ceiling in the kitchen so it will actually be lower than the surrounding rooms. welcomehome01 Hi Guy's, just posting in behalf of my hubby as he's been having his own moments since last night about the kitchen dropped ceiling height. I don't know how high is 2287mm but he's been measuring our place here and there and everywhere just to check the actual height. He went and checked the progress yesterday and noticed the kitchen height which is too low for him. Told him to wait till it's finished but he won't stop measuring, looking at his tape measure....and I think this will go on and on and on.... I'm wondering if it's an error on the plans?? If you say you have gone the increased ceiling height (I think I remember reading you that you had) - then 2287 doesn't sound right. I am building a Monaco (almost the same as the Milano) with the 2700 ceilings. My plan notes the "framed bulkhead to kitchen cupboards 2287 Off FFL" and "dropped ceiling to kitchen 2455mm above FFL". I think those are the measurements you should have and a drafty has made a boo boo. We saw this aircon plan for the first time in our emails a week ago. Has no one else had issues? Where's everyone else's in the milano? How odd that it's in the childrens activity? I'm building a Monaco which is near enough the same as the Milano. The location of the air return grille was specifically pointed out to us by MJH at our initial plan presentation. Perhaps get it moved into the hall where it turns the corner after your entryway picture recess but before you enter the open living areas. It's less obtrusive in a hallway and that's a bit of dead space where it won't be too noisy in your main areas. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10704May 18, 2015 10:22 pm Nope because I specifically wanted the control pad in the main living room which is why I asked about it. I was told it can change when ac contact us! I'm sure MDJ will sort this tho as they have been quite good at sorting things so far. That is the EXACT place I want it moved to Also the place the aircon specialist recommended Hopefully that can happen for us! Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10705May 18, 2015 10:25 pm That's the location where mine is marked to go so hopefully they move it for you without fuss. The air returns can be noisy when they cycle on and off so I wouldn't want it near the bedrooms at all. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10706May 18, 2015 10:29 pm That's true too! I'll keep you posted as I hope to hear back from our SS tomorrow. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10707May 19, 2015 6:37 am milby Grakat Do the measurement in the middle of your kitchen. Hi Milby, I think your right, our ceiling is 2550mm and if they dropped the kitchen ceiling to 2287mm, the size of the bulkhead is way too thick and it should be around 2.4, that way they can drop the kitchen cupboards to 2287mm. I will discuss it with my SS. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10708May 19, 2015 6:41 am milby Grakat Do the measurement in the middle of your kitchen. You should get 2400mm or thereabouts. Hi Milby, I will discuss it again with my SS if they can make it to 2.4, our ceiling height is 2550mm and I think they can bring this kitchen dropped to 2.4. A kitchen is not considered a habitable room so the ceiling can be under 2400. Let us know what your SS says! Our kitchen cupboards bulkhead is also at 2287 mm off FFL which means to me that is just seating without a gap below the kitchen ceiling, right? My SS will get back to me today. The Bronte display home at Lochinvar has a butlers pantry. I would have a look at the MJH website and see if it shows it. I will have a look at my photos and see if I have a picture too. You might want to keep on top of that as We were told that We would be contacted about our A/C install with regards to Zones etc before they started but they just went ahead & set it up without any more of our input. No big deal for us as We are happy with the outcome but it could have been nasty if you had a particular way you wanted it & didn't get the chance to have your say. The big grill in the roof doesn't do much for Me but I'll get used to it. Oh yeh...our oven was installed yesterday. Cant wait to test out that bad boy! We are going with Butler pantry, haven't seen it in a MJH display home before but our sales consultant did send through a picture of someone who did. Our SS told my husband today that we signed off on the plans for aircon. He didn't know that we had been told we can alter through the aircon people In fact I remember being told we can add vents and zones through aircon if we wanted so I stopped thinkin of it at the time. Luckily I added an extra zone at the time, but I had thought of even adding another vent when I discussed with them. I'm quite upset that this is happening. SS said he will keep following it up. Someone needs to take charge of this though!
