But this last two weeks have been full on! I'm so happy seeing progress every single day! I'm hoping now we have overcome the bricking delays and we have a roof that things will start to fly!! We have had our eaves installed, electrical wires put in, the front pole put on, framework for sliding doors, all outdoor electrical wired, support plywood inserted and a full site clean up. . . That's all since Monday! Hoping for insulation to start tomorrow. We are meeting on site Friday morning for the electrical walk through and gyprock will begin Monday. Loving this progress!! Happy chappy this week!!! Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10605May 13, 2015 6:39 pm divine_home Progress report: our slab went down first week of Feb and we have been having a very smooth run (building in ACT). On Friday internal painting had been completed as well as bag and paint and staining of doors and facade. Last time I was on site one coat of paint had been completed and it looked great (taubmans stonebridge with white contrasting doors, window frames , ceiling etc. when the weather brightens up I'll take some more pics! Excuse the horrendous pics but it's to give peeps an idea. I'll take some more when the weather brightens up! We probably have around 4-6 weeks until completion our SS says! If so, can I ask what kind of channel you have used behind the drawer front as it doesn't look like the one we were offered at pre selection which screws onto the top of the door. We were told that this kind of channel wasn't an option but we've used it in a previous kitchen reno. Thanks Shelley Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10606May 13, 2015 6:40 pm Woo hoo great progress! Progress report from our SS today is wet area tiling completed by weekend- painter coming tomorrow to finish painting eaves poles and start bag and paint tomorrow. Once tiler leaves in weekend painter will then do all internal painting next week then tiler to return! I reckon they will be pushing to get some final payments before end of financial year. Therefore there may be more activity. Just keep any eye open for errors. Thanks Shelley[/quote] Hi Shelley, we had two options either push to open drawers or c-channel drawers. We went with the c-channel (soft closing too, I might add). We chose polytec ravine natural oak in matt for underbench. Overheads are polytec ultra white gloss. Benchtop is Caeserstone Osprey (standard 20mm). Splashback is going to be clear glass. I was a bit worried about how it was going to look but it's coming together well I think. I did my colour selections in August last year in ACT - maybe it's changed? It seems weird they wouldn't offer c-channel drawers as handle free kitchens are preferred these days. Building the Veuve with McDonald Jones Homes in the ACT Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10609May 13, 2015 7:50 pm Absolutely divine_home, they are quite popular at the moment and I love the streamlined look of handleless cupboards. But they told us the c channel you've got and we have previously used wasn't an option, only the 'cheap and tacky' channel that screws to the top of the drawer or 2 pak were our options for the handleless look. Personally, I think the channel that screws to the top of the drawer looks like office furniture.....it's not really the look I'm going for. We were really disappointed that we were told this isn't an option. I would think that if a client/customer who is paying a lot of money requests a product or particular design feature you would do everything in your power to make it happen. Thanks for posting your photos as I now know that this actually can be done and I'll be requesting the c channel you've used. Also did you have to pay an upgrade for the channel or did it equal the cost of handles? Shelley Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10610May 13, 2015 8:08 pm Mark n Shel Also did you have to pay an upgrade for the channel or did it equal the cost of handles? Shelley Yes, it was a rather exxy upgrade ($1,100) at the time! But like you, it was one thing we really wanted in the kitchen. I think it's a silly business move to not have it as an option. It's like they are only offering it now if you are planning to go top of the range for cabinetry? It is at Homebush Bay. If you plan on going, you might need a whole day there. Try to keep your hands in your pockets.
